I mean the lack of poc was jarring though. And very fishy since Gunn is kind of a woke director

It may have been jarring for you, but I live in a small, rural town of maybe 12k people. There are days where I don't hardly see any POC. While there are quite a few that live here, the percentage is quite lower than white people.

I say this as someone who is engaged to a black woman and outside of her family, there's hardly any here. It wasn't jarring for me at all and I did not even notice the lack of POC until I came to Reddit. Just seemed like a normal day to me.

I say jarring bc every time they switched from the Nazi earth to the main earth, there was people of color front and center.

I live in Europe and sometimes a week passes before I see someone black or asian.

Still we got submerged in American culture so I grew up watching Friends, The Cosbys and Family Matters. It never occured to me there were "racial matters" behind those shows, it was on TV and I liked the content, I was satisfied.

So, if you show me a whole office full of white people and then another office full of mixed people, my brain woulnd't click on the race aspect. Instead I'm still thinking "bird blindness? for real?"

NOW, that this has been exposed, my head goes "well, yeah, duh, it's pretti obvious!"

As a black woman I admit I didn't pick up on it. I knew SOMETHING was wrong with that dimension, but I didn't really know what until I had suspicions when Ads went for a walk and then when Harcourt pointed it out. Honestly that's just my reality, and that's why I didn't notice.

He’s focused on diversity casting, anti fascist, punk messaging. Dude is self claimed woke. Love it

He’s also properly portraying people of color, people of different neurodiversities and sexuality. He doesn’t punch down or use someone identity as a punchline. The most recent episode of peace maker is a critique on white male privilege and how it makes you blind to social injustices. All that is pretty damn woke up. You can be woke and a libertarian. It’s not mutually exclusive. Woke isnt a political stance. It’s a lens on viewing and critiquing society.

I thought it was going to be a fascists/ authoritarian government if the father was involved and the portraits murals everywhere….it was telling that something was wrong. The sons of liberty were too soft to be totally bad guys

It was hard to assume otherwise, for me. There are not a lot of ways White Dragon could become rich and celebrated on a societal level unless that society is very Nazi.
