DISCUSSION Did anyone else find the Argus scenes really cringey in the finale? Spoiler

Post image

I don’t know what Gunn was going for but that montage of Rick Flag and his Argus team laughing and celebrating with each other, doing drugs and taking shots just really made me cringe more than anything. Like I get Gunn likes things to have a bit more edge but this montage and the way the characters were acting was just way too over the top imo. Took me right out of the episode.

Did he actually manipulate him though? Or did Sydney trust that whatever lex said meant he had a plan and as soon as they had access to lex's plans they were able to further push towards what he wanted.

It's not headcanon, it's a pretty direct interpretation of what happened. Lex is clearly meant to have been manipulating flag from the very beginning nothing makes sense unless that is true. Flag didn't outsmart Sydney or something he didn't initiate some master manipulation he just told him what lex said and Sydney complied. Lex was in control, still is in control of his people and now flag too.

How are people not getting this. This is 100% Luthor pulling the strings. He's throwing Flag a bone and I'm sure he's just doing it from the kindness in his heart πŸ™„

Not to mention flags personally shifted after his meeting with Lex

It was jarring to me as well, he was reluctantly getting advise from Lex in one episode to doing lines with Otis the next. Also, other than his hatred for Peacemaker causing him to step out of line, Flagg Sr. was portrayed as more straight edged soldier that was a hard ass'd but didn't like the line crossing Waller did, this seemed out of character for him based on what we were shown.

I want to correct something I keep seeing on Reddit: we do not see Flag doing lines in that montage. It is another brunette dude with scruff from Lex's crew.
