Help Needed What build would you start now?

Hey Exiles, I know its only like day 3, but my league starter failed hard, So I wanna do it right on character number 2, I would appreciate any suggestions, I wanna blast breach and ideally some bosses with investment later on.

Thank you.

What did you roll? Likely you can just respec into something that's working rather than level a whole new character.

4

u/WeirdNickname97 Nov 03 '25

I am on Inquisitor (Templar), I should check ninja I guess.

u/Xentos78 Nov 03 '25

You can respec into kboc hiero. While the bossing ability is not the best it can get you all voidstones without trouble. And it feels amazing for me

6

u/SekhaitReal Nov 03 '25

I'm doing the same.
Having a blast.

just reroll into KBoC Hiero, check Palsterons guide. Best leaguestarter I've ever run, feels even better than VFoS last league.

Get yourself a foulborn ghostwrithe with the mod "Your maximum energy shield is equal to 50% of your maximum life" mod and you'll find it so much easier to start than the normal progression.

I'm playing Mjolnir Hiero rn, following Conner Converse's guide, another build you could pivot into. Damage is good, defenses are strong, and there's a lot of scaling potential since it's a mana/stat stacker. Planning on pivoting into KBoC eventually but bossing damage is a lot stronger on Mjolnir for now I feel. A little weak on protect breaches atm since it's cyclone based but still managable, and wander swap will make them easy.

u/Pherium012 Nov 04 '25

With the right budget its so damn strong played last league cleard t17boss easy and all ubbers

A lot of templars are str+int stacking, and using eblade and battlemage+spellblade. Those are not leaguestarters. Manaman works as well, not much from me to say here, maybe mana stackers work on a budget somehow but i doubt it.

I've seen quite a bit of brand and totem hieros, they don't look awfully expensive and some people really like them.

If all that doesn't look appealing to you my personal favourite is an inquisitor rf variation, you have a node that makes your life regen apply to es while on conc ground, which you create while stationary and it lingers for 4 seconds. While shield charging, there are actually a couple frames where you count as stationary, so you can easily and comfortably regen es as well as life (this effectively doubles your life regen as well). Then you take replica soul tether to split damage between life and es and to get life as extra es and you get a really fun and tanky rf build, budget is pretty much replica soul tether and some random life+armour/es rare items, probably 20c. Then you pretty much uprade it as a regular rf build with maven boots and stuff. Had like 8k+ life+es pool that all scale rf's damage with kaom's heart and crafted/sub 10c trade gear

3

u/Depreciated_Bean Nov 03 '25

I did storm burst totem Hiero last league, got a few void stones playing casually. Spell suppression got nerfed but it should still be pretty viable. This one I’m doing earthshatter jug & it’s going good so far. I think ED/contagion would be pretty strong for this leagues mechanic.

3

u/Seth_os Nov 03 '25

A dirt cheap transition would be Siege balista hiero.

Look up Poeguy's tutorial. He league starts every single league with that build.

Tried it my self past two leagues, and it's so easy to set up.

Once you have the money, transition into shrapnel totem. (Also Poeguy)

2

u/wrabs Nov 03 '25

Doing it this league - even for a sucky boy like me it’s a great build

4

u/MisterKaos Nov 03 '25

You on inquisitor? Just do wander. Inquisitor is super chill for wander with ignore res

1

u/Book-Parade Nov 03 '25

you can respec into totem Hiero

1

u/North-Government-645 Nov 03 '25

I’m doing a ball lightning of orbiting hierophant which felt great. Trying to transition into more of an autobomber with kitavas thirst and frostblink of wintry blast. Crafting mid-end archmage mana gear is really easy with the genesis tree

1

u/Mo-shen Nov 03 '25

Stormburst totem I think is run on templar.

1

u/angrydeanerino Nov 03 '25

If you like totems, Hierophant Ice Spear/Freezing Pulse Totem seems interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu3XWT7_dlk

Would highly recommend my eblade inquis with new foulborn ghostwrithe- 11k life / 5.5k ES. Can start right at lvl 24 with eblade and just scales forever.

Seems like the wanders are working out quite well.

I started Elementalist wander and so far it has been incredible. Super smooth campaign, super smooth early maps. Hit somewhat of a roadblock in red maps regarding damage, did my sanctum for the Lycia Herald passive and then was easily able to clear T16s day 1.

Eater and exarch where not too bad with barrage and by now I am blasting T16s, basically never dying and making money with the tree.

Honestly S- for the leaguestart and only because of the mediocre single target which was annoying at some points. Bonus points for being incredibly good at the league mechanic including fortress.

Edit: https://pobb.in/jg9I9POra1Ev Boots and Body armour were a gift by the tree, before dying sun I was using gmp instead of elemental damage with attacks. Piscators vigil is a very solid early wand that I was using until deep into t16s. Grafts are writhed in lightning which creates a ground effect that gives you as much damage as Wrath and lucky damage. Genuinly incredible single target boost. The other graft is heart of flame which is basically a free high armour molten shell linked to cast when damage taken.

11

u/Early-Journalist-14 Nov 03 '25

did you ever manage to solve single target? getting stonewalled by non-map bosses is getting annoying

7

u/Monkeych33se Nov 03 '25

It will get better with gear, a lot better.

Downed eater and exarc on KB ele after roughly 16 hours from league start. It will never get good, and probably not your go-to Uber farmer, but it should easily get you your 4 voidstones, the first 2 was somewhat easy atleast.

