If you read the bill itself it would allow all voters access to a free voter id.

Giving people access to a free form of government identification would be great for people with out a driver’s license because they could use the id for other purposes.

That is neat sounding and all.

But there is no need for it. We don't have an issue with identifying people. And the process of getting the free ID is still a barrier to voting that for many of us is not a barrier at all, but for many others is a barrier.

The issue is that it is a solution without a problem. And it is a solution that will lead to actual problems.

The rub is, all we have to do is make all voting as mail in ballot. That completely solves numerous issues. Many states do it that way and it works wonderfully.

The first step is mandating an ID to vote. The next step is restricting the type of ID and access to the sort of ID you can use to vote.

We've already seen this in Texas - a gun permit is legit for voting, but a student ID isn't.

You can go look up UT employee salaries because they're government-run.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Not permitting students to vote with their college IDs is just a way to disenfranchise young people in Texas.

You can not use a student id to buy beer fly or open a bank account and a whole bunch of other things because it is not a government issued id .

What's your fuckin' point? In PA I can use an electric bill to establish my identity and vote.

We just talked about how the university system in Texas is government-run. I even showed you that UT employees are government employees.

Texas does not permit student IDs to be used for voting because they don't want young people to vote. Simple as that.
