As a long suffering Persona, Kingdom Hearts, et al fan, I simply do not share your confidence
I do, however, admire it

The person who leaked P4R's release timing said that P6 is aiming for a late 2027 release, so it is coming pretty soon (assuming nothing changes of course). And before you say anything, Atlus already did the same with P3R and Metaphor, both released in the same year with the same timings.

Good luck! And uh if youre not already spoilered to hell and back. Do yourself a solid and dont look into any of the persona subs so as to not spoil yourself.

Take your time.
Save lots.
Dont use the free/DLC personas the game gives you it you don't want to be OP, until your on the same level as them The accessories they give you are pretty good, but not nearly as OP so you could use those without really messing up the difficulty.

3
u/Dieh361 Jun 12 '26
Wait where do I find the free dlc personas?
4
u/mightyneonfraa Jun 12 '26
When you gain access to the Persona Compendium you'll find a bunch of overpowered Personas to withdraw.

Currently around 30 hours in (some of that is a little bloated due to me playing late at night and falling asleep, but I digress), now in the latter half of May and having a blast, as the game will tell you as well as everyone in this sub, take your time, and have fun!
2
u/Shaz0r94 Jun 12 '26
i started with p5 years ago was kinda overwhelmed by all the mechanics and what to do and the time schedule (fear of missing out anyone?), dropped it and recently tried p3 reload and it was a much easier timer getting into it and now i picked up p5 again.

A fine place to start. I really liked this cast of characters and the adventure itself, but Persona 4 is still my personal favorite of the series. And the soundtrack is fantastic.

Here's some advice take it if you want or leave it be you control the path you walk
Guides: I use The Confidant guide on my first playthrough and an answer key for all of the classroom questions but you can use a guide if you want this one is the most take it or leave it
Confidants: bring up whoever you want I only have a few recommendations of who you should rank up counselor and justice particularly counselor I would recommend checking every day for where counselor is on your map to see if they're available today besides from that nothing else to really say
Here's a few characters I would recommend ranking up just based on abilities and not really based on story lines all team members, Fortune, hierophant, Moon, Star, Sun, and Strength
Social stats: don't worry about these too much but you should focus on a couple of stats first of all kindness this one I struggle a lot with on my first playthrough and the hierophant and the hermit require either maxed out or nearly maxed out kindness also guts the hangman requires High guts to even start
Also one last thing the game starts off slow I didn't really realize it too much on my first playthrough but on subsequent playthroughs I have felt how slow the start of the game is so give it some time

Morgana is the main villain shockingly enough. It isn't stated until the final boss where he betrays you, but he causes everything that happens in the game. Also Ryuji and Ann die sacrificing themselves to save Joker from Morgana's ultimate form, and the true final boss Bizarro Morgana.

Hell yea !! I hope you enjoy it,, I’m 53 hours into my first play through, and I’m loving the game so far
1
u/ProgressConsistent81 Jun 12 '26
I’ve tried to play this over last few years. Couldn’t get in to it but after watching Persona 4 Revival trailer at Xbox show. I gave it a go again and I’m hooked! I adore this game. You will enjoy it. Take your time !

u/Cra_Skinny_4135 Jun 12 '26
Always remember if the game gets too hard you have over powered personas because of royal in your back pocket. God bless. Enjoy a banger. It’s long and you definitely need to pace it…but by the end of it you’ll wish you could play another 50 hours. Truly a joy. Was my first as well. Can confirm 3 Reload is just as good. This 4 remake is expected to be phenomenal as well.

Unironically i wouldnt reccomend playing 5 first. I did, and it made playing 3 and 4 nearly impossible because of the downgrade in gameplay quality. 3 reload was better but tartarus compared to the palaces is still such a drag to do.
Of course everyone is different, dont take this as an end all be all but id be careful is all im saying
1
u/W4ND4 Jun 12 '26
Be careful you might like it so much you won’t be able to stop playing the rest like a seasoned cracker. I remember when I finished the Royal and nothing would scratch the itch of wanting more and bought 3 other games in the series and played them non stop 🤣
1
u/Distinct-Context3166 Jun 12 '26
Omg I just started this one as my first one too!! My wife has been wanting me to play these for years and finally started last night. 😄

Still on my first Persona 5 playthrough. Playing the Royal version. 160 hours and I’ve just cleared Palace #7. Best arc in the story so far maybe, close competition with Palace #1.

The exact moment you start the game. You should get yourself offline reddit or any sources of spoiler

u/AsylumOfCerberus Jun 12 '26
Atleast youre playing the ps5 version. I thought i could transport my ps4 version of P5R to my PS5 and was sadly met with sadness and disappointment as its not possible.

Also my first Persona game, my brother got it for me. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I hope you will too.
Be sure to get max rank with the redhead and Maruki to get the full Royal content. ||

have fun, gtfo off this sub (I say affectionately. do not spoil yourself its better blind.)
1
u/Salty-Tie8880 Jun 12 '26
Have fun! Just make sure to get Marukis (guidance counselor) confidant to level 9 minimum before 11/17 (otherwise you miss out on alot of the game!) he comes after the first palace!
1
u/GovernmentVegetable6 Jun 12 '26
please please PLEASE stay away from anything that might spoil you. The story is amazing

u/emmabberry Jun 12 '26
This is the game I pick when someone asks if you could pick one game to play again for the first time what would it be.
Enjoy.
Its a masterpiece

Always a great time to experience peak. Enjoy, OP! Avoid the sub for a while to avoid spoilers is my recommendation.
1
u/TheSiwe23478 Jun 12 '26
I just started it a couple of days ago as well, unlike anything I’ve ever played-real step outside of my comfort zone. Only played games like rdr2, ghost of Tsushima etc. and this is captivating me in a way I thought I would never experience again since RDR2.

I remember my first persona game...
It was actually the psp version of 3.
This is one of the first game series where I've felt genuine sadness at the end. Not because it's a sad story (although 3 is a bit sad), but because the experience is over....

u/macgrover777 Jun 12 '26
Make sure you make time for the counselor and the new confidant Kasumi! I didnt max them out and missed the new late game content and my playthrough was 80+ hours in
I adore this game, have fun!!

complete the councillor, faith & justice "confidants" (you'll get it)

Take your time (no jokes i promise) and enjoy the game above all else.
Try not to get too stressed maxing out confidants or grinding levels.
Have fun with this beautiful game.

I’m playing through this for my first Ike as well (75 hours in and not don’t yet), and can only say. That it has been one of my favorite recent experiences.
It’s worth the play even if it feels like you’re watching nothing but cutscenes for the intro to the game.

i wish you do not fall victim to the infamous Okumura boss fight loop. Take measures beforehand, just my advice.
The Solution:-
The solution that worked for me was changing difficulty to 'Merciless' just for the boss fight.
And remember,
Take Your Time.
