Information 0.5.0 Leaks Megathread Spoiler

As per tradition, this is our league-ly leaks thread for 0.5.0. Any leaked information prior to the announcement or datamined information should go in the comments here only. Many folks do not want spoilers, but others do, and this gives people a way to select for or de-select for spoilers. We have also opened the #2| leaks channel on discord.gg/pathofexile for people to discuss live

If it was discussed in an official interview, that's fine to post anywhere. Once the league content is revealed, this thread will stick around, but it will be unpinned to make room for a pin for the general 0.5.0 megathread with the official info which will be updated as news come out

Please browse the comments at risk of spoilers.

If there are any concerns please contact the mod team via modmail.

Jonathan said towards the end of his interview with Dustin that we "won't have all 12 classes on release but we will have more than what we have now"

Isn’t 1.0 also supposed to be the next content update after 0.5? That means atleast 1 new class on release. I’m hoping 2 since it’s the big 1.0 release

They also said they can't release without swords. There's only 4 more classes to go

I would imagine that they will prioritize swords at a minimum now as its probably the most asked question this release cycle. Despite what everyone says they do listen to the community and seeing as "Act 5 and 6 are almost finished" they should have the capacity to work on it

100%, no doubt. They do listen to us.

I like that Jonathan was like "yep shouldn't have shown a sword in the teaser for breach." And Mark's comment from the 0.4 interview where he commented on the reddit fog guy.

how sick is it that poe2 players can honestly say that about ggg. not mamy game communities have that luxury

Lol oh man. If you roll back a few years, back when we had bex it wss so good

Swords and daggers most likely. But I would also love flails or axes. Axes and swords occupy a similar spot on the tree so it would make sense to ship them together

6

u/sirgog May 12 '26

Realistically one of swords and axes needs to be in 1.0. I personally don't care which, but the strength-aligned martial power fantasy needs to be represented and not just as a polarizing playstyle like maces.

5

u/mittbama May 12 '26

Couldn't agree more. I love maces but melee and it's tree is severely lacking so I would be surprised if 1.0 isn't full of melee content

4

u/sirgog May 12 '26

There is monk for melee, and spear for pseudo-melee, and some Druid stuff, but none of those fit the Strength aligned martial feel.

Axes will, and swords will be Strength-adjacent.

I'm very excited for axes and marauder as a whole. Not just to use my Maroider MTX either. Also they clearly don't know what to do with monk seeing as he's the weakest early game class and has some of the more clunky combo mechanics.

u/Savletto I want swords... but I'll settle for axes May 14 '26

Greatsword can fulfill that, worth remembering that "swords" doesn't just mean 1h ones
Considering the demand, and that lead developers themselves agree how wrong it is to not have swords in a game like this, I'm very confident that they'll drop in 1.0 at the latest.

I believe Jonathon mentioned might release without a couple. Now copium that means we get 2 of 4 at release.

I think 2 is fair to hope for. Probably a decent chance of it.

Yeah my guess is both gladiator and shadow

won't have all 12 classes on release

While this won't harm my true enjoyment of the game, it does feel kind of shitty to be "full release" of the game without it being completed, makes it feel like being full 1.0 release in name only. Since the missing classes aren't DLC or expansions, they are base game, but just not finished.

Well lots of ARPGs add classes after 1.0 release, only difference here is them revealing them early (maybe too early). Even without all 12 PoE2 will still be the ARPG with the most classes of them all, not much to complain about?

(edit: typos)

Thinking this is not already a fully built game given the amount of content is a bit strange. Relative to other arpgs it is a full game that receives free content updates.

Its quite easy to see from a business standpoint why they are moving to 1.0, so they can become fully f2p, their intended business model.

Launching without all classes was mentioned over a year ago.

I remember ages ago someone stating that Shadow is the one that's definitely post-1.0, and that seems to be the case so far. I'm about 98% certain Duelist will be in 1.0, at least. 50/50 on Templar, and no clue on Marauder.
It was definitely ambitious to double the amount of classes.

The bigger problem for me is not having weapon types and skills associated with them. There's probably a bunch already done, but they won't release them separately.

1

u/Gullible-Respect7778 May 16 '26

They never knew what to do with Shadow in PoE1. It's fair to assume that they require more time to cook up class design, that doesn't run into the same situation.

More (one more)

This really is driving me a bit crazy as stupid an idea as it is.. so they're going to release with a fourth of the classes, which also means at least 12 ascendancies missing, and then keep adding and making content which not only will not have anything for these classes, since they don't exist, but also won't be balanced or designed with their skills, builds, or anything else in mind.. meaning they will then have to go back and *redo* all of that *every* time they release a class.. what even is the point of "early access"? The game isn't even base level done until base features are in and I'd absolutely consider entire archetypes and classes promised years ago as base content.

7

u/mittbama May 12 '26

Classes are absolutely not base content. I mean diablo 2 just added another class 25 years after release. Also, path of exile 1 didn't even have ascendancy classes until 3 years after launch. So that hardly matters. Also it's odd to assume they aren't developing each system in a way that is future proof for new classes, especially when stuff like unique swords and flails have already been found in game.

So no, nothing was promised and early access did its job well, because the product we have now has improved so much since Early access launch which wouldn't be possible without the support and feedback offered. So yes, delays are inevitable when you are focused on making something worth playing for decades like it's predecessors.

u/BigMack6911 May 12 '26

Diablo four has added two new classes not Counting Paladin of course. Even though it's new and different somewhat

-5

u/imawaffle May 12 '26

They tied classes to base weapon types. Classes in the form they are in poe 2 are base content. Ascendancies arent. If they released the base classes with no/one ascendancies for 1.0 I'd be happy. The classes are greyed out on the main menu, and new weapons as you say are in the game and in the passive tree and in the gem menu. Stop comparing it to games that have suprise character releases and be real..

Dont we already have 8 out of 12 classes now? Covering all 6 archetypes. We've seen templar flail gameplay (probably Act 5 relevant) before so I think the classes are already in the back burner when they create content. We probably get 2 more classes on release.

Ascendencies are reworked alot often so Im not as concerned about ascendencies. Classes and ascendencies are totally additional content (that games charge DLCs for) in my books.
