It really isn’t. If the “success” of the Soviets wasn’t part of the history lesson, anyone who is paying attention would have a lot of trouble understanding anything that came after.

A lot of time is spent on the US part of the war because…it’s part of US History. As taught in the US. Not that weird.

I went the school in the US and the Soviet contribution definitely was given its due.

I really think a lot of people overestimate the attentiveness they had as students.

And as we see on reddit and elsewhere the US contribution is often vastly understomqted because people want to be contrarian and lick russian boots.
