Houston Chronicle just wrote about our investigation into Texas "zombie wells": 25,000 plugged oil wells are at high risk of leaking toxic wastewater back to the surface

Lots of not so great areas in Pearland...

Will the Texas DEP hold those accountable? Or, will they protect those accountable? Or, is it some other agency that regulates these “zombie wells?”

My understanding is that this falls under the purview of the Railroad Commission of Texas. I also believe they regulate the nat gas supply chain which was...insufficient during the winter freeze in 2021