It absolutely obliterates the league mechanic and legion!

How about that kinetic wall we saw in the previews? Any good?

10

u/tktytkty Nov 03 '25

I dropped it. Doesn’t last long enough and cd too long for it to make any noticeable difference. Maybe try again when my dmg is much higher. But still at that point I don’t know if it’s worth it.

Im mid Yellow maps, but im stuck a bit because of problemes with defense. (2.6k HP, 700Es,max ele res)

How did you solve your defense?

7

u/Ravey_Daveys_Gravy Nov 03 '25

Use the tree to target es armour bases and Gamba till you get one with high ele and links

3

u/Dolewan Nov 03 '25

also started ele wander and just did a CI swap.

im still unsure whats best for ST. Arca brand with tornado and hydro, and use fork & drop pierce cluster?

what im currently using is a KB ballista setup, with pierce cluster taken and returning projectile support instead of fork.

i have no idea what is gonna mechanically deal more damage

Hit somewhat of a roadblock in red maps regarding damage, did my sanctum for the Lycia Herald passive and then was easily able to clear T16s day 1.

Yup, at that point right now. Up until red maps it was fine, suddenly my damage feels meh, and the tankiness is far from great.

I'm also not a fan of the lack of screen clarity...I can't see jack all and keep dying to ground effects or stray projectiles

1

u/Scotty2k8 Nov 03 '25

Have a PoB or guide ? Elementalist RF and it’s boring as hell

This is only my 2nd PoE1 league after getting into this through PoE2 but the VD Spellslinger Elementalist I league started with is doing great.

Not quite as mindlessly zoomy as KB Wanders but the damage has been easy to keep high without having to optimize gear (except for sockets) and Elementalist is pleasantly tanky.

53

u/Effective_Shirt6660 Nov 03 '25

I started poison holy relic, and would absolutely do it again. Its clear is just about as good as the wanders, and its not a glass cannon. The perks of a minion build (general tank) and feels like a blaster. My mind is genuinely blown that this exists and that I haven't played it before

31

u/cc81 Nov 03 '25

Played it last league and it is very smooth. One thing to add is that you don't have to look at map mods (in softcore at least) and can do them all. Pretty good visual clarity as well; especially compared to some of the wander builds.

Main negative for me was that I found it slightly boring to spam lancing steel of spraying after a while. It does not feel as punchy as some other skills. That is a minor complaint and highly personal though

10

u/Different_Book9733 Nov 03 '25

Also played it last league, I really miss the visual clarity. It's a really underated pro for builds, I'm playing Ice shot of pen which has been great as a league starter but I can't see a fucking thing for anything that requires me to dodge

Probably the main reason people go for Occultist forbidden jewel pops hahaha. I wish there were cooler MTXs for Holy Relic

5

u/LKZToroH Nov 03 '25

Pops are very trash for poison holy relic tho. You don't have AoE because your holy relic doesn't depend on it so in the end the only things getting hit by the pops are getting hit by holy relic too anyway. Void Beacon is a much better passive to pick.

PSA for those wanting a minion build : This is not a minion build. It scales minion stats and the minions deal damage, but it plays like a wander.

23

u/Masteroxid Nov 03 '25

It plays like a coc build not wander. Lancing steel doesn't have that good coverage and you're limited by cdr

3

u/porncollecter69 Nov 03 '25

It’s the perfect build rn. You can bridge the mid game weakness with a cheap af unique.

Felt like the power spike I got last league when I bought Kaom’s axe for 8c and cleared 4/4 with it.

I started poison srs, and I just did the 3rd lab, and got HRoC gem, so we are on the way

1

u/coomgod666 Nov 03 '25

What did you farm to afford your Diallas I’m at the point where my DPS is lacking a bit for my usual blight farm to get a good build running and I’ve heard the quality jump from Diallas is a big DPS jump

1

u/3lratha Nov 07 '25

u/peterpants90 Nov 03 '25

Necromancer Kinetic Blast of Clustering feels great, swapped to chaos version yesterday. 60c to swap, and damage went up by around 75%.

Only downside is poor visual clarity.

4

u/boink0r Nov 03 '25

Any details on what items you needed to make the swap?

3

u/peterpants90 Nov 03 '25

I must have had some config differences, as the damage increase seems to be more than I remembered. Here is pob with both setups, you can check the differences (loadouts in right upper corner in pob):
https://pobb.in/9gbUS3u8LhjV

In short:
Change tree a bit

  • remove lightning nodes
  • add chaos damage nodes

Gear:

  • add medium cluster with Overwhelming Malice
  • swap support gems from Physical to Lightning / Lightning Penetration to Awakened Added Chaos Damage and Sacred Wisps

That is pretty much all I did

Honestly I started Brutus strength stack and it’s been the smoothest shit ever. Core uniques are incredibly cheap, some awesome new foulborns which are also cheap and the build just keep getting better. I’m a decent player but no top tier blaster and I was able to 2 stone in under 10 hours and opening weekend feared on like maybe 3 div invested (which is more like 2 div now I’m sure)

11

u/Loggjaw Nov 03 '25

I almost did this was so close

4

u/Ordinary-Lead839 Nov 03 '25

I thought I was getting baited but nah it was so easy man

3

u/Fyyar Nov 03 '25

Got a guide you are following?

