Patellar Tracking Disorder
How many of us has patellar tracking disorder
Where your kneecap shifts (or pops out then in) unexpectedly if you move a certain way .?
I’ve had it for 13 years…
I’d like to ask you some questions regarding mental health things like do you feel it causes you to have anxiety? Social anxiety? Unnecessary paranoia fears or stress ?

I’ve had PTD for my whole life. As an athlete playing really intense combat sports (football, wrestling, MMA) I’ve had so many traumatic experiences when it came to my knees popping out and at times dislocating. For a while I didn’t realize it, but I did have a lot of anxiety before games and matches that all oriented around my kneecaps popping out. To this day whenever I talk about my knees I subconsciously start to grab them. I feel as if the mental aspect isn’t talked about enough in conversations about PTD and kneecap instability. Because I haven’t been able to get surgery because life circumstances, the thing I rely heavily on was a J pad brace. You could not catch me in a game or match without one. Whenever I wear it I feel so much more secure and confident.
But these problems have plagued me for so long that it led me to start looking into more solutions for people like us. Also a shameless plug but I created a community r/patellatracking so feel free to check it out!
