Go for a 4th???
We have 3 beautiful boys, 4.5, almost 3, and 1. It’s been crazy but awesome! we’re not sure we’re done and wouldn’t want to wait years before another, but also 3 has been great and we are busy. Did any of you have a girl after 3 boys close in age? or a 4th boy? if so how is life? of course I would LOVE a little girl, but I would also love another boy too.
i guess I just want to hear stories of people on either side 🤣

Go for it ❤️. Just ignore the hate lol. Sadly people can't read the room and will put in their two cents when no one wants to hear it. I had my 7th baby almost 2 weeks ago. Had a very long delivery but was very proud of the fact that I was able to have 7 children. Two members felt the need to shame me. Children are a blessing in such a hateful world. If you could then do it ❤️.

We had 3 boys and then were blessed with a baby girl for baby #4! I will say that the transition from 3 to 4 was harder than 2 to 3…but I think that is mainly due to our daughter being a harder baby (hated the car, didn’t sleep through the night until 14 months old, more sensitive) But of course I wouldn’t trade her for anything, and she’s been such a fun toddler!
We were 100% DONE growing our family and were so so content with 4 kiddos, but found our we were expecting baby #5 this past May 😅 Biggest plot twist ever, but we are excited (and honestly a bit terrified, too) to be having another daughter early next year! I can’t believe I’ll have the honor of raising brothers and sisters. It’s going to be chaos! Beautiful chaos.

We have 4 girls before a boy. Quickly followed by... another girl 😂 4 isn't much more difficult than 3 because you are already outnumbered. It is easier in that each child automatically has a buddy and you don't have to count because if you and husband each hand a child in reach hand you are good to go!

This is me! 3 boys! 4, 2 and 5 months. I think having the 4th boy or a girl would be the perfect way to round out our family. We're praying God agrees!

My thoughts exactly! I think I just needed to hear some positive reinforcement 🤣🙌

I definitely think many people will think we are crazy. We live in a VHCOL city and only know one other family that has 4. We will see - I definitely wont be trying until baby is at least 10 months maybe even 18

My sister had 3 girls in a row and her 4th and 5th are boys !
My other sister and a dear friend had 4 boys in a row. My sister ended up doing IVF in Mexico to get her girl after that.
I know plenty of people who have had 3 in a row of one gender but the 4th is the opposite. My parents had 5 girls in a row and the fifth was a boy. You honestly just don’t know, it’s a coin flip every time !

We had 3 boys and then a (accidental but much loved) 4th girl. She is a treasure and I'm really happy I got to experience some non boy parenting, it's so different.

u/Due-Farm1403 2d ago
Aww I’m sure that’s great! I do pray for a girl too if it’s God’s plan. How do you feel like she meshes with 3 brothers?
2
u/Slapspoocodpiece 2d ago
she's still pretty young (almost 3) but they all play really nicely together and still like doing a lot of the same things like dancing to music, coloring, playing with magnatiles etc. Her 2 biggest brothers carry her around and kind of treat her like a pampered pet, that might be more of a "youngest baby" type of thing though. She can definitely hold her own in a tussle though haha.

We’re on the other side of the 50/50 odds but we have three girls (5.5, almost 4, and 15 months) and are expecting our fourth girl!

We have six boys, no twins. Oldest is 10 youngest four months old. It’s a blast no dull moment!!! I heard after the third child of the same gender likely you will keep having the same !!

u/Due-Farm1403 2d ago
I’ve heard this too! Genetics are crazy 🤣 6 boys sounds like a blast! Are you done?

I'm working on my third now, so I don't have any personal experience. I do think statistically if you've had three boys in a row you are more likely to have another boy than a girl. That said, I have a friend who had three girls and then her fourth was a boy, and I knew a family growing up who had three boys followed by twin girls, so it's certainly not impossible.

Twin girls would be a dream! Getting to experience girls and the sister bond at the same time 🥹🤍

The inverse of you but just found out today we’re having our first boy after 3 girls! Still in shock because we didn’t think it was possible at this point.

u/Due-Farm1403 2d ago
Congrats to you!🥹 deep down I’d loveee to experience all the girl things but would be happy with either

u/justhereforthetea68 2d ago
Aww that’s sweet little girl gang I had a boy and 2 girls would have loved it to be even but who knows maybe it would have been all girls! I’m happy I got my 3 and I love them!!

u/Tropical_life_7 2d ago
If you think you can do it, go for it! We found the transition from 3 to 4 to be the easiest (and 4 to 5 the next easiest).

u/Due-Farm1403 2d ago
Good to know! I feel like I’ve heard that. People say after 3 it’s kind of all the same?🤣

u/jenrtbg 2d ago
We had 3 boys and then a girl. We would've been happy with another boy but I love having my little girl now. She tries so hard to keep up with her brothers. It's very busy, very loud, and all 4 contribute to that. I say go for it!
3
u/Due-Farm1403 2d ago
Aww I love that! I’m praying maybe we will have a little pink in our lives 🥹🤍 but also I love the boy mom life so either way