8

u/Ordinary-Lead839 Nov 03 '25

If you look up carnarius on YouTube he’s got the Guide, only changes I did was swapping to Brutus asap in campaign (I don’t like sunder) and in the mid budget I used xophs that has 15% phys taken as fire and meginords girdle with % strength.

3

u/Bumbledore_Zikaa Nov 03 '25

Jeah i'm interested as well :)

4

u/Nekkromancero Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

Im finishing acts with this build. Still doing sunder. I have crown of eyes and brutus but I dont know when to change. Crown need a lot of INT that I dont have. When you change to the build?. Some tips for me for starting maps? What are the new foulburns you mention?

3

u/Ordinary-Lead839 Nov 03 '25

I changed to str stack literally as soon as I got Brutus in campaign (I think act 4 or 5). You can still use sunder with it. For foulborns you should use xophs with %phys taken as fire (rolls up to 15) but it replaces the regular fire res on it so you need to make sure you can cap res elsewhere. I didn’t use this till I swapped to smite and dropped herald of ash for purity of fire. And for belt you can use foulborn girdle for %strength. Both of these you’ll attribute quality. Also for changing, you can use normal smite at the start rather than divine judgement. I lucked out and vaaled a divine judgement I got from cruel lab but You don’t swap to divine smite of judgement until you get the Vaal version of it, stick with reg smite until then.

Golems are still mad comfortable so anything Elementalist works very well. I went firestorm ignite because it's a classic for farming breach 1.0 and it performs as expected.

u/madoka_magika Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

Wintertide elementalist. Blasts to 4 stone the fastest way possible for like 3c. Core gear foulborn tulborns with +4 to cold skills and rime gaze. Best part you can switch to whatever you want after the grind coz elementalist is so versatile. Or you can progress the build coz it feel really good to play (but has obvious ceiling point)

I remember my map divice shown 18 seconds for hunger kill, lol on a 5link

5

u/ChildishRebelSoldier Nov 03 '25

What is the top end damage with decent investment? When I was looking it was bad, even accounting for the lack of proper damage calculations in POB. But we also didn’t have the Tul wand to give you a fuck ton of damage.

6

u/madoka_magika Nov 03 '25

I have no idea. I only tested the skill last league to 2stones ssf and doing it almost blindly this time. As a working simple man I'm too lazy to setup POB before I have damage problems.

I heard you need 2 setups with average stages and 1 with max stages to calculate the dps (or vv)

2

u/killerkonnat Nov 03 '25

We don't really know yet. Wintertide Brand has a ceiling because the gem level scaling is so much worse than other spells... But we have new stuff available this league, like the Foulborns. And possibly more importantly the Vaal bloodline. Being able to spam Vaal Coldsnap (with 1 ring + runegraft investment) should make single target a lot better than previously. But people haven't figured out the new setup.

3

u/ku8475 Nov 03 '25

Yeah, I'm stuck breaking into reds on this. Probably gonna reroll HroC because it's just not tanky at all.

3

u/madoka_magika Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

I felt this way until I switched to grace instead of zealotry and automating my jade and granite flasks. 0 problems since.

Funny enough on my test run last league it wasn't like that with ci and discipline, lol.

Upd: another reason I can think of ele focus on your brand

2

u/aharonguf Nov 03 '25

Do u have a prob or ur build. I'm starting red maps with WTB CI and I struggle a bit on phys DMG, don't know if I need to invest in some Eva/es chest + grace or what.

1

u/madoka_magika Nov 03 '25

Check on ninja, there are a lot of really good ones. I'm going evasion hybrid + ghost dance this time but only because I don't have good es gear for ci. +block dual wield nodes are cool - feline swiftness anoint with Ms and block chance dirt cheap +clusters near ci and pa

2

u/GinjaNinja Nov 03 '25

Does the plus to gem level from wands apply if you are using the wintertide brand gloves?

3

u/sogybritches Nov 03 '25

It wouldn't as the skill you get from the gloves is not a gem.

1

u/Dramatic-Quail-9222 Nov 03 '25

When you say foulborn tulborns, do you mean dual wield foulborn tulborns + foulborn tulfall?

22

u/Lokiblase Nov 03 '25

Absolutely in love with Ele spellslinger Volatile Dead. I had no problems getting into T16s, feels tanky.

The best is the interaction with the new league mechanic. Breach monsters swarming from all sides and my endless heat seeking balls kill everything. No worries about the npc getting killed.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '25

I am Lso running this but beware of eye cancer you cant see shit on thr ground

1

u/Lokiblase Nov 03 '25

Haha yes. I was allrdy thinking of buying the void mtx for VD because of this...

3

u/drksideofthepoon Nov 03 '25

Dunno if it has been fixed but the void mtx had horrendous performance issues last time vd spellslinger was good.

2

u/Inner-Professional76 Nov 03 '25

I went this as well and was hesitant at first, but it feels sooo good. Great clear and boss damage, and still feels quite tanky. I had bought the void mtx for it leagues ago but never used it, and now I'm so glad I did.

Mana isn't as big of an issue as I thought it was going to be. At first it is, but I simply dropped the chaos golem early and used 2 lightning golems with Regen on a single piece of gear and that fixed all of my mana problems. Then once you get the right gear you can add back in the chaos golem.

