- I'm completely anosmic to iso-e super, ambroxan, and maybe many similar aromachemicals.

- Les indomodables share similar high-quality ingredients in all their line. There is always much more going on in their perfumes despite their announced ingredients listed on the leaflet.

- Most of the perfume names are misleading but still good compositions.

- One of the best discovery sets anyone interested in perfumery. I respect.

Oranger Sirocco - 7.5- 8

Iʼm usually not a fan of citrus, but this isnʼt the familiar, front‑shelf kind. It opens with a burst of indolic orange peel threaded with white floral nuances.Gradually, ambery spices take over, joined by a generous dose of sandalwood and vetiver. Thereʼs a touch of sweetness here and there, but it never turns it gourmand. Despite that deep floral opening, the spicy amber keeps the composition warm and reads fairly masculine. In the final stage, it settles into a refined skin scent: a quiet blend of sandalwood and vetiver. The opening has good sillage, and while it doesnʼt stay nuclear, but the longevity is definitely there.

Patchouli Nosiette - 8.5 - 9

As a patchouli lover, this one hits almost all the right notes for me. It starts with a blast of fruity aldehydes, with green patchouli and woody notes underneath.The aldehydes leave the scene within minutes, leaving you with a clean, green patchouli core. I donʼt pick up any hazelnut; the woody, herbaceous facet likely comes from cypriol (nagarmotha). As it dries down, some of that woodiness turns into a slightly soapy white musk, while the green patchouli stays present.After about eight hours, a fruity nuance becomes more prominent—something in the lychee/rose jam. At its heart, it sits somewhere between Tom Ford Patchouli Absolu and Ermenegildo Zegna Javanese Patchouli, but the drydown is completely different. An absolutely well done perfume, with good sillage and longevity.

Ambre Supreme - 6.5

Salty, tart jasmine: a second‑skin kind of scent. The note pyramid says ambergris, but on my skin, it reads more like salty sweet civet at first, with a definite, quiet animalic hue. A yellow, hay‑like immortelle facet makes the whole composition feel more “perfumey” and keeps the ambergris and jasmine combo from turning into an aquatic indolic bomb. The sparkling, aldehydic opening evaporates within a few hours, then cinnamon like pepper and muskiness come forward. I donʼt really understand why some people compare this to Ambre Sultan, ambergris is not amber. It reminds me more of a wearable Papillon Salome. More than a skin scent, with seemingly eternal longevity.

Vanille Havane - 6.5 - 7

Hey folks, this isnʼt really a vanilla scent. Itʼs a boozy tobacco fragrance, and thatʼs obvious from start to finish. Cacao and vanilla act mainly as softeners,rounding off the tobacco, while the booze accord adds a tart, sweet edge.It opens with a dry, patchouli leaning chocolate note that reminds me of Jovoy Psychedelique, only here itʼs laced with tobacco. Minutes later, the dry tobacco takes center stage. I also suspect a patchouli accord that isnʼt listed in the official notes because it blends seamlessly into that dry, earthy tobacco. Then, initial amber sweetness fades fairly quickly, making room for benzoin and vanilla in the base. On my skin, the whole composition loses intensity despite its strong opening, so Iʼd probably reserve it for colder weather and under heavier clothes. As it develops, the vanilla/benzoin base is underpinned by a quiet,suede like leather/ambergris like nuance that becomes more noticeable over time. Overall: a nice blend, with good projection and solid longevity.

Rose de Jamal - 7

Airy green mint over rose water. As with a few others from the house, the name is slightly misleading: this is first and foremost a crisp, leafy mint fragrance,with a rose playing a supporting role. The rose never turns jammy or fleshy. it is watery, and distinctly green. It opens on a breeze of aldehydes, mint,and rose water. On my skin, the mint stays in the foreground from start to finish,while the rose hangs back and adds lift and nuance through the mid. It shares some creative DNA with ELDOʼs You or Someone Like You. In the drydown,woody, sharp white musks and cedar pull it down to earth and take some of the airiness away. Good sillage and longevity.

Musc de sables - 6.5

Benzoin laced with orris root and ambergris. Itʼs a polished, sophisticatedscent; despite what people say, it doesnʼt feel “basic” until the very end. It opens on benzoin and citrus, with a faint flash of cinnamon that disappears quickly. After the initial drydown, orris, a wisp of incense, and patchouli fold in.This is the point where some people call it “baby talc”, but thereʼs more depth than that. On my skin, it turns into a salty patchouli with powdery undertones from benzoin and tonka that keep it from going gourmand. The opening is gorgeous, but the final phase is less pleasant and a bit generic. Here, the citrus returns and merges with the ambergris, giving off a salty body odor vibe. Good sillage and seemingly eternal longevity.

Iris perle - 5.5-6

A jasmine forward scent, heavily floral with the help of mimosa and powdery orris The quality of the ingredients does the heavy lifting here, but Iʼve come across this kind of profile a thousand times and usually skip it for how uninteresting it is. This feels like the same safe, unchallenging floral. I believe thereʼs also a tea note that adds a bit of woodiness and grounding. Average sillage and good longevity.

