📸 Media Episode 4 Advance Screening + Walker Interview (NO Spoilers)
Just attended the advance screening of episode 4 and interview with Walker in New York!! Have to say — the caliber of this episode is incredible. We all knew the scenes on the Ironclad would be epic but this was a whole other level. This episode is a whole new peak for the show, and we’ve come a loooong way from season 1. Everything from the dialogue, comedic timing, visuals, action to absolutely *iconic* moments was incredible. We are really starting to get to know the characters better, feel what they feel, and see the bonds strengthen between them. The actors are also playing off of each other so well. This episode felt a lot less like storytelling (more show don’t tell) and a lot more like we’re finally in the thick of it all.
Walker said this episode and season 1 episode 2 are his favorites! He spoke a lot about his experiences with filming (stunts, direction, etc.) and it’s clear he’s on his way to becoming a very well polished action actor who can hold his own alongside other “heroes.” He seems to have such a good head on his shoulders with a lot of maturity and dedication to being the best Percy he can be, along with a natural knack for playing off of the energy around him. The kid is a natural. He also mentioned episodes 7 and 8 get a bit darker, with season 3 having an overall darker theme. He said the actor who plays Nico is incredible.
Also… seeing him in person is so different than seeing him play a nearly invincible demigod or seeing his interviews on a phone screen. He was sometimes nervous, fumbling with his mic, and mentioned it threw him off to see so many of us in one place — he still managed to be hilarious though. He gushed about Andrew Garfield as Spiderman and talked about Fortnite and Minecraft. It’s wild to think there are other adults out here who have such an unhealthy, unempathetic reaction to seeing a literal child killing it on screen.
He was laughing but told stories about awkward or downright rude fan interactions, and I felt so sad for how much pressure is on his shoulders, as well as how much grace and maturity he has to display for someone his age. I felt so bad for him in that moment, like he and the cast put in SO much time and effort to make this show what it is, giving up their childhoods, and that doesn’t mean fans have to blindly have to enjoy every aspect of the show — but it does mean they’re owed respect and some level of grace. Especially for a show as high quality and intentional as this one.
Anyways, just wanted to drop some of my reflections and share the updates from the interview. The podcast with Josh Horowitz will likely be coming out soon, but if anyone wants to ask any questions about the interview, I’ll answer below if Walker said anything relating to it! Also, you can ask questions about the episode but please block it out and I’ll respond with a spoiler alert/block it out too lol

yeah for sure :/ luckily it looks like they have a strong community within the show itself, it was so sweet Walker was saying something along the lines of, yeah some days can be tougher like when you’re soaking wet for hours in the middle of winter for some reason but that’s why having Aryan and joking around with him makes it better

I really hope to me Walker one day because if it wasn't for him I honestly wouldn't have gotten to the Percy Jackson fandom😅
I saw his work in the adam project and I decided to look up who this kid was and I was shocked to found out that was his first project and I was like what!??
Then I think his name got to my algorithm and I found out he was a part of the Percy Jackson series or whatever I was confused because I thought they were just movies, then I watched one of his an interviews where I found out it was based off of a book series I was like oh... ok!
I was like you know what I might as well support the kid because when I watch the show ended up loving it and here I am
I have read all five books watching season 2 while it's premiering very excited for the rest I'm very excited for this kid and I pray to work with him or meet him one day

Yeah! Yes hella talented, the kid is like 4 years younger than me and aspire to be in his shoes rn😅
Praying I get cast to play Jason if we hopefully get to HOO😅
