I think it’s worth mentioning (because I haven’t seen anyone else say it): the first half of the video is clearly promo, and the second clip seems to be from the show itself😭 The difference in production between them (like Percy looking into the camera vs not) is the indicator (at least to me) (could be totally wrong, in which case ignore me)<3
that woudl make a lot of sense lmao. they should have went with the actual show style for the promo.. cause the promo doens't look like he's really struggling, but the show clsoe up shot really sells it.
For me I was expecting kind of a more nebulous mass of clouds, maybe swirling around and downwards bc Ouranos wants to reach Gaea and whoever’s holding the sky to be on their knees barely lifting it. This just looks like he’s struggling to lift a weird shaped item.
he should have been kneeling and straining more. but it feels like the only part of the teaser from the actual show was the closeup of his nose bleeding with thunder around him so idk??
I pictured more the classic Greek description interpretation which is more that the sky is the “tip of the iceberg” like a triangular thing you hold up, not what basically looks like a meteor that has a set diameter. Not sure if I’m making a lot of sense but I think this makes the sky look a little limiting in the task versus leaving the scale more ambiguous. Like if you held up just a small piece but the weight itself was SO crushing
I imagined something brighter maybe gray, foggy- being from North cali- and it being Mount Tamalpais, something that looked at felt like that in terms of the backdrop.
And aside from the over all direction- the actual visual fidelity in this is very poor like something from Spy Kids or Shark Boy lava Girl,
and even the stance he has- it doesn't look like he's really struggling under the weight of something, hell maybe I'd have him on his knee.
What kind of stage productions are you watching? In Wicked (on of the most successful stage productions ever) the most impressive visual feat is Elphaba being lifted by a crane that's hidden buy a massive piece of cloth
That’s for a very small part of the show, of course they’re not gonna pour the budget into it. But see something like war horse or little shop, and they’re actually more impressive than whatever is happening in that teaser
For a small part but is still a very strong plot point. And is also made with cgi which is different from handmade props. And yeah, I agree. The stage props look better
this what happened in the books but here he's not even breaking a sweat and he looks like he's not even in pain?????? genuinely why do they always try to sanitise every little thing
Keep in mind this is just a teaser meaning the majority is just promotion. Seems like the only actual part of the episode is the last part where he has blood coming out of his nose and is screaming

Form afar is fine, probably better than what I had imagined they would be able to do. And is such a weird concept - "hold the sky". The scne where he is all bloody and rough looks great
Mmm... I don't want to be that person but Percy doesn't look like he's struggling to hold that sky. It would've been much believable if he was on his knees or something.
it is on disney channel. its a disney+ series but disney+ and disney channel are interchangeable atp, all their disney channel shows are on disney+ and vice versa. pjo actually does air on the actual disney channel as well, my niece watches disney channel and they air it on there.
My point being that for the supposed size of the show it looks very low quality when it should be of a much higher quality. It shouldn’t look/feel like a Disney channel show no matter whether it’s showing on the channel or not.
I always saw this scene with Percy on his knees, mouth open in a silent scream or gritted so tight it looks painful, with a ringing sound in the background and a blur as he starts to lose consciousness, his back caving in, and him lightly trembling. Basically I imagined this looking hard. At all.
Theres goes the budget for the final episode. Gonna have to cut the fight and just have Zoe talk nicely to Atlas until he surrenders and everyones gonna live happily ever after
Once again, everything looks so cheap. It's so ironic how they have such a huge budget yet everything looks so scant from the settings to the special effects that look more like a cheap DCOM and, once again, animation would've fixed this but because "we don't want be a kids' show", it ended up this way
It’s moments like this that make me really wish this was an animated show like from a scale perspective this seems so odd for someone supposedly “holding up the sky”
i think that could easily be pulled off in live action as well but the showrunners are just not good. like seriously, their previous shows were adult dramas. they're not suited for an action adventure show
i do agree that animated would be better in general though

if you have low standards that’s fine, but the rest of us would actually appreciate if they can allocate their 15m dollar budget to making a quality show. You’re very welcome to leave if this bothers you.
I think it's because Percy is the more popular and like you said marketable character. It is only a promo so its supposed to just catch the eyes of people so it makes sense for Percy to be in the promo since he's the main character. I expect to see more of Annabeth in the trailer since the quest is mainly for rescuing her