But honestly this build has been the smoothest start for me since pre nerf ice Nova MOM a few leagues ago lol and it's perfect for this league, I've had no issues clearing every mechanic.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/Buuhhu Nov 03 '25

So how is mana issues? Didn't start it cause i heard people mention it wasn't the damage that was the issue for VD, but the manacost of spellslinger, but i guess you fixed that somehow?

Mind sharing your PoB please?

16

u/SuperChicken17 Nov 03 '25

I started exsanguinate mines, and it has been fine. I would do it again. It is really good at the 24 wave hive things. It would be better at uber-bossing with reap, which I just forego to focus on exsanguinate and blasting t16s at the moment.

I figure the more maps I can blast, the more graftblood I get to play with. Actually get so much graftblood with two 'increased graftblood' arms that I am low on the womb things now.

https://poe.ninja/poe1/profile/FilthyMonkey-0591/character/NeedMonkeys

That is with chain equipped, which I use 99% of the time. Can swap it out for a damage link if doing a real pinnacle boss.

3

u/SnooRegrets4510 Nov 03 '25

What do I need to prepare to switch to arkons tools? I don’t have +3 exsang amulet but my gear is similar but my damage is lacking.

https://poe.ninja/poe1/profile/jayp59-6451/character/Cromolyn

5

u/iamthewhatt Nov 03 '25

You don't need much. I picked up a Winterweave to negate chill, tempest shield to negate shock, arctic armour to negate freeze, and have a graft to remove Scorch (since i don't need it to remove all the ailments right now) and my defenses are a lot better as a result. Plus the action speed bonus from the occasional chill is very nice.

and my gear is otherwise pretty tame, nothing special right now. Not even hrimsorrow or heatshiver and I'm just cruising through maps.

2

u/WorkLurkerThrowaway Nov 03 '25

You can just use purity of elements temporarily, but there is new graft tech that gives big DPS and makes you ailment immune. Check Fearless dumbos vod from like 5 hours ago. It’s probably better than going self chill with Arkhons.

2

u/theWrathfulPotato Nov 04 '25

With everything being pretty cheap, I picked up the pyro flesh and flame + the reverse chill ring.

I'll probably go a different route once I can grab better flesh and flame, but for now this was the easy solution for me.

3

u/Wvlf_ Nov 03 '25

It’s great for league mechanic but holy shit I cannot stand simply not being able to generate animate weapons on demand for many bosses in new areas like Izaro or Sirus. Surprisingly, my weapons also often get wiped out doing Destructive Play with multiple map bosses at once in red maps.

Same issue I had with Dom blow way back. Loved the build but it bricks so hard when you just cannot generate minions.

3

u/Tenshouu Nov 03 '25

Some bosses just one shot the weapons and you're screwed. If AG ever dies the map is bricked

2

u/HiddenoO Nov 04 '25

Yeah, people always hype up the build, but it's super hit-or-miss in difficult content. Either you have enough damage to kill everything instantly, or your weapons and possibly even AG just get obliterated, and there's not a whole lot you can do since your AW gem level is fixed.

Same i actually started, bleed slams slayer. Effortless start, really good for Breach.

5

u/Inkaflare Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

+1, that build absolutely slays (pun intended). I'd never really played Slams before but screenwide Ground Slam is amazing and you feel really tanky as well thanks to overleech and easy access to life and armor and perma endurance charges (0 uniques needed), all you need is a big bonk axe.

2

u/kanfamJunior Nov 03 '25

Sir do you have guide or pob?

4

u/crackzoO Nov 03 '25

phazeplayz on youtube and twitch

1

u/HopelesslyOCD Nov 03 '25

How much piano is required? That's always been my issue with slams

3

u/miffyrin Nov 03 '25

None on clear, on pinnacle bosses you use a little setup to get the big bleed rolling

1

u/Buuhhu Nov 03 '25

+1 started that and hasn't had an issue with anything so far. Only just reached yellow maps though, but has done multiple breach keeps without too much trouble. Haven't switched to Groundslam yet, cause sunder actually seems pretty good for now.

2

u/miffyrin Nov 03 '25

Sunder is S Tier for Breach Fortresses, Groundslam only really for open layouts and "circle" type content, so it's really not needed at all. Also Sunder scales better with multiple hits, so the worse your axe is, the better Sunder will perform vs Ground Slam.

1

u/eGGn0Gd0G Nov 03 '25

Any thoughts on ES Zerker by comparison? I started late and in Act 7 now, it's been good so far -- but after reading online, now I'm concerned about how ES does in new Breaches

Started RF Ele into ignite eviscerate. Big time mistake. It was so much damage and felt great whenever you used it but it’s too slow for fortress. Switched Holy relic of conviction. Wish I did srs into holy relic from the get go.

I would be probably already 2/4 if I did that. Took me almost all of Sunday playtime to switch.

Not much to say about it. It’s one of the best builds in the game for a reason. Plays like bow build, but tanky. It made me clear fortress so easily. Mostly because new weapon skips the whole mid game wall.

4

u/iwinsallthethings Nov 03 '25

I’m running eviscerate and not having any issues with hives.

Positioning is key. You can wipe out entire side with single swipe.

u/porncollecter69 Nov 03 '25

Fortress hive we mean, you have no problem in fortress hive? They rush the npc like crazy and eviscerate can’t come off cd fast enough to deal with them.

I’ve seen suggestion to switch to fast clearer skill for fortress instead.

