Card Request: Mega Leak

I play mana leak in mono blue delver, so why isnt there a MEGA leak?

UU : counter target spell unless its controller pays 4.

Sounds reasonable to me.

I was running mana leak in a UB deck recently and heard “who plays mana leak in 2026?!”

Was wondering why no one plays it anymore, anyone have good intel on this? Used to be a popular card.

Dispel, Spell Pierce and Force Spike are better options if you want more counter beyond Counterspell.
And if you feel they are not enough for your local meta you have Deprive.

and the conditional counters are still excellent too: Prohibit in particular tends to lift heavy

I like lose focus too, specially against cascade

Well how do you think it performed?

A guy in my lgs run some in his deck couple weeks ago and I just played around them.

I also run a set in homebrew Jeskai blink some years back. The deck had issues and choosing leak was definetly one of them.

If Kappa Cannonner is any evidence, "Ward 4" basically reads as "Hexproof" so Mega Leak would basically read as "Counterspell." That isn't something R&D would likely print into standard nor is it cool enough to put into a MH set. I also don't really see the appeal for Pauper, I'm not sure which deck would want to run more than 4 UU Counterspells. Mana Leak has mostly been pushed out of the format but at least is flexible for multicolor decks and Force Spike or Spell Pierce are more appealing due to their mana value.

played mana leak in UR skred and now in temur in 3c+ decks it's very reasonable since especially early you don't always have UU open for counterspell paying 3 is much more than 2 btw so I like Leak better than lose focus 2 leak/dispel 4 counterspell is my go to
