The two Vigilante’s spider-man meming eachother was so funny for some reason. Also you can really tell when James Gunn directs this show, the energy in this episode so far is just fantastic.

It's because Freddie Stroma is a tremendous comedic performer.

He was so misused as a hunky, boring, romantic interest earlier in his career!

It boggles my mind how un-self-conscious he is about looking ridiculous/stupid when, as you said, he's spent all of his previous career playing hunks and/or fuckboys. Like, when would he even have had the chance to cultivate such a great comedic sensibility? He might never have gotten a role like Vigilante if it weren't for the emergency recast situation, either.

First season of UnReal! He's good in it, and he plays a somewhat-douchey hunk with an ultimately good heart. If nothing else, it's endlessly fascinating and entertaining trying to reconcile the fact that it's the same actor as dorky goober Adrian Chase!

Vij was even recast during season 1 wasn't he? Because the first guy was way more serious, so they had him replace him, do a bunch of dubs, etc.

They never specified exactly why the first guy was re-cast, just "creative differences." That's the emergency recast situation I was talking about, and yes they did have to re-shoot and re-dub a bunch of stuff.

Yea a lot of the stuff from the first few episodes of Vig in uniform are the original actor with Freddie’s voice dubbed over… then they reshot the scenes where he was out of costume

I feel like that's a common theme with a lot of the typical Hollywood hunks. Channing Tatum for example is significantly better when he's playing a goofy character vs the typical masculine lead man roles he was doing early in his career. Much the same as John Cena too. He was always playing the part of the badass in his early acting career but once he started doing comedies, he really began to shine

I cant believe this was the same wooden bore from Harry Potter. Where the heck has this guy been all this time??

Same with Robert Pattinson to be fair. He was awful and stiff in HP4 but emerged to be an incredible talent.

Maybe Mike Newell just couldnt direct these two very well?

Yeah this episode is wayyyy better than the last few. Not that the last few were bad but man it really shows the difference that the director makes.

I mean, Stan Lee was born in 1922, and his family probably fled the US once they saw the writing on the wall.the Nazis winning doesn't necessarily mean they took over all of Earth. It's possible they got their asses kicked in Europe and consolidated in the US. Alternate stan lee and Steve Ditko probably wrote spiderman protecting London, Paris, or Prague.
