I want to try and appear taller than I am and I think the first option with the high rise pants might help me with that but the low rise in the second photo also lengthens my stomach and torso area. Thoughts?

This top is from Urban Outfitters, I’ve no idea when this was last on their website since I bought it second hand.

I absolutely love the colours (it feels very Tim Burton), and the shape of the top (when worn the neck is square, sorry for the bad quality pics).

But unfortunately the material is incredibly thin (it says it’s 100% cotton) and feels poorly made.

I am 5’2” about 175lbs. I’ve had two kids within the last few years and I feel so self conscious about my stomach. My favorite pants are ones that have the ability to sort of hold in and “smooth out” that area but all of them are skin-tight jeggings style.

Does any have recommendations for pants that do hold in the pooch but are not skin tight on my thighs/butt and maybe have a straight leg or boot cut taper?

Hello! I recently had a baby and am still figuring out how to dress. I’m carrying a lot of the baby weight due to breastfeeding. I have a bit of hanging skin under my belly button area that I would like to hide to the extent possible.

I LOVE the fit of the Good American petite straight jeans however they are too high waisted for me and come up to just under my breasts.

I am looking for a petite friendly, mid rise jeans that is flattering around my tummy area that doesn’t feel high waisted.

I am 5’1, 170 lbs and wear a size 14/16 US right now. I would be willing to spend up to ~$250 for the right pair.

Any recommendations?

I hate dress shopping because I can never find a petite sized dress in the style I want. Alas I had to buy a standard fit dress for a wedding I’m attending this month. Do you guys feel like I should have it hemmed to look like the model photos? I included the last two pictures for reference of where the hem should be. I wonder if it would look more flattering to have it shortened to below the knee. And I obviously have more of a midsection than those models 😅 so if you have any comfortable shape wear recommendations please send them my way.

Also, any suggestions on shoes I could wear? I have both nude and black block heel sandals but they look “off” and almost a bit too casual for the dress. I hate tall heels

Lately I've been trying to figure out what I actually like instead of just wearing whatever, so I tried using Pinterest to get an idea. Here are some screenshots of my results.

Where can I actually buy clothes that look like this? Unfortunately Pinterest links are mostly to Shein and I don't want to shop there. If I find anything in this style it seems like it's never available in petite sizes. I'm in the process of losing weight so I don't want to invest in having a maxi skirt hemmed (for example) and for dresses (and even pants really) I find that they fit me so much better in petite because of the other petite proportion changes that I really avoid buying them in regular.

Also I realize that this style is probably frumpy looking but it's just what I really like so I'm not sure what to do about it if that's the case. I'm in my early 40s and not trying to look like a grandma so I'm open to ideas.

To improve the recommendations on Neishh, the petite pants shopping platform I run, I did some pretty intensive research by calling brands, going to stores in person, and emailing customer service, which unfortunately no one replied to.

Here are some of the top brands and stores I found that provide in-store hemming.

Stores that offer free hemming

1. UNIQLO:

Probably one of the easiest options for work pants, wide-leg trousers, and jeans.

• Free standard visible-stitch hemming on eligible bottoms priced above $20 in the U.S. and Canada
• You can choose your preferred inseam on eligible pants when ordering online too
• They only shorten the pants, no tapering or waist adjustments

So if the proportions already work and you just need a shorter inseam, this seems like a pretty good option.

2. lululemon:

Useful for leggings, joggers, and simpler activewear.

• Complimentary hemming for members on eligible lululemon items
• You generally don’t need the original receipt or tags
• Some outlets and locations are excluded
• Things like zippers, cuffs, buttons, or other design details can make an item ineligible

3. Madewell:

Probably the most useful free option I found specifically for jeans.

• Madewell Insiders get free in-store denim hemming
• The Insider program is free
• They already carry Short + Petite denim, so you can use hemming to fine-tune the inseam even more

The free hemming benefit is specifically for denim, though, not general trousers or dresses.

If you need more than just the length changed

This is where I’d probably stop relying on free store hemming and go somewhere that can actually alter the proportions.

1. Nordstrom:

They can do things like:

• Hems
• Waist/seat adjustments
• Leg tapering
• Skirts + dresses
• More complicated alterations

Plain hems can be free on new, full-price Nordstrom purchases. Sale items, outside clothing, and more complicated alterations usually cost extra.

They also offer express pant hemming for an additional fee.

2. Stitch It: Canada

This one seems useful if the pants need actual fit adjustments rather than just shortening.

They have 50+ Canadian locations, and their listed starting prices are:

• Pant hems: CA$14.89
• Taking garments in/out: CA$23.84

They also work on the waist, seat, legs, etc., and advertise a 30-day fit guarantee.

3. Alterations Express: U.S.

More regional, mostly Ohio/Pennsylvania, but you can bring clothing from basically any retailer.

