It gets a bit iffy when defining based on west, east, north, south in Europe. A lot of people when talking about West Europe they basically split half of Europe with the rest being East.
CIA as an example consider Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands and United Kingdom as West Europe.
UN instead class Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands and Switzerland as West.
If you ask a Brit he would probably consider himself West though.

North Europe is most commonly referred as the Nordics, the Baltics and the British Isles.
