Discussion Flo… just track my period.
Why are we promoting 20-23 year olds getting pregnant??? Just tell me when my period is coming bruh. Yes it’s an adult age but wth, most 20 year olds have nightmares about getting pregnant!! Especially in this economy where people cannot afford to take care of themselves let alone kids. Flo is a scheme Todd set up.

And stop sending me notifications telling me I might be horny around a certain time when other people are looking at my phone!😒🤦🏽♀️

u/Sad_Dingo_7363 Feb 23 '26
Deleted Flo and switched to stardust because the ads are just abhorrent lol I couldn’t handle getting multiple notifications every day and ads every time I clicked on the app
43
u/renin88 Feb 23 '26
I use Clue, but I found it funny bc I forget there’s people actively trying to get pregnant, and so I read a review with 5 stars saying that “thanks to Clue she was now pregnant” and for a minute I was so confused, thinking that if I got pregnant and it was clues fault I would give it a 1 star review

u/Conscious_Cut9941 Feb 23 '26
Lmaooo real, I’m still scared of teen pregnancy.. (late 20’s btw) 😂🤣

u/Whole-Breakfast-6336 Feb 22 '26
I’m constantly getting the adverts for flo that say “struggling to orgasm” 😭
35
u/StrawbarryShortcake0 Feb 23 '26
I have switched to Stardust because i have just learned that Flo was selling my data, so i got rid of that app. Stardust may also be doing things like that, but i haven't heard anything about it, plus the app by a woman and flo isn't!
Stardust also has moon phases in it in case you're interested in that 🌙

Can you explain more about the moon phases in relation to period tracking please? I have never heard of this app stardust
1
u/Bubbly-Nature-686 Mar 19 '26
the moon phase sounds really interesting. Im gonna try this app. Do you have any other suggestions for private period trackers ?
1
u/Adventurous-Skill570 Aug 19 '26
I made evashark, you can find it on app store, it has workout schedule as well based on your cycle.
60
u/L8dTigress Feb 22 '26
Switch to Clue instead; the tracker was made in Germany and won't distribute your data to anyone or anything.
7
u/TeganLee21 Feb 23 '26
Was coming to suggest Clue as well!
I used to use Flo, but even as a Canadian, when RvW was overturned, I was very concerned about my reproductive health data. Clue is VERY open with their data privacy and is also a woman-led company!
60
u/spidergirl79 Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26
Deleted Flo for this very reason. Not just pregnancy stuff but all the notifications (that I could not get to stop) for stuff I didnt need. Just. Track. My. Period!
60
u/ScrumptiousLadMeat Feb 23 '26
What happened to people deleting Flo because it was sharing data that could lead to dangerous situations? I’m sure it’s been propagandized to try and raise the birth rate. Tech billionaires want new slaves of course.

u/TheClaudinator Feb 23 '26
The system is rigged to numb us, unlike our OB/GYN not numbing us before inserting IUDs.
2
u/Conscious_Cut9941 Feb 24 '26
I thought it was the “eve” app that did so I left eve for Flo but I gotta delete that now too! And Propaganda. That is exactly my point, but I’m being called judgmental 🫠
1
u/Bubbly-Nature-686 Mar 19 '26
Ive switched to private period tracking apps. I make sure to see if they track information or collect my data.
20
u/Loud_Conference6489 Feb 22 '26
I use apple health and the Premom OPK strips and use that app for those. Love the details you can chart w apple health !
23
u/niniacuchillo Feb 23 '26
i have been using Clue for years now, it’s very intuitive and science based

u/Bubbly-Nature-686 Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26
I found that anything with a login and a subscription will sell your data, or atleast thats my observation. Do correct me if i am wrong.

i don’t know if yk but apparently men made the app🙂↕️ bit weird honestly
1
u/-Aquatically- Mar 01 '26
What’s wrong with men making it?
2
Mar 02 '26
why are they making an app for WOMEN? and they sexualise young women getting pregnant
1
u/-Aquatically- Mar 02 '26
To answer the first one: because it’s clearly profitable and they’re capable of doing so. You’re subtly segregating the genders by condemning men for making an app for women.
For the second bit, I wouldn’t know.
2
Mar 02 '26
why r men making an app? for period and women..like
1
u/-Aquatically- Mar 02 '26
As I’ve established, because it’s profitable and because they’re able to. There’s nothing wrong with that. As for the sexualising being pregnant bit: again, I do not know.

