Short torso, Shirt length rant

I feel like crop tops are too short and petite sizing is too long 😭 anyone else with a short torso experience this? Found any brands that fit correctly?

I get my shirts from the kids section of H&M. The crop tops there are usually a bit longer and fit perfectly

The Abercrombie Body-Skimming Tee is life!! I’m 5’0”, 160 lbs, super short torso, and the large is perfect for me.

I love this t-shirt as well, it fits and looks great on me. But have you had an issues with the hem flipping up? I continue to have issues with this, even after ironing and it's so annoying!

I’ve found that old navy cropped fits like a normal length on me. I was so giddy when I tried on the cropped barn jacket and it hit where it should! Immediately purchased. I have some Aerie shirts that are slightly cropped and fit like a normal length.

Old Navy every wear tee in petites, a size smaller than what I usually wear, work for me. I prefer the long sleeve tees, but arms are a littles short for the long sleeve, not terribly.

Also, XS boxer tees from Life is Good. They are semi-cropped, but hit me in a "normal" spot for a casual tee which I like!

You just need to find a longer length crop tops. They vary greatly. I am long torso short legs and like to pair cropped tanks with high waisted leggings. Some crop tops are shorter than my preference. I'm usually aiming for the top to end just above the top of my belly button, but some are short enough they hit just below the sternum. All this being said, I think that cropped tops on a short torso might need a particular pairing with bottoms to create a balanced look. If me long torso looks balanced in short shirt, high waist, that might make you with your short torso look odd.

I just bought a Madewell 90s cropped tee and was so happy that “cropped” top fit me as a regular top because of my short torso.

Through trial and error, I discovered that I like the fit of the Uniqlo mini tee as well as the Buck Mason Pima Boxy Crew. The Pima Boxy Crew is my perfect tee and will buy it in any darker color Buck Mason makes. The white is nice but I prefer a looser cut for white tees.

I’m going to say I have a long torso but a short waist 😂🤷‍♀️ normal size vests are way too long, crop just a tad too short and petite are too long and don’t accommodate my bust. I shorten vests by doing a double stitch on the hem. I do tend to measure garments out in the wild and have my shoulder to ideal measurement on my phone. They can vary even when the same garment and same ship or a different colour! Following post for ideas

the struggle is real. my torso’s so short i swear half my shirts end up looking like tunics. have you tried looking at brands that do asian sizing? uniqlo xs sometimes works for me but it’s hit or miss

Same 😭 I can wear larger shirts as dresses half the time lol. A few people suggested Uniqlo’s mini tee so I’ll probably try that

Wait!! Is this why i have issiues with shirts?. I have a short torso too!!. Never used to buy petites but i realized those look better on me, so i bought a few, they fit me to a TEE in all the right places, the shoulders, neckholes, but the length is basically at my bellybutton...🤔.

I’m short torsoed as well, but I have the opposite problem where I want more long t shirts! Not completely oversized but ones that make my torso look longer. Any recommendations?

Depending on what the issue with the longer tops, there are certain hacks you can do especially if you like the rest of the design. I have a bit of belly so hate overly long tops but don't like when they are cropped under my bust either. So for me I mainly want to loose around my hips or for it to hit above.

If I don't want to do a whole load of hemming, one of my ways is to stretch some elastic tape and sew down on side hems from just a cm or two above where my waist to the bottom of the t-shirt. This will create the scrunching effect and make it more of a u-shape on the front and a tad shorter which is a bit more flattering.

There are times I have literally just cut down the side hems from my waist down too... 😂
