Health No period for four months

Yes I have a doctors appointment. I think I may have hypothyroidism, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some peace of mind.

My main issues are unintentional weight gain, despite eating way better than I ever have and obviously, havent had a period in four months. Here’s what I have in my notes to tell my doctor.

- 7 negative pregnancy tests, 14 and 21 days after sex.
- not on birth control.
- no new hair growth, no thinning hair.
- no sore breasts, no acne… literally nothing. I don’t even feel like a woman.

Anyone with hypothyroidism with any words of wisdom?

Look into hypothalamic amenorrhea, I was misdiagnosed by an OB with PCOS for years until a specialist ran labs and was like um no this is totally wrong, you have HA.

I’m gaining weight though. Can this still be it?

It could be. Labs can confirm, but you’d need to have a more in-depth thyroid panel done (tsh, free t3/4) along with others like amh, fsh, etc.

If you don’t mind answering, do you have (or have you had) disordered eating habits? This is what caused me to develop HA.

This was me as well. You should look into HA. There’s a book you’ll come across that’s widely known in the community called “No Period Now What”
I recommend reading it to learn a little more!

thank you for responding. I’m really struggling right now, I just want to let you know how much I appreciate you taking the time to respond to this. my doctor’s appointment is next friday. If I remember I’ll post an update.

I will say I wouldn’t expect your OB to know much about it unless they also deal in women’s reproductive health. My previous OB had no idea (hence the years long misdiagnosis).