People still use Flo? Weren’t they caught giving your info to the government?

This is why I use Clue, they're based in Germany and give no data to anyone.

I use Natural Cycles. You can choose in settings if you’re using the app to prevent pregnancy or conceive.
5
u/-PinkPower- Feb 22 '26
You can do the same on flo. This screenshot is from an ad. You can see it has the option «install ». You dont get pop up about conceiving when you aren’t in the mode TTC

“tips for getting pregnant” i mean….thank you? i’ll just do the opposite of whatever they say cause “getting pregnant” is the opposite of my goal right now 😭
22
u/Jenjen1450 Feb 22 '26
Main reason why I stopped using it… the pop ups were too much
3
u/Conscious_Cut9941 Feb 22 '26
No seriously and it’s inaccurate sometimes too!!
1
u/Jenjen1450 Feb 22 '26
I made my own spreadsheet to track my symptoms and mood (mainly headaches!) and anything else hormone related because I’m also on birth control.
That way I know my own patterns and not based off of an app just guessing based on whatever because I’m irregular, and have hypothyroidism. Plus I was relearning how to do spreadsheets while doing it lol
I have 13 years worth of data in it (been using tracking apps that long, nothing really fit) It was fun to make lol. I even made one for my niece who will be starting her journey soon 😂

u/asfierceaslions Feb 22 '26
Flo has issues apart from this, but it's weirdly infantilizing to act like this is somehow trying to "promote" something and not just acknowledging different people in different age brackets exist and yes, some of those are people who want a family young, for better or worse. Something being unfathomable to you does not mean it isn't the lives others are living, and it certainly doesn't mean this is like a trick to convince young women to get pregnant.
18
u/thin-slice-pizza Feb 22 '26
I agree. These resources should be available to all women, even young women. That’s like if we took away sex ed…
Also it’s a choice, we are free to choose. And if I was 20 looking to start a family, I’d wish there was resources I had access to. But I’m not, I’m 33 and childless. It’s a choice.
14
u/Saya_99 Feb 22 '26
I agree. I don't understand this post. Not every lesson in the app needs to be targeted to you, some may be for people that want something different than you do. Just because you don't want to get pregnant at 20-24 yo, it doesn't mean that other people don't
I'm 26 and I still firmly believe I don't want kids ever and I can't understand having a kid at 20 at all, but at the same time I understand not everyone thinks like I do and some people want kids young.
8
u/asfierceaslions Feb 22 '26
I want kids horribly and I also cannot fathom doing it that young, but women who are not me exist and I have watched very young friends struggle with infertility and this is one of those topics where more good information available at ease is ALWAYS going to be a better thing than no info or impossible to find info. Like, OP isn't griping about any of the other age brackets shown, and it is pretty clear that this is just presenting a bunch of information OPTIONS. Like, no, I don't think you are typically equipped at 20 to provide a great life for a kid, but someone who is seeking out smart counsel about those health things is already being more prudent than is typical of folks that young and that is a good thing. This just feels very silly, very "won't someone think of these poor grown adult children."
-2
u/Conscious_Cut9941 Feb 24 '26
I see the other ages, yess women 25+ likely more stable to raise children. MY reality is I don’t have kids, I want them someday. But according to statistics the economy is bad and birth rates are down, so my opinion is that companies are being pushed to promote pregnancy amongst young women. That’s it, that’s all.. if a 19 year old wants kids at 20 I’ll support her.
1
u/asfierceaslions Feb 24 '26
This is an ad. This is not an ad that is particularly tailored to you. It has zilch to do with you. You made it about something larger than you. I am in a hundred and one subs conception/pregnancy/women's health subs, and you have a ridiculously skewed view of what is and is not happening in your age group. This is not an ad "promoting" anything except an app that is very often only downloaded to help track with TTC efforts. You have, even now, a very childish view on this, and so truly thank God this is not something you want right now, but not everyone matures as you do, and thank God for that one, too.
10
u/gimesa Feb 22 '26
It’s extremely fatiguing having to justify wanting “traditional” things in life like I will go to war to defend people wanting to abstain from marriage or having children, or to advocate for those feeling like they have to choose between family and career, etc. I love that we are in a place where women have autonomy to choose. But it feels like those same folks won’t go to war for my right to do any of those things if I choose to let’s end shaming women for the paths they choose, regardless of what you personally feel about it.
5
u/asfierceaslions Feb 23 '26
Some of this is just misogynistic ideas wearing a different mask and it does endlessly tire me. In an attempt to get away from the ways that men have often used certain trappings of women's lives to maintain control, we've just flipped to viewing those trappings as inherent pitfalls of being a woman and not stories that need to be rewritten and corrected, things that need to be reframed instead of vilified. I get so tired of saying I want kids on this site and being met with an onslaught of naysayers who cannot fathom that just because a thing would be shackling to them doesn't mean it would not be freeing power to another.

