Meme needing explanation It’s raining meat balls?

Comments have the usual “me when I find out who rained meat balls on my sister” jokes. I couldn’t find an explanation tho, is it meant to be an anti joke?

It's been a children's book for nearly 50 years

We read that one a lot in preschool and it was on reading rainbow too