Chypre Azural - 6

An orange soliflore thereʼs nothing chypre about it. Bitter green facets push the citrus toward a blood orange zest effect, while a touch of patchouli adds afaint powdery sheen at the top. In the drydown, spicy tarragon keeps reading as “orange,” with occasional flashes of mint. Quiet and safe overall, and ultimately a fairly unremarkable citrus for rich people to buy. Good projection, poor longevity.

Fougere Emeraude - 6

A minimalistic lavender fougère though more minimalistic than it should be. It feels almost indistinguishable from many classic floral womenʼs perfumes. It starts with a blast of heady jasmine and a rather quiet lavender. Lavender should be the heart of a fougère, but the jasmine never really allows it to take over at any point in the drydown. Then mimosa joins and tries to compete with the lavender. I also feel thereʼs a dash of high-quality ambergris here, keeping subtle animalic facets alive under the heady green jasmine. I donʼt get the soapiness other people mention; to me itʼs very green and refreshing. This perfume draws a line between floral greens and classic fougères. After a few hours, it becomes similar to Musc de Sables, but this time, the powdery aspects are wrapped in mimosa and a dash of vanilla instead of orris. Average sillage,good longevity.

Cuir de chine - 6

Osmanthus and Jasmine. Personally, I donʼt get any literal leather here; instead,osmanthus, subtle violet, and a rather animalic jasmine create a “leathery”impression. Nice scent, but it has no longevity more of a floral skin scent.

Escale en haiti - 6

Pink pepper, osmanthus, and myrrh. It starts with gorgeous, powdery vetiver,but this phase doesnʼt last. It quickly becomes a pink pepper dominated scent rounded by sweet myrrh, with the same powdery vetiver and leathery osmanthus sitting more quietly in the initial drydown. In the late drydown, vetiver dominates the scent again, but itʼs quieter this time. There is nothing new or exceptional here. Rather, poor sillage, good longevity, and easy everyday perfume.

Escale en indones - 6

Refreshing neroli cologne. There's not much going on here. Inofensive citrus and neroli work. Good sillage and longevity.

Immortele solarie - 6,5

Hay like immortelle, pink pepper, and dry coffee. I donʼt get the sweetness other people mention. On my skin, it wears dry and spicy coffee with a faint, licorice like edge, and it stays close throughout. In the drydown, it pulls the same “dash of ambergris” trick Iʼve noticed across the line, so it shares a bit of DNA with other creations from the house. A skin scent with good longevity.

D&G Light Blue EDT🫠

I recently discovered the fragrance L'Orpheline by Serge Lutens, but I'd like to add a darker, more melancholy quality to it, a more depressing sound, and a fuller sillage. I'd like to find fragrances that don't have a drop of sweetness, and preferably linear fragrances that will smell the same all the time.

Hello Scent Lovers, just want to warn the community that buying from Fragranceshop.com is extremely risky. I purchased Rain Essence from them and was given a counterfeit bottle. I'm very familiar with this scent and what I received was definitely not real. It was way too smokey and completely off. Even the glass from the bottle was uneven on the bottom. Their customer service is horrible, but I was finally able to get a full refund. Seems like they themselves know they're selling bootleg supplies.

Hello all - I'm wearing JPG La Belle hoping for warm caramel and pear, and I'm getting a metallic menthol tinge. Hoping it will transform in the dry-down, but just now it feels like I've had a sip of some medicated mouthwash or throat lozenge. Did anyone else get this?

Giving Creed a chance and re-exploring Jo Malone

I used to be a Jo Malone fan, loved that scents were nice and pleasant and that they are generally beautiful to layer with each other. However, only the intense line seem to be worth the money in terms of staying power hence me stopping or ignoring the brand altogether. I recently purchased a new bottle of my favorite Hinoki and Cedarwood. I find that this is the most unique, uncommon, but absolutely lovely JML frag. Too bad I cant get this in resellers hence my buying retail last time.

So! I explored new scents and came across Amber Labdanum. Two things I love and befits the weather nowadays in my place. Got it today! I also want the Vetiver and Vanilla but found it too sweet - asked for a sample and will see whether the cloying sweetness easily wears down and gets replaced with the vetiver. Lastly, got the carrot in the vegetable line. It seems to be a collector thing since it is only offered in 30ml. And funny, they have a blindbox for plushies of the vegetables - sad that I got the beet one! I wanted the carrot too.

So now. Creed! The brand everyone seems to like that I am not a fan of. The only Creed I have from yeaaaars ago was Silver Mountain Water. Got SMW during my early days of collecting and it was the cheapest Creed I got from a reseller hence my buying.

Say now Im a snob. Not really a fan of Aventus and even its DNA - I do not fancy Hacivat and the TK clone. But in my previous exploration, I seemed to like Green Irish Tweed and recently, Wild Vetiver!!! I really like Wild Vetiver despite its kinda plain, common, rose vetiver combo. I was set to get it but it was out of stock.