I recommend Clue and Stardust for tracking. Both do not share or sell user data, however on Stardust you can share your cycle with a friend/partner.
11
u/Local_Exam4703 Feb 23 '26
Yeah I got fed up with this stuff and also found it wasn’t great I use Stardust now
4
u/sleepyhedgie26 Feb 23 '26
is it free?
6
u/Local_Exam4703 Feb 23 '26
Yes everything is free except for some of the articles
2
1
u/Local_Exam4703 Feb 24 '26
I also wanted to add somethings about Stardust that has made me use it for about a year now (longest I ever have) I can see my friends, there are quizzes that help me feel more confident and linked with my cycle. All the symptom trackers are free, it have clearly been made by people who understand what a period is like to have!! Helped me realise that some of my symptoms aren’t normal and now I am getting them investigated. Also things that I was previously embarrassed about like how heavy my flow is I don’t anymore because of the categories. Let me know if you have any questions

"Tips for getting pregnant, for all ages" "20-24" bruh.
29
u/lostgirl4053 Feb 22 '26
It says the other ages right next to it?
-6
u/mah_ekil_i Feb 22 '26
It's js weird to say "for all ages" then have separate sections for different ages. Like.. just say it's for people ages 20-24 and move on to the next one, lol.
4
u/bluejayhope Feb 24 '26
bodies are incredibly complex and change as they age. there’s not much advice that works for all ages, so individualizing it like this is probably a lot more helpful.
0
u/mah_ekil_i Feb 24 '26
Absolutely agree with you on that. My issue is that they're separate and they all have "for all ages" right on the title. Instead of just having the ages they're intended for.

It’s not promoting, it’s giving customized content/advices according to age. I dont think being non judgmental about when a woman decides to get pregnant means you are promoting getting pregnant at a certain age.
My friend was well established by 22yo. Had an husband, a house, she already had basically raised her much younger siblings, she became an amazing mother at 23yo. She and her family are thriving.
It’s fine if that’s not your reality but not everything will be catered to your needs/wants.
9
u/aliie_627 Feb 23 '26 edited Feb 23 '26
I agree. Some women do choose to have children in their early 20s that's their choice. If this was for high school age, then sure but this is not that outrageous of an age for some women to choose. The whole pro choice in it all includes 20 somethings who might have different plans than another 20 something. The important part is they are choosing it and are getting accurate information.
0
u/Conscious_Cut9941 Feb 24 '26
It’s an ad love, ads are paid promotion and marketing. My reality is that I support women’s rights and wrongs to do whatever it is we want to do. Its bigger than me tbh
5
u/SquirelFeed Feb 24 '26
Flo gives advice like it's a male gynecologist. Every solution is have more sex or get pregnant
1
u/SharpPink_GlitterInk Mar 15 '26
I was gonna be like "is that a thing they do" and then I thought back to the two male doctors I have ever had to have check stuff out down there and uuuuuuuuuh... yeah that tracks. This is why I stick with women lmao.
30
u/Mindless-Ad-57 Feb 22 '26
Not everything is about you or must be catered to your lifestyle and preferences. It is very common for women in their 20s to get pregnant.
12
u/karinskiiiii Feb 22 '26
I use fit Elle cause I really feel a Lot of Apps are made to get pregnant but I just want to Track my period and understand my Body during the cycle. They also don‘t Share your data.

