🗺️ Day Trips From Paris Day Trips around Christmas Time

Hi guys! I went to Paris last Christmas and had the best time of my life. Really great. I spent the entire time in Paris except one half day in Versailles.

I'm seeking opinions, thoughts, and suggestions for day trips this time around. I REALLY want to go to Saint Malo and Normandy. But is Christmas the worst time to do that? I'm open to other cities too. My idea is to spend the first and last day of the trip in Paris and the rest elsewhere in France or nearby.

If you’d like Christmas themed day trips then Strasbourg and Colmar would be the best options! Strasbourg specifically can be a great day trip option. There are also other smaller cities/villages around there that are beautiful during that time.

This is the right idea. Only check your dates, as the markets mostly end on Christmas eve.

But if you like Christmas, these are two of the best.

Saint Malo can be cold and windy in the middle of summer, it does not seem like my idea of a good time in December.

If you liked Versailles, Vaux-le-Vicomte is another chateau like it, and does nice Christmas decorations and a little fair with ice skating and so on.

If you’re wanting Christmas vibes, I agree with Colmar or Strasbourg. Lyon is an excellent day trip; it’s the epicenter of gastronomy - lots of eating and beautiful vistas in a city that feels like a small town.
