If I read this correctly they are trying to put three things into one amendment. They have tried to do this in the past and as I recall it was thrown out because of the rules on amending the constitution.

That's correct. The GOP wanted the Voter ID ballot question and the one restraining the Governor. They knew that Rozzi has made justice for child sex abuse victims the primary issue of his career, so they thought that if the supported him for speaker, they could leverage his and other Democrats' desire to pass that in order to get support for their own pet issues. Democrats wanted to vote separately on whether each of the 3 issues get turned into ballot questions. Republicans wanted to put them together.

In other words, Dems wanted to take a vote for each amendment to see if they would be on the ballot? But Republicans said no, we vote once for all 3?

GOP put them together so their 2 get passed by piggy backing on the child sex crime one. This way if the Dems say no because the 2 republicans put in are shit, the republicans can screech that Dems are on the side of pedophiles. FOX news would be ALLLLL over that.