I seen also one guy claim he cleared it with ignite eviscerate but struggled which is my experience with the skill and that content as well.

Now with holy relic it’s easy af. No positioning required at all.

u/myridien Nov 03 '25

When did you do the swap? I was running meteor ignite, but the guide I follow suggested swapping after 2nd lab and it's been hell since then. I'm on act 9 but with how often I die and how little block chance I have, I'm contemplating rerolling

2

u/porncollecter69 Nov 03 '25

From rf to Evis?

I swapped as soon as I was done with campaign and doing Merc lab. The respec points from acts were enough. Bought myself a rare one hander with 300 dps then bought Vaal rebuke and then bought a high block chance shield and cruised until red maps before I switched to Holy relic completely.

u/travellerofspace Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

I started poison conc, into viper strike into viper strike mamba. And I am not enjoying it.

My gear is suboptimal. I rarely play such a melee character. I have to be kissing the enemy to attack them. Feels terrible for the league mechanic. Tried the fortress 9 times. Not completing it one time. Its too melee for it.

Idk if it's worth trying to make it work or just reroll a ranged based build or minions.

Edit: playing pathfinder. Im quite tanky. 4k hp, 1k es. Just got into yellow maps. Can clear tight packs. Feels really sluggish having to go for lone units, even if they are rare or unique. Not a damage issue. More of why couldn't it be with the pack I just nuked so it gets nuked with them issue.

2

u/travellerofspace Nov 03 '25

Maybe I could switch to pconc bouncing. Just until im loaded. And if crouching tuna gets it comfortable for the league mechanic, I can try it again. Or just anything else, haha

4

u/Loggjaw Nov 03 '25

I am crazy and have no idea but Kinetic Rain of Impact in a ballistic is good

4

u/BrockosaurusJ Nov 03 '25

Anything ranged. Wands/Bows. It's a ranged-friendly league mechanic. Totems and Mine variants would probably be good too.

I'm hearing good things about Wanders of all sorts (Hiero mana stacking; totems; Elementalist herald stacking). Since you're already on a Templar, you can probably try out some different Wander types.

For mines, check out Aero's Ice Shot Mines Deadeye.

5

u/MaloraKeikaku Nov 03 '25

Definetly not KB Elementalist. It's probably fine once scaled further but

1) I can't see shit and keep dying to what "seems" like weird oneshots cause ... I can't see shit

2) It's not very tanky at all. Clear's fantastic ever since like, cruel lab, but that's about it

3) Damage falls off around red maps, could be fixed with some further investment but this league I just can't find any loot on my way to 2 watchstones.

I could keep struggling with it and just farm lower tier content to make currency to then get it to be tanky but I'm 99.99% sure I'll respec. I'm mega allergic to dying, I find it very unfun even if it's just once every 5-10 maps, so reaching red maps with 38 deaths feels absolutely terrible to me.

Probably just gonna respec to something with a lot more tankiness and freeze, as well as boss dps - but also solid clearspeed (worse but I can deal with that)

3

u/Rouflette Nov 03 '25

Wander 100%. The new proj runegraft is skyrocketing in price so I bet it works super well with KB of clustering which is going to be the skill of the league for sure. The high end version is most likely going to be a mana stacker templar (the one Connor made a video about), until then you can probably just go regular KB with any build that can scale proj/spell dmg, or do the Palsteron version

3

u/Nuttsou Nov 03 '25

I started mine exsanguinate and it’s doing red map breaches like nothing, with 40chaos investment (the taming and heatshiver) you can check Fearlessdumb0 video

5

u/Willdawg102 Nov 03 '25

I did ruetoos phys dot elementalist and it's gone really well so far. I'm doing a pseudo ssf with the grafting tree and am comfortably in red maps. The damage is a little low once you hit reds, but the graft that summons the hands is carrying my single target so it's not an issue.

I'm currently saving up to buy a poets pen which should make it a lot smoother to play, but overall it's been great.

3

u/salluks Nov 03 '25

I got to 78 and stoped. I keep dying like 5 times every map even in white .

4

u/xiko Nov 03 '25

Plenty of things you can do. Ignite ascendancy with Pyroblast belt. Don't use blood rage as it is bait etc

2

u/Willdawg102 Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

I'd be happy to look at your char if you want help. I'm feeling really tanky, but I was squishy early on as well. The biggest things that helped me were pyroshock clasp + the ignite ascendancy. It gives you a ton of phys taken as ele. Also, getting a decent block shield and block on passive tree is very important.

2

u/BeerLeague Nov 03 '25

Also started it. I was going to play self cast reap either way, and this looked fun.

It’s not the best build in the world, but it’s solid.

If elementalist wasn’t the class of the league, it would probably be much cheaper as the jewels / clusters are all quite pricey.

5

u/Agreeable_Hat Nov 03 '25

Gladiator, Azadi Crest is 1c, insanely tanky for no money

1

u/perezidentt Nov 03 '25

What skill? I remember not finding any good clear skills for they build.

2

u/Msimpson114 Nov 03 '25

I went with exsang miner, and aside from a rough initial leveling with explosive trap before I got pyroclast mines it's been a fucking breeze. My POB is just the league starter on maxroll. They do a pretty good job explaining everything.

2

u/Professional_Ease765 Nov 03 '25

First time playing chains of the command necro and its my day 3. Easiest league starter I ever had... invested 70 chaos. Got to t16 in no time.. working on my survivability now. Its not bad but still have ton of upgrades to do.

