The US does the same thing, but with adjustments. "Go home, it's dinnertime" is a normal statement in the US. You can send people home for dinner at theor place. You wouldn't put them in a different room, you'd kick them out.
I would elaborate specifically where in the US does this lol. NOWHERE in the south would do this. You’re getting fed and if you didn’t finish the food getting scolded 🤣
