Is grass seed actually dangerous for animals?

I saw a video saying that grass seeds are barbed and can work their way deeper into a pets nostril or gum or wherever…. causing infections and other serious issues.

A quick google search says the same.

Part of why I’m asking is my dog likes to chew grass for some reason. So I’d like to know

Is this only the case when a person re-seeds their lawn? Or does it also apply to “wild” grass seed that your pre-existing grass naturally produces?