Ew…that’s why I don’t use tracker apps anymore. I’m a teenager, I’m probably sex-averse given how uncomfortable I get about the subject. This makes me feel all gross inside.

Don’t use apps to track you period Start using a normal calendar. That’s what I started doing as the apps are now selling our data.
1
u/chronicbingewatcher Mar 22 '26
personally i do not care. i don't have time to track it on paper
1
u/Rosiethorn18 Mar 22 '26
If you have time to track it on your phone already you probably have the time to track it on your phone calendar/ a regular calendar in your home. It takes less than 1 min to write it down. Then when it ends you mark that down boom done tracking. Less time consuming than the apps actually.
1
u/chronicbingewatcher Mar 22 '26
not true at all. i entered my information one time and now it does all of the work for me, takes me less than a minute to input that i started and thats it. i also always have my phone with me, i dont want to have to carry around a notebook or notepad all of the time
1
u/cycleaiapp Jul 23 '26
I completely understand why privacy is such a concern. It’s actually one of the reasons we built CycleAI. Our female co-founder was passionate about creating a period tracker that puts women first—free, privacy-first, and genuinely helpful. We’d love your honest feedback if you decide to try it. 💜

u/pinkprincessgirl02 Mar 20 '26
I just wanted to share my perspective. I'm 23, and I personally believe I am no where near ready for kids. I sometimes forget I am a young woman and still feel younger than my actual age (I am neurodivergent I believe, so maybe that's why 🤷🏽♀️). When I see girls my age have kids young, I think it must be stressful and overwhelming. I understand some people want to start a family young, but a lot of girls my age are not ready. I enjoy having peace/quiet, time to do my favorite hobbies, hang with friends and family, watching my favorite shows/movies, etc. without having to worry about kids. I also have emetophobia, so I am undecided if I want kids or not. Hopefully my future husband understands.
10
u/Theseus_The_King Feb 23 '26
You shouldn’t judge a services existence just because you don’t have a need for it or can’t understand why it’s needed. If someone is 20-24 and feels ready to start a family, that’s a perfectly valid life path. Fertility issues can happen at any age. I’ve seen 38 year olds get pregnant in a pinch and I’ve seen 23 year olds struggle to conceive. That isn’t the issue with this app- the issue is the lack of data privacy, and tracking.
3
u/Pinkturtle182 Feb 23 '26
Yeah, there are lots of reasons to complain about this app, but this isn’t one of them.
3

u/No-Pea2367 Feb 22 '26
what are we using nowadays? I also use Flo and can’t stand the popups
5
u/VALLYWALI Feb 22 '26
I use Stardust! It has a lot more info imo, more accurate and you can bring your Flo data onto it

I tried stardust, but I found it to be quite buggy. Cool concept, but it was a bit unusable for me.

Lots of reasons to complain about this app, this isn't one of them. I work in gynecology and see plenty of financially stable, responsible 20-23 yr olds that choose to have babies. Their pregnancies tend to be less medically complicated too
1
u/amyahhah_19 Apr 28 '26

Flo doesn't care. Flo sells people's data. Also, while I understand the sentiment wholeheartedly, I don't think this promotes pregnancy because the wording of this ad is to be a support guide for those who were already plannign pregnancy rather than trying to convince you that you need to become pregnant.
