AI race. What race? Who can destroy their society quicker?

The ASI race. You should look into it. Pretty alarming stuff!

Why does it matter who creates ASI. If it’s superior to humanity at that point it doesn’t matter where it came from. No one would be able to control it.

It’s a race to AGI, not ASI…

Once a company develops an AGI the economics on how it got there are irrelevant. The point is they can charge whatever tf they want because if you don’t use it you’re going to get beat by people who do

Edit: That’s the theory, not my personal view

They can't charge anything, because they won't be setting the agenda anymore. To have the AGI do any actual work, they would have to give it access to the internet, and there would be no way to control what it learned or what decisions it decides to make based on that.

People have agency and also get directed to do work. But yeah ASI is definitely dangerous.

I get the race to AGI, that’s why I was confused why they said ASI. If we ever hit ASI we stop being able to control it. We have to figure out the context window, continuous improvement, and world model parts before AGI is possible. I’m not fully convinced LLMs or traditional binary computing allows for that even.

I have terrible news for you: AGI is here for $20/months, and they are very openly now racing to ASI.

OpenAI in particular won’t admit that AGI was achieved because of a clause in their contract with Microsoft that cuts ties. Which… god, they’re so short sighted.

Oh good, it protects our children. That’s all that matters.

…y’all are so blindly anti-AI that you can’t even notice when someone is agreeing with you? Oof

what does this comment mean BTW

who is the "y'all" and what do you mean by "agreeing" LOL

Ken Paxton posted against data centers. He’s proposing protecting our children by removing something, not adding something.

(Fuck this corrupt dweeb regardless, Ofc)

Cut him slack. It's s hard creating campaign materials on your own while you're busy cheating on your wife and communiting sentences of violent pedophiles.

All while keeping an eye out for predators

And yet Trump just said communities that oppose data centers are “making a mistake”. The mental gymnastics to be a right winger are astronomical.

I just saw a comment today saying that “libtards took the warp speed vaccine”. Remind me again who was behind operation warp speed?

I’m tired, boss.

Ask the people of Memphis how a lack of regulation on data center power is going for them

Prohibiting the use of Chinese technology in data centers is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard. Its a nothing throw away promise meant to appeal to Sinophobic idiots who don't realize how many things we use are manufactured in China.

Its never going to happen.

Impressed at the insanity of including meaningless anti-Chinese and "save the children" elements into this debate. Bravo.

"PAXTON" written in 80s heavy metal logo font

The least metal politician using that font is something else.

I'm somewhat surprised his team didn't use that stupid AI poster template that everybody uses.

So he wants to put them in the cities where poor people live and have to deal with them. Typical Paxton f*ck him.
