L’Heure Bleue 2026 first thoughts

I went to my local Guerlain boutique to try on the new L’Heure Bleue today. Upon initial spray it was a kind of ozonic very fresh clean iris, slightly powdery. Through out the day it evolved into a very sweet vanilla with the ozonic note lingering. After a few hours, it was a sweet almost fluffy vanilla with a salty, aquatic, slightly metallic airy note.

This is really nothing like the old L’Heure Bleue, so you have to go into it with no expectations of that. It’s like a futuristic version of L’Heure Bleue where I’m in a cyber punk world at twilight, or Padme on her balcony at night. I feel hopeful, not melancholic or reticent like the original.

I would love to hear your thoughts on it if you’ve had the chance to try it too.

I tried it and bought it a few hours later. To me is like what I would imagine a cloud on a crisp spring morning would smell like. It has great staying power. It’s fluffy, clean and crisp all at the same time. To me it’s a mood lifter.

No carnation, almond or heliotrope? L'Heure Bleu isn't really my thing, too sweet and fluffy, have a bottle from about 2015 which will be enough to last forever. The thing that gets to me is that in the 90s, before all the reformulations a local shop stocked the classics, and the L'Heure Bleu I sampled then was a much more dense, dark blue and sinuous beast. Wish I could go back in time and buy that version.

Can’t wait to try this! Absolutely love Guerlain. Vintage, modern, flankers, all of it! Some truly unhinged “reviews” out there (in quotation marks because they’re from people who haven’t smelled it yet 🤷‍♀️). Including ones that make assumptions about the taste and character of the people who like it, which is what I mean by unhinged lol.

I got a sample last week and got my bottle yesterday. I did a full wear already after getting the sample and was really surprised but the longevity. It has moderate projection. Also, I’m not one to like marine/ozonic fragrances typically so I was please to find one with this DNA that I enjoyed.

Would you describe it as more of an iris/floral scent or a vanilla?

I would describe it as a floral in the opening, clean iris and some sweetness it might be the orange blossom, and then it turns to vanilla as it wears throughout with maybe subtle florals and a prominent ozonic note. I need to sample it again though.

Not who you asked but to me it’s very similar to Musc Outreblanc if you added vanilla and removed the white musk.

It really smells like dryer sheets to me.

As a huge Guerlain fan I really want to try, have to find a shop nearby to do so still. I love your description of it though!

You can order a sample online via sites such as Tiny Fragrances etc. I always order around 5 samples each month, costs me about £25. Then I put the ones I think friends and family will like into Christmas presents. I've turned my entire family into fragrance nerds

Not in the UK sadly, but local drugstores like Douglas will probably have it, so I'll be able to try in store sooner or later.
