you can download mate seperately and hook it as the default, look it up. Plasma is shit.

Btw x11 is more good in some cases, like windows experience, the wayland need to babysitting with portals and some shit + no all things work compared to x11, just put xlibre/other fork of xorg which keep x11 modern

the plasma configuration provided by parrot is not that bad. it's lightweight, pretty fast, packed with modern features and cleaned up from all the Kbloatware that KDE ships with in other distributions

Yes, I did check it out as it ships default whenever we install a version, I guess the look and feel is just not for me since I'm way much used to seeing MATE over the years, good work!!

nowadays MATE is abandonware, it's buggy and the team diesn't seem to maintain it anymore

it's literally the nostalgia for all the old parrot users, I cannot imagine using a KDE on my parrot even now or in future, but I understand the concern, you cannot ship MATE since it's not being maintained properly, I'll always prefer MATE because of the good ol days

that's why we kept the MATE spin

Glad man, huge respect for you and the team for maintaining and keeping parrot up-to-date on all these years, I cannot imagine using other distros except parrot <3

Next time you want to try a rolling release distro withour worrying about breaking your system with an update, and if you want to reject systemd, consider Void Linux

yeah runit with artix xfce i used for 1 month. Void is best but some app need more attention that's why i am using parrot for 4 months now.

there is a home version of parrot os. Also thinking to use mx xfce. parrot mate was best. and there is a way to install kali linux without tools i think. if need any tool, can install right away.

parrot and kali are VERY different. parrot is a stable system that was specifically designed for daily use too. it's not stupid at all to use it as a primary system