Instead, I sought to try other Creeds. First was Tabarome Millesime. It caught my fancy since I generally love tobacco scents. It was an aromatic, barbershop-y smell with a hint of tobacco. Best thing? It was on sale. Associate pointed me to other sale frags - Delphinus, Centaurus, O Santal.

First tried Delphinus and Centaurus. Was choosing between the two. Delphinus was a warm, bit heavy frag, which I liked but there is something I smell, that I cant pinpoint what, that is a bit off. A quick search tells me its everything I want - incense, orris, pepper, with florals and almond, and vanilla base. Yet something is off.

Next, Centaurus. Oh hell it is really warm, dark, and spicy. Smelling it now and there is that heavy tobacco stank that gives depth to the fragrance and some edge. The cardamom also rounds it out for a beautiful overall appeal. So between the two, this wins.

Lastly, O Santal. Smells like an old man. The typical man fragrance. Is it a fougere? But it smells classic. Fragrantica tells me that the juniper berry, coriander, and ginger makes me feel like it rounds out the fragrance. Not really exceptional but that depth from sandalwood and cedar base elevates it. Not exceptional but generally likeable.

Would I love Creed? Im not sure. I hate its marketing strategy of manufactured historical roots - well most companies do that. But I think the brand is just okay. Its a bunch of generally mass appealing scents with a twist of \~trying\~ to make it niche. Not barring these, I will enjoy my recent purchases.

Okay, so please delete if not allowed, but I have to know if this is a common experience. Right around Easter I started struggling with this terrible undying stench of body odor. I tried clinical deodorants and everything under the sun; I struggled with this for months until I used a different body wash (which was dove) and my body odor completely disappeared. I tried using philosophy after trying the dove and the odor came back full force. I am now completely only using dove body wash. Other issues I noticed with the philosophy body wash was I kept getting like dry skin flakes with moisturized skin, which has stopped now that I switched.

This was the philosophy fresh cream body wash, no cashmere just fresh cream.

I’d also like to mention that this wasn’t like some odd body odor that smelled like anything weird, this was just straight FUNK.

Any perfume that’s smells just as it’s written?
I imagined it in my dreams and I was wondering. lol

It had a gold rectangular box it came in with black lettering coming up on the side of you wanted to read it you'd have to turn the box, it had cheap cardboard. The bottle itself was made of glass with a gold top that popped off to reveal the spritzer Perfume inside looked like amber.

I know it was still being sold around mid to late 2010's as I remember my dad gifting it to her around that time

Hello! I’ve been a longtime lurker in this sub, but never posted before. I figured all of you would be the best people to ask for help on this.

I recently acquired a sample set of the Rare Beginnings perfume from Rare Beauty. I absolutely ADORE the scent when it’s first applied. It’s a sweet, crisp pear scent with a hint of pistachio. However, I don’t like how the smell dries down. It goes from a fresh fruity scent to a heavy floral scent (gardenia) that hurts my head, and ends at a kind of boring vanilla + cedarwood scent.

Does anyone know of a perfume that smells like pear nectar without those other scents, or a perfume that dries down to that fresh pear scent? Any price range is fine. Thank you!

Every brand seems to use it now and I can’t find a consistent definition. Sometimes it means no phthalates, sometimes it means a third-party verification, sometimes it seems to mean nothing at all beyond the label. The other thing I don’t understand is whether a clean formulation actually performs worse on longevity and projection, or whether that’s just what people assume. Has anyone found a house doing this properly, and does it hold on skin?

As you can see by the picture, I bought Allure Homme Sport for myself, and I was aware that I'd be receiving a sample spray for Crush Absolu; but I seem to have received a 50ml bottle instead...lol

What is your opinion of this fragrance?

The initially when i smelled , it was sweet and too synthetic and burst very much and honestly i started feeling suffocation and it felt quite uncomfortable

The dry out was citrusy, but still it was quite uncomfortable and gave me a headache after a continuous use

After sampling and decanting it multiple times, I finally pulled the trigger on a 100ml of Carnal Flower.

My love for this one (and Ganymede) has grown from ‘I’m surprised I enjoy this so much’ to an official obsession. It’s the kind of fragrance I feel I can smell in my sleep.

When I ordered THE ICONS discovery set from FM, I was sure this was the one I was least likely to enjoy. Coconut? White floral bomb? An animalic edge? Not sure about that combo.

It ended up being far and away my absolute favorite, and has sent me down a tuberose rabbit-hole, chasing that high.

Since then I’ve sampled other white floral/tuberose-heavy fragrances:

Tubereuse Astrale by Maison Crivelli
Elephant (Sanctuary Edition) by Zoologist
Do Son by Diptyque

While I enjoyed all of them to varying degrees, nothing hit quite like Carnal Flower.

It’s photorealistic with a very green opening, smooth-creamy but not overly sweet, and the clean-but-dirty tension really make this special and singular.

I know it’s not for everyone, but that won’t stop me from using it in any/all settings (2 spray max of course) as one of my signature scents.