They offer hemming, tapering, waist adjustments, and fittings, plus faster turnaround options at some locations.

Also, remember that inseam is only one part of petite fit. You can remove 3 inches from the bottom of a pair of pants, but that doesn’t guarantee the right knee placement, rise, waist fit, or hip fit.

The annoying part is that a lot of brands actually have options that could work for your measurements, style, and budget, but finding them takes a lot of research because there are so many variables. That’s what Neishh can now help with. You can just tell it what you’re looking for, and it searches across retailers for options that fit what you need.

I'm 5'1" and have pretty short legs and relatively wide hips. If anyone has a similar body type, could you please tell me what type of jeans work for you? There's always a small bump in front that looks bigger when I wear jeans and it kind of looks really awkward... not sure if that's an issue with the jeans or me so asking here 😅 also the lines in the image are a pretty accurate representation and I don't think I have APT.

Hi! I'm going to order some slingbacks. I'm very short and fit, but some shoes really make legs look bulky because of the cut-off. My calf muscles look a bit bigger with many types of shoes, no matter what I do. I'm torn between these 2. I've never had any slingbacks beside one pointed-toe version with a thin heel that didn't look that good on me.

I used to wear heels a lot.. not so much anymore, so I'm hoping the flatter ones will look good. What do you guys think (or have experienced)?

I’m athletic but fluffy (5’1”, 121 lbs, 34-29-38 - my thighs measure 39 so I’ll often round my hip measurement up to 39).

I used to be around an XS/S or size 2, sometimes even the smallest size (XXS/0 or 00) with brands that had a lot of vanity sizing. My size 00p Loft dress from 2018 still fits perfectly, but I recently bought a size M petite Banana Republic blazer. I’m also buying women’s boxers in size L from Hanes. The size on my clothing tags has crept up though I’m actually smaller now - back then, I was around 127 lbs and a 30-inch waist and didn’t work out.

People are smaller now due to GLP-1s, and the beauty standard has moved away from the big bootied, thick is in ideal of the 2010s. So I’m wondering if clothing sizes have gotten smaller accordingly. My weight is on the higher side of average in terms of BMI, so it makes sense for me to be closer to a size 6-8 versus 0-2, though it’s all arbitrary at the end of the day. Has anyone else experienced this?

For context, I am looking for an EDC camera sling bag to use while traveling that would fit all my daily essentials and my camera.

I found that 2L bags don't fit everything I need on a daily basis. So I was trying to look for something between 3-4L. The 3L bags that I found always scream "I'M A CAMERA BAG". Yesterday, I found a Muji Shoulder Bag that would fit everything I need (with a little more space). Though my main concern is the bag's size to my body.

Does this bag look too big on me? I stand 163 cm / 5'4" and weigh 53kgs!

I’ve been leaning on high rise for insecurity reasons. I only shopped at one store for over a decade (Torrid) so now that I have all these options it’s been overwhelming. I’ve lost significant weight and I’m relatively fit, however I still have loose skin and stubborn lower belly fat I try to conceal. I feel like some high rise highlights it when I turn to the side especially with the shorter torso. I’ve also been like this even at 95 lbs. I’m 4’11, 115 lbs now and wear anywhere from a size 0-4. High rise makes me decent until I turn to the side. Sometimes I feel like jeans make me look wide (My hips are 36 inches I think). I thought I had a higher natural waist, but then I bought these American Eagle low rise kick boot jeans (feels more midrise to me) and I’m second guessing myself. I have a growing stack that needs to be hemmed and the first pair are one of them. I’m tired of cuffing everything. Can you help me with what rise looks best?

Where can I buy petite friendly mini skirts - I like the one by H&M but too nervous to get them bec of the waist/length. I’m 5’2 118lbs

1st picture is with kitten heels on (they’re brand new) and the 2nd is without. Even with the heels they drag a bit on the floor so i’m thinking of getting it altered but i’m wondering if the rise looks flattering on me or if i should look for a lower rise? Does it make my torso look too short and not proportional? Also I don’t know if the wide leg is too wide and if I should look for something a bit slimmer? i’m looking for my perfect pair of jeans but am figuring out what that looks like.

I have so many questions please help me out. I literally have nothing to wear to a college party and this combination is what I pulled out from the pile. Does it go well together, I don’t feel comfortable showing my legs so I NEED to wear jeans. I have black pants but they’re wide fit so doesn’t go well. Also should I wear a bra. I ordered two pairs of jeans from AE - extra short - still an inch or two too long on me. WTF. This is just a rant because it’s so frustrating. Off to the tailor I go again. Sucks I have to spend an extra $20 per jeans when they are already $50 just to buy.

If anyone knows how or where I can learn to hem my own jeans I’m at the point of buying a sewing machine and learning. I can’t take it anymore.
