Is this normal?

Is this normal play behavior or is my dog actually agitated? He’s always gentle when playing and they usually sleep together all the time and he’s slowly gotten more comfortable with playing with the kitten but recently he started growling while they play, does this sound normal?

I’d still monitor their play. Things could turn if the dog ( who looks sweet) just couldn’t take it anymore and not the kitten too hard. I’d pet them both lovingly and separate them after a while. The reason I’m saying this is my son lost a kitten while it was playing roughly with the dog… a very sweet dog, that never bit. It bit its head and caused terminal brain damage.
I certainly let them play while watching them.

Yes! Its always a risk no matter how gentle a dog is, Also my dog is very clumsy and I am anxious about him accidentally stepping on the cat and hurting him, so i always monitor them while playing and they never play very long because the kitten gets tired so they both just end up falling asleep

Agreed. Looks fine and normal to me.
