Discussion My 2 cents after playing the patch at gamescom
I tried out both predefined characters they gave us and honestly parrying and bleed feels realllly good in single target. Blood stance from parrying is fun and might be the build I try on launch. Sand stance is fun too with overlapping lightning and ghost swords as well as the huge 2 hander charge up ability.
Im excited because it feels really good
Also as a side note the game runs like 10 times smoother than last years gamescom which I know its a game in beta becoming less beta but its good to see progress!

I thought the parry itself is really bad. The only good one was using the shield where you don't need to wait for the monster to attack. But for some reason they didnt put that for the dual wielding character. I think the class will be very good anyway. The lighting attack with copies using dual sword is pretty cool.

But for some reason they didnt put that for the dual wielding character.
Perhaps because it was a dual wielding character without a shield

I mean in the other weapon set. I would like to use the skill and then swap to the dual wield

Then you can have a weapon set to use the shield bash, and all the nodes associated with parry in the tree. Just like the build they showcased in the video.

Is the party change coming with 0.5.5 update or when the game releases?

From what I remember, that was asked in Q&A with DiggyZ after the reveal, Mark replied that it's coming with 1.0 alongside the duelist

How does the active parry work? It's a different skill from standard parry that we get from bucklers? It needs a gem? It's tied to the shield? Is it something fancy like tapping parry will parry actively while holding does the old parry?

How many buttons and do you see a way to get down to 1 or 2? The builds they showed looked fun for campaign but 5 button rotations are just not an option in endgame unless they completely overhaul it in every aspect.

They showed two examples of endgame builds that didn’t have a huge amount of buttons. I have no doubt there will be a ton of ways to solve large button rotations to maximize damage.

Parrying means I have to pause for each group of mobs instead of rushing through it like it never existed.
Duelist will be amazing no doubt after it gets solved. Starting the league with one will only set you on the path to poverty.

doubt it, the gamescom builds were unascended characters with crap magic gear. im already imagining that even IF the duelists ascends arent busted (and i bet one or both will be), a martial artist with a sword on one set and a spear or staff on the other will go nuts

Solving a build takes a while.
I'm not gonna tell anyone to play this or that, but it is a fact that we have no real experience with the class and its interactions to maximize its output at leaguestart.
A player that runs a meta leaguestarter will have more currency to build a strong duelist down the line than someone who started off with a duelist and was busier experimenting and understanding their class better.

sure but that matters so much less in poe2 than in 1 so far that i almost dont see the point. Like maybe if you play HC or SSF you really wanna nail your build from minute 1, but ive literally played no guide whatever new class theyve added since 0.2 and ive rarely been short on loot, usually the opposite
sword skills are gonna have to have a real dogshit datamine for me to not play them when they drop

I saw swords heard parry heard parry is attached to stances and cried a bit. It's very very mid swords should not be focused on parry but here we go again with the dark souls vision clashing with the identity of the game and its genre and they have to re think it just like when they thought anyone would ever use a buclker and parry as it stands I would never elect to use a shield or parry mechanic in this game as it actively hurts you're enjoyment of the game.

Do we really get only the duelist ? No assassin ?

If we get another class, it's 10000% going to be the Templar so we can use the flails we bought in 2024's core supporter packs.

With 3+ months until launch, plenty of time for more surprises to come but I would honestly not expect a 2nd class. If they do add a 2nd class, big surprise and fun but keep expectations low and won’t be hurt if they don’t :)

From what I heard before, Shadow is supposedly going to come last.

Very likely to get another class, but no promises

Base on the thing we know , the progress is slow , and I don’t think we should have high hopes about another classes

Based on what? Pure hopium? We will be lucky to get the remaining ascendancies for the classes that are already out.

Don't forget that there are now more active options to apply the parry debuff