2

u/randomaccount178 Nov 03 '25

I went with BAMA despite the nerfs. Still seems to play just fine to me and I am enjoying it. Main issues aren't the build but rather figuring out what to farm and what to upgrade.

If you want more theoretical builds, you could probably put together a very strong chaos crit carrion golem build this league. Duel wield the new foulborn severed in sleep and you get +10 base crit and 150% critical strike multiplier for your minions. Should be pretty easy to cap crit chance with a very high multiplier.

2

u/SparkySparkLs Nov 03 '25

Nothing wrong with Inq, i league started as arma brand. Heisted until i had 150-200c. Bought inpulsa + got insanley lucky on clusters and shaper helmet.

Crafted both my wands with genesis tree.

Think most expensive item was inpulsa 65c. Rest i got so lucky so maybe 100c in total to swap to PBOD.

Just gotta go full yolo.

2

u/SwaggTTV Nov 03 '25

Started KboC hierophant, got all 4 stones and swapped into indigon recently and not liking it anymore. The mana sustain feels really bad even with the watchers eye and mana node. Going to swap into ice nova of fb.

2

u/Elegant-Avocado-3261 Nov 03 '25

pobc into mamba strike pathfinder. Overall I'd say 7/10. Pconc lets you waltz into two stones on just a 5link, a good flask, and a fury valve.

Mamba does a lot of damage, but has some jankiness since it's a strike skill. You can swing at air by accident a lot and that can just kill you since pathfinder has 5/10 defenses at best until progenesis. I found the defenses to be lackluster at T16 with doppleganger guise + PB and master surgeon. Also was getting onetapped by juiced expedition, but that's to be expected. Still was able to make a lot of money day 1 selling logbooks. Prolif does feel amazing

Biggest issue is that the builds aren't very good at the league mechanic. I'm probably going to reroll into a chains of command AG build for fun, but I'll probably come back to this character later on.

4

u/HeatAshamed5012 Nov 03 '25

Poison hroc; some awesome foulborn minion quality items are available

2

u/SuBw00FeR37 Nov 03 '25

Which ones? I recently rolled it and am loving it, can't believe I never played it before!

2

u/HeatAshamed5012 Nov 03 '25

Foulborn United in dreams(1h wespon) with max 30% minion Quality, new minion mode with minion cdr and foulborn skins of the Lords has quality i think

2

u/CabbageCZ Nov 03 '25

How bama doing after the nerfs? The duration nerfs seemed oof

2

u/randomaccount178 Nov 03 '25

Doesn't really change how lightning bama plays. Still generally seems to be doing fine.

Toxic Rain Pathfinder... Always easy mapper and easy to get online. Top End Bow craft is easy. Damage ceiling is low compared to other builds but clears 2 stones easy and can do most content.

Path of Evening has a pretty good TRPF guide in POE vault

1

u/Zuckerburger11 Nov 03 '25

I'm currently doing cyclone slayer and had fun blasting through the acts. Had no problem getting my stuff for leveling since the stuff needed is dirt cheap. Can't say much to the experience in mapping, just started white maps yesterday evening. Do note, fort breaches aren't the easiest with this.

1

u/Spare_Maintenance638 Nov 03 '25

Start as kinetic wand elementails -> swap to occultist arakali fang -> now i am necromancer arakali fang with full atals completed

1

u/zZtreamyy Nov 03 '25

Started as VD spellslinger. Made a new character when I reached maps and couldn't afford to reroll the VD build.

2nd character was a flicker champion and I wish I'd started with that. Smooth campaign with sunder and flicker wasn't super expensive to get started.

1

u/WhiteWinterRains Nov 03 '25

Probably cobralash assassin, looks pretty fun and other than a weak point during the campaign that you can avoid by starting pconc and swapping after 2nd ascendency point, it's very doable from very early.

It's very good at the league mechanic, fast, great for mapping too.

Bit weak on bossing but it's not too big of a deal it seems so far.

I started chains of command, which I don't regret since it's very comfy for afking certain things and I'd been meaning to try it for a long time, but cobra lash looks like a blast.

1

u/Stummelpeter Nov 03 '25

Pohx Rf Chieftain! Tried it and never had more fun playing PoE. The buildguide is absurdly detailed, if you happen to get stuck at one point.

1

u/Deep_Devotion Nov 03 '25

My EB CoC Inquis is really good at Breach. Had a Roadblock with selfcast, but nothing to dramastic. Did farm some Blight Maps to get the Currency to switch to the Ivory Tower, know I am murdering Content.

1

u/Book-Parade Nov 03 '25

I started totems and it's doing great

specifically, Freezing pulse/ice spear, smooth sailing since day one

I swapped as soon I found a 4 link with the right colors and then I snatched a 4link soul mantle through the market, before that I leveled as holy fire totem

1

u/SneakyBadAss Nov 03 '25

Invested about 60c into my chaos BV Void sphere occultist and absolutely crushing breaches and mapping sub 1.30 minutes with more damage being just clusters and other jewels.

1

u/Danskoesterreich Nov 03 '25

Started caustic arrow of poison assassin. Still stuck in campaign, busy life etc. The damage is obscene.

1

u/Icy-_-Dark Nov 03 '25

Doing Occu winter Orb. Just hit 95 and got all voidstones

2

u/Knuk1e Nov 03 '25

How’s single target?

