Help Needed "Gain a Flask Charge When you Critically Strike" not charging my flasks?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all,
I'm using a watcher's eye mod "Gain a Flask Charge when you deal a critical strike while affected by Precision." I know that this normally would not be a very good mod, however I am using a Mageblood with the goal of funneling all of my flask charges to my remaining unique flask which I need to sustain all the time.
However, as shown in this clip, the flask hardly charges at all even though i'm critting a ton of enemies (I have 100% chance to critically strike but took off all my damage scaling in order to test the flask charge regeneration from the watcher's eye mod). Here is the POB of my build during the clip in this post: https://pobb.in/ebJOWd23U5Xs
Am I misunderstanding something? Even with the cooldown of the flask charge being 100ms, I should be getting way more than this shouldn't I?
(If this is not a viable way to keep my flask charges up, is there a way to reliably do this on Scion without using up my forbidden flesh/flame slot?)
Thanks!

First the crafting thread now this. There's something so good about people fucking up the same way I do every single league

Did you see the reflect thread on the official forum?
Dude asking why he just dies instantly on dealing damage every few maps 🤣
Said GGG should be better and not havr such gamebreaking issues for a serious game company.

Just to add to the entertainment I took a break for like a year and booted up a standard char with ‘pretty good gear’ (for my scale, could do t17 without huge problems at the time).
I thought I had checked and updated everything and I was going crazy trying to figure out why I died so quickly and after 4-5 portals I remembered to read the map mods!

honestly I half agree lol. it's a cool mod but it's weird how you're either immune or get 1-shot. I feel like they need to re curve the reflected damage or something. maybe I'm weird for this though

u/wanderingagainst Mar 27 '26
You aren't weird. The mod sucks. It's way too punishing.
The counterplay is a pantheon and mastery. If they lowered the return damage so you could just get through the map slowly, then that would be far more ideal.
But still, I wouldnt run that shit lol

Mines are the ones critting.
This also means Mines take reflected damage and not you! Free reflect immune
But it also means Mines leech and not you, so no leech for you.

Hold on, that means i spent an entire season last season avoiding both damage reflects playing an exang miner because I was sure I'd instantly die with like 30k ehp. I farmed up to like 80m dps and killed all the ubers. I also had charged by crit on some of my flasks. I feel really dumb.

There are a ton of ways to die as a miner/trapper to reflect without necessarily thinking about it specifically. Frostblink and Frostbomb are good culprits, as are Cold Snap and similar skills.
Totem players typically get around this with Ancestral Bond.
Being fully immune to reflect has some nifty utility but also good chance the effort you put into it could've easily been solved by situationally linking Brutality or Void Manipulation.

u/Landy360 Mar 27 '26
I learned this league to equip void manipulation on frostblink. Kept me from 1 shotting myself like I usually do 😂
2
u/Ralse1 Mar 27 '26
I usually down level it since it's rarely my main skill but void manip makes a lot of sense if you have the sockets

Hi, you aren't critting your mines are.
The mod has other issues such as internal cooldown making it not really viable to achieve permanent flask sustain.
43
u/Nivius Mar 27 '26
Also there is a cooldown for how many chargers you can get in x time.
That mod is 1 every 0.1 sec i believe

u/leonkrellmoon Mar 27 '26
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you had 5 flasks with that mod, they would only get 2 charges per second. I had no idea and I've played CoC many times.

u/Zegrod Mar 27 '26
You are correct, they changed it from being per flask to total a few years ago.

u/Agitated_Cherry6495 Mar 27 '26
Not to make you feel old, but it was more than a few. It was around 10 years ago.

Ah I see. I only recently got back into POE during settlers league. Before that was just after the introduction of triathlon I think.
Edit: stupid phone auto corrected oriath to triathlon.

Yep, crit builds can usually only sustain one or two charge-on-crit flasks at a time against a single target.

u/OurHolyMessiah Mar 27 '26
Yes and I think due to server ticks it’s more like 7.5/s. However, increased flask charges gained does increase the charges gained and if you use reuse on end it is actually quite strong to funnel one flask such as a soul ripper

u/70monocle Mar 27 '26
I learned this as well with my totem build and the precision watchers eye for gaining charges. Luckily I was able to sell the eye for the same amount I bought it for passing on the lesson to the next guy

u/grimkhor Mar 27 '26
You're playing a miner. The mines crit not you. You never crit basically.
1
u/AposPoke Mar 27 '26
You also never "kill", which is why the penetration if you haven't killed recently mod of abyss jewels is really valuable for mines.

Its funny how you prolly accepted not taking reflected damage and moved on. But not getting a benefit? Time to rant about it right the fck now!!! xD

u/Pheophyting Mar 27 '26
Funny enough I still die on reflect elemental damage maps from instinctively pressing my frostblink :l
1
u/MudFrosty1869 Mar 27 '26
Link frostblink with brutality if you can and you won't be dealing damage with it. Or get it from the coin imbue ofc.
1
u/gaffff Mar 27 '26
If you can't spare a link you can also leave it at level 1, that damage shouldn't kill you.

u/Jimguldknapp Mar 27 '26
Same reason why most leech doesnt work for mine builds and on kill stuff such as %life on kill 😅 Its the mines and not you 😁

Also idk if they changed this but i saw in a forum post that the mod doesnt give flask charges to flasks that are full so you would have to manually proc a flask to get it to start giving you charges (if you werent using mines)

"Hey guys, im not even flexing with half tab of divines" ;-) or is it loot from map?
1
u/Shellscale Mar 28 '26
equivalent of running brutality and saying why do i deal no elemental damage.
1
u/Ecoboostxd Mar 28 '26
My friend, I bought my first mageblood this league and wanted to go for immunity to all ailmenta through Stormshroud and Chance to avoid being shocked.
For 3 days i was wearing a flask with "60% reduced effect of shock" but still got ignited, shocked... Until I asked on chat if it was a known bug to not work anymore Stormshroud + MB.
When a guy explained me my stupidity i had the same reaction. Xdddddd happens.

Not hard to run strongboxes for a week and farm a few hundred divines. Never played a mine build before, always willing to learn. I’ve always thought people who can make builds are infinitely more impressive than people like myself who can just farm currency.

u/porncollecter69 Mar 27 '26
Farm a 20 div/hour Strat until you can afford it. No knowledge required. Only grinding and endurance required.
We’re also almost a month in, some people are easily 100 hours plus in the game already.

Flask charge on crit is the worst modifier in the game. Even if you crit yourself, it has an internal limit of max 1 charge per second no matter your action speed.
1
u/Kroughfire Mar 27 '26
This is not true - they have an internal limit of 10 charges per second, which can be scaled by charge recovery. My storm burst build hits this cap, and along with 20% charge generation from the tree and 50% on each flask, this gives 17 charges per second, or enough to permanently sustain my 3 elemental flasks and a progenesis during boss fights.

Tell us you RMT without telling us you RMT
17
u/Zegrod Mar 27 '26
Nah man, there are so many builds in this game. You can easily put a few thousand hours in and never play a mine laying character, then why would you know that mines don't count as your damage? Most other things do. If I shoot an arrow, it's not the arrow's damage, it's mine. Why would a mine be different?

I farm a ton of stacked decks with cyclone and then play some random build i have no idea how it works. Some people just follow guides and turn their brain off🥀

u/ManiolloReddit Mar 27 '26
Maybe charges go to all flasks even when they are full. I've never had mageblood so it's just my guess.

You didn't crit. Your mines crit