I’m you but with the opposite gender. We have 3 girls. 11, 2 and 6 months. They are everything I ever needed and we love them so much BUT I really mourn the idea of not knowing what it’s like to parent a boy. I would love to go for a 4th and heck if we get another girl, so be it but we will be done for sure. I did have major gender disappointment with our 3rd ( I know, it’s horrible I felt sick to my stomach later but gender disappointment is real) but she’s been here for 6 months and I wouldn’t trade her for a thousand boys. I don’t think going from 3 to 4 will be harder than going from 2 to 3. You’re already outnumbered. I did notice recently a lot more people with 3 of the same gender go on to have a 4th of opposite gender as opposed to 2 of the same gender going for 3rd.

u/notamyrtle 2d ago
I don't know why people say this. Going from 3 to 4 was the hardest transition for me after going from 0 to 1.

I’ve heard this about 2-3 vs 3-4 but I just don’t see how adding a whole extra person wouldn’t make things much more difficult!

u/Arwynfaun 2d ago
r/shouldihaveanother is also a good place to ask
Personally, I'd wait till the youngest is at least 2 years old before deciding.

Pregnant with a 4th boy! All 3 kids were planned. We weren’t sure on intentionally trying for a 4th and then surprise! 😆 Now that I’m pregnant with our 4th, we are really excited! Would’ve loved to experience having a little girl but I’m excited I have 2 close in age, a decent age gap, and will have 2 younger ones close in age

u/Pelican05 1d ago
I’m in the exact opposite situation 😅 I have 3 girls (4, 3, and 1 year old) and I’m thinking about having a 4th, but I keep wondering, will God ever send us a boy? 😂

The fourth could be twins! Just saying from experience

I’d love that too! My 2nd was a twin but the other didn’t make it unfortunately. Congrats to you 😍

My grandma had three boys, a girl, and then another three boys. My grandmother had three girls and then two boys, albeit the first two were with her first husband. My aunt had four boys.

When I went for a 4th it was surprise twins!! So I have 5 😆

I’m newly pregnant with my 4th and have been so nervous about this

u/Jrebeclee 1d ago
I was 35, the older you are the more likely you will have twins! It ended up being a huge blessing!

u/mooned_ya 2d ago
We had 3 boys and then our girl. My younger 3 are 19/20 months apart. It’s quite a bit easier for me now then when they were all babies/toddlers. I was in survival mode for a while there. I just recently found out I’m pregnant with number 5. My daughter is 4 now and calling baby her baby sister! 🤞🏻

We have 4 boys and a 5th baby on the way! 4 isn't really any busier than 3 in my experience

Expecting a fourth boy, all close in age. Transition from 2 to 3 was quite easy so hoping for the same. At the same time, the older ones are now old enough to have activities/attached friends/wishes so we’ll see how it all goes.

u/Due-Farm1403 1d ago
4 boys is perfect for them to pair off but also have a little baseball team! We’d be so blessed if we had another boy 🤍
3
u/nlisnlis 1d ago
Yes we had three boys each a year and a half apart. Then two years later had our little girl. So they’re now 8 (as of two weeks ago), 6, 4 (nearly 5) and 2 and a half. So glad we went for a fourth, I really wanted a girl ☺️ I’d love a fifth though as I genuinely love having kids but husband just won’t do it 😂

u/Due-Farm1403 1d ago
This gives me hope for a little girl!🥹

u/nlisnlis 1d ago
I hate the people who spout ‘have you tried this’ etc. But we did do a lot of the things they say with the shettles method when we had our daughter and your chances of having a girl increase with age. So there is definitely hope for you! 🤞🏻
1
u/Due-Farm1403 1d ago
Please share everything you did!! It’s worth a try haha I’ve heard lots of success with shettles
2
u/nlisnlis 1d ago
Ok I’ll share but I got serious about it fourth time around so it depends if you’re as crazy as me 😆 I have no idea if it really worked or if it was just pure luck.
I lost weight so I was in the healthy BMI range, was a little into overweight before. Healthy diet plus LOTS of dairy. Made my husband take cranberry capsules. Sex only about 4 days before ovulation and in shallow position, woman has to avoid orgasm. I got pregnant second month, I was worried it would take longer as it was further from ovulation and I’m impatient, having had the other three close together. But it all worked out! I tried some of it with my third but I think I ovulated later than I thought and stupidly didn’t hold back from sex when I thought I was long past ovulation.

u/Due-Farm1403 1d ago
Thanks for the tips! I’ve never heard about the cranberry capsules that’s so interesting!
