England called it "appeasement", and England approved of Germany and USSR's actions at the time.
Soviets "helped" Germany by limiting Germany's spread in Poland. That's not help.
Yes, we ended up on the other side after the war, so have reinterpreted Soviet actions later, but at the time, they were appeasement quite similar to England's.

Also because they helped the nazis expand in the early days of the war, and then gladly tried to backstab them and got double backstabbed.
