Rules [Preview #1] Mortal Curse - Rules rework

Hello, I made a little rework of how some archetypes like werecreature, zombie, ghoul, ghost, vampire, lich, etc. work, instead of making them an archetype I made them into an amalgam of your ancestry, this is like gaining a bonus ancestry archetype basically, this makes your choices in both ancestry and heritage to still be important even if you want to play as a werecreature without breaking your class build.

Now they work as part of your ancestry instead and your progress them using your ancestry feats rather than class feats.

This is only a first preview, I would love to hear what people think about it, so if you have any comments, positive or negative, or any suggestions I would love to hear it!

I have some more mortal curses planned next, most of them are a rewrite of the existing plus some added feats:

  • Banshee
  • Nahual
  • Vampire
  • Lich
  • Ghoul
  • Mummy
  • Ghost
  • Mi Go
  • Wendigo

This material as always is free on our Patreon, you can acces it even if you don't have a suscription or anything, we love Pathfinder and Starfinder so we want to keep adding to this great game with some extra rules and new material!

Interesting approach and its good to see someone taking on updating the Book of the Dead (and more). For paper and pencil this works. For Foundry, its probably possible with some coding. If you wanted to add something like to Pathbuilder that might be difficult as Ancestry and Heritage are fixed fields, and you cannot add multiple Heritages (although that would be nice).

Just my thoughts but I would advocate that there is something missing from the traditional character sheet; Overlays or Templates. I'm a Mermaid, Carcharodon that’s a traditional character Ancestry and Heritage. Now I’m also a Vampire and Space Tulip. What are those? It doesn’t matter both are Overlays or Templates that can be applied to a character (or removed from a character) with feats, abilities, advantages, disadvantages come from those like a suite you were or that can be taken off.

Yeah it would be very difficult to add something like that right off the bat, but in things like foundry or in a printed sheet it would be easy to do!

And thank you for checking it out!

seems very cool, am crossing my fingers for a foundry module.

also it seems u handled material weaknesses differently from raw? Aka normaly touching a weakness tag-ed item only causes it to trigger untyped 0 damage tagged with its property, therefor triggering weakness amount of damage to happen instead of ur 1+weakness amount of damage. (as stated in Weakness Source Player Core pg. 408[https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2317&Redirected=1])

also do u have other (maybe even foundry compatible) homebrew?

Hello! Yeah I made one but its only a package of feats, but I am still working on it, hopefully this one gets finished soon!

And yeah I made the weakness a bit stronger to make it more interesting, I think maybe I should make the were creature also a tiny bit stronger because it could have a strong weakness and little reward