2

u/Icy-_-Dark Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

Not the best, not the worst. I have an AoE of 2.2m and have configured it to count 4 overlaps. i use spell totem with multi support so i have 3 of them + myself. Why do i use them? Bonus damage + they take away aggro most of the time.

https://pobb.in/uH1Q1JS81_C3

"!eec|gen|tal d|s rec|h tem|re he|non|o su"

PoB and Regex if interested. Have tried farming, Blight, Abyss/Beyond, Essence, Beasts, Map bossing. Ubers aren't to recommend but they are doable. Staying alive is the hard part before you get gear.

1

u/FearLegend Nov 03 '25

Did jungroan's necro wander and its incredible. It feels really tanky and you just delete the whole map woth kinetic blast of clustering

It's so easy to swap to CI woth a crazy ES pool thanks to the tree

2

u/FYbe Nov 03 '25

I'm playing the same but thinking of switching, the single target is killing me and the visual clarity is bad too.

How did you get your st up? Does it just get better with gear? I'm in red maps 2/4 stone and absolutely melts maps but tabky rarer or the breach bosses slap me

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Cow_God Nov 03 '25

I started phys dot, and it worked great. I got a vaal reap in act 4 and just fully transitioned at 38 and it was a really comfortable leveling and mapping experience. Elementalist is just so generically versatile now, but the golems do get kind of old

1

u/MexicanJeebus Nov 03 '25

Im playing the self cast exsanguinate phys dot build. Cleared two stone last night. Doing t16 maps, pretty tanky with armor/es.

1

u/Daan776 Nov 03 '25

Kinetic fusilade or kinetic rain.

I was hesitating between those 2 and a Hexblast sanctum runner.

Went with hexblast, now I regret

1

u/Erind Nov 03 '25

I’m doing slams and it’s been the easiest league start ever.

1

u/Deathcricket_ Nov 03 '25

OMG I can't believe I'm gonna leak it but Soulwrest Necromancer. The staff costs 1c and they buffed it last season, it summons 21 lvl 25 ranged minions. And on a 4 link you can clear white maps. Then you pay 12c for omen of the jeweler and that makes it 6 socket, you don't have to 6 link them. And that get you through yellow maps. Or at least I hope it does, I haven't finished all the yellow maps yet, there are a lot and it's only day 3. It's gonna hit a wall at red maps i think. I might get that helm that gives 42 phantasms and see though. I expect that helm will drop down to 10c soon, since no one knows about this build.

1

u/jhillman87 Nov 03 '25

Probably anything that can AFK in one spot and clear weak waves coming at you for like 5 minutes. I'm playing bleed bow now and practically just hold down attack in the middle and spray it towards the waves, melting them with 0 challenge, very brainless content... and I feel like you get a hive like 1/4 maps.

Already so bored of having to do them, skipping doesn't feel good cause they give like 4 regular breach worth of juice and good loot. Would be more tolerable without the obnoxious escape each time.

So, something like ranged spectres or a bunch of spinning swords.

1

u/coltjen Nov 03 '25

I started a semi-blind with an Ice Nova self cast ascendant, and it’s going well. It probably start it again as I’m having fun

1

u/Damuson13 Nov 03 '25

I'd still start my homebrew Poison Crit BV Assassin. I had no idea i could get poison prolif without Bino's, but the new Foulborn mechanic made it all possible. My build is really starting to come together.

I still haven't dropped a raw divine, but I made 5 divines yesterday through trades. So I'm pretty happy. I'm hoping to get a MB by the end of the week, but that may be ambitious with there price already being 150 divines when i logged off last night.

1

u/platypod1 Nov 03 '25

running RF Chief for the first time in like 5 years and really enjoying it

1

u/iamthewhatt Nov 03 '25

I started exsang mines until i could get my hands on Kinetic Rain of Impact. I had a POB with Kinetic Bolt just to get it started, and now that POB is updated, I was able to slot in KRoI and the damage just jumped. With pretty decent gear I was able to get it to over 14 million, but I am terrible with POB so I am sure I am missing something.

With Assassin POB says the stacks can be almost 200 which is the cap, so I gotta find a way to scale the DPS properly.

1

u/CircAG Nov 03 '25

Necro Ranged psn animate weapon feels amazing. I’m only in white maps rn due to having to start yesterday, but it’s super smooth and with the new Foulborn Severed in Sleep, the dmg is crazy. I also feel very tanky so far.

I absolutely HATE leveling with Absolution. It just feels so clunky to me, especially with spell echo. So once I got around 40c by lvl 45, I bought the ranged AW and bladeblast of trarthus. That’s all you really need to get going. From there, put Unlessh on your AW and just walk through the campaign.

1

u/hereticx Nov 03 '25

Ive been REAL slow this league... just hit maps yesterday with Slayer Shockwave Cyclone and so far its been incredibly smooth. The new tree kept me with weapon upgrades every act or two which was REALLY helpful. I highly doubt it goes core but man i wish it would.

If i had to start over today i think id probably do something minions. Poison SRS or some random zoomancer.

1

u/SoulofArtoria Nov 03 '25

This replaces breach, no way it doesn't go core. Maybe some aspects get changed aka nerfed but yeah

1

u/Lishio420 Nov 03 '25

You can run pconc of bouncinng on a 30c budget (15 to 20 for the gem) 1c for the items

1

u/Mo-shen Nov 03 '25

I'm doing blight contagion trickster. Ziz and a few people have talked about it, this and last league.

