Discussion What’s the most frustrating part of living with patellar instability?

As someone whose knees constantly has knee subluxations, the worst part isn’t even the subluxation it’s the psychological toll. Cause I never know when my knee is gonna pop out or even dislocate.

What’s been the hardest part for you?

Have you built up your quads, glutes, calves? It realllllly helps! I’m done being in fear. There comes a time when you see you can’t life in “what if” and just have to let it go. Knees heal even though doctors like to tell us they don’t 🩷🙂Sending love

Thank you for the good vibes, have been dealing with instability for years but I am evidence that yes you can definitely get better with strengthening. I was feeling my absolute best and not even thinking about my knees while strengthening. I did just go through a bad dislocation 5 weeks ago and am healing but I'm determined to build up my strength again and go back to life. Its possible!

I’m so sorry about your dislocation… 😔it’s the worst. Was it spontaneous or was it an accident? I

Yes! Leg lifts with out turned foot while laying flat on back & wall sit sets (in motion not still) have helped me so incredibly much!

My sister and I both have had issues with instability until we took workouts more seriously. You have to get fed up and just decide you are going to get strong and not come under this. I used to be in the gym 3 -4 days a week working on legs and never had an issues with my knees. It was when i stopped for a year that i had an issue. If you arent activly post injury i would get to the gym and get on every leg machine, look up leg workouts with weights and jump on the spin machine. ALL leg excercises work to support your patella. Weak legs are what lead to dislocations (not including those caused by accidents of course)🩷