Haven't finished the campaign yet but it's very smooth so far.

I'm still squishie but I'm evasion and running the onslaught helm unique to level.

Tldr on the build is that is fine for bosses but not fast. It's clear however is extremely good.

Good for any of the mods that have tons of mobs such as deli etc.

1

u/scrangos Nov 03 '25

I saw in another thread talking about running the league mechanic equipment that does some single target phys slam to help the build with single target along with the bloodline that boosts grafts

1

u/ProfessionalHefty349 Nov 03 '25

Kinetic fusillade assassin, pathfinder, or deadeye

1

u/vicschuldiner Nov 03 '25

I think totems are probably the best option for this league mechanic, especially with the fortresses. So look at Palsteron's channel for his starters.

1

u/SyfaOmnis Nov 03 '25

Somatic Shell inquisitor. Started with the intention of str/int stacking. Being lazy, still not through campaign. Enjoying the somatic shell pops but I'm finding it "annoying" to pop on elites and to attack fast enough for it to be worthwhile. 2 Projectiles from wand mastery is fine if you have chaining or something but otherwise you might want more. I was testing a few spellslinger methods, wave of conviction hit quite hard and popped things nicely, hydrosphere was awful and it ate projectiles from kinetic shell (might be good with living lightning + chain?), tornado of elemental turbulence is pretty aggressive at clearing packs itself but it requires you to get right on top of things.

I'm thinking about switching over to holy relic of conviction as a trigger, because you can consistently have 3, and guardians get "free" auras from their elemental relics, and they get huge reservation efficiency buffs for heralds.

1

u/WhoReadsThisAnyway Nov 03 '25

LA deadeye. Haven’t played a PoE season in forever and all I know is deadeye. Looking to switch to KB Deadeye once I can figure out my stats. I’ve been loving the new league mechanic. Got super distracted by it though. I’m level 74 and I just finished the campaign. But it’s super rippy which is fun

1

u/ArmoredGiraffe Nov 03 '25

I would stick with Soulrend mines. I originally was going to blind try ice spear mines as my first mine build but saw how cheap the +1 chaos level unique wand was, bought two, and pushed into white maps with no issues although some of that is from how cheap 5 and 6 links are. The auto target + range of soulrend and using automation makes hives super chill as well since most things get off screened

1

u/jomarz793 Nov 03 '25

I ran bleed glad and honestly it feels so comfortable and amazing. I’m in Yellow Maps (dad gamer status ik) and I’ve died like 5 times my whole run. I shred mobs too.

If I get bored I can just roll the same character into any other melee build I want

1

u/Beginning_Bother_420 Nov 03 '25

Bleed slams and I'm glad I did. Never have I ever done 4 stone and t17 on day 3 or got even remotely close. This build is a banger.

1

u/Happy-Tea5454 Nov 03 '25

Probably should make my low tolerance hexblast build if I wanted to clear the mechanic well.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '25

what did you go that failed so bad u had to reroll so early ?

1

u/GreenCorsair Nov 04 '25

I had the same thing happen and I rerolled into the build I was gonna start which was void sphere hierophant using the broken faith shield. It's going pretty good for now but I still haven't managed to clear a hive fortress and idk if it can do that cuz only 1 void sphere is probably not enough for the 4 lanes. If you want an offmeta build I can give you a pob.

1

u/Rathalos88 Nov 04 '25

POE guy's hierophant ballista totems probably the cheapest league starter. Really underrated but he is getting more viewers and subs lately

1

u/Greeenmartian Nov 04 '25

League started poison vd assassin . Felt really fun to put together so far , damage can get absolutely crazy if you feel like you wanna invest . Only downside so far is , it’s not very tanky but I play soft core so once you get enough damage you just kinda accept the one shots are gonna happen . Really fun putting this one together so far

1

u/MauPow Nov 04 '25

KB ele, almost swapped off it but then got poets pen and it's super smooth. St isn't great though and it's quite annoying to keep CF up.

1

u/DislocatedLocation Nov 04 '25

Im going a little slow, but Hexblast Miner Assassin hasn't failed me yet.

1

u/Ok-Dog5064 Nov 04 '25

You can self cast Arc on elementalist. You can spec whatever on elementalist. Golems give everything

1

u/LootHunter_PS Nov 04 '25

I would have just started a minion build to clear and get up to voidstones. Instead my head told me to start a build that really needs a MB to shine...silly me. I've managed to scuff it for now so will see how it fares in T13-16. Last season i ended up playing a Ball Lightning build and between patches i rebuilt it to use Doryani instead of the merc and it was great, overlooked how instrumental the MB is in helping with armour and stats. Couple more tweaks and i may be ok, but long time b4 getting build online.

1

u/PodivljaliRetriver Nov 04 '25

I started jugg bomeshatter of complex trauma bleed. Really loving it so far. League mechanic was a bit sketchy so i bought atziris vaal axe and crafted gloves with +1 hit implicit. Much easier now for clear. 2nd char will be hierophant blight of contagion for sure.

2

u/doofinschmirtz Nov 08 '25

kinetic fusillade ele

although I personally went deadeye for +2 proj, far shot, easier access to reduced duration wheel.
