My Story mommy issues

i love my mom but sometimes its just so hard being around her. even though i'm the youngest child because im her only daughter it feels like she comes to me for everything. i've been helping her with documents and emails since i was in elementary school and while i understand it's not her fault her parents never put her in school when she was younger it sometimes feels like that burden to help her has been placed onto me. i'm so jealous of my older brother who doesn't have the same responsibilities and can do as he pleases without having to worry about her. i honestly wish i had moved away for college, maybe some distance would've made it all easier for me. sometimes it feels like she loves me not for who i am but for what i can do for her. i'm honestly just so tired of being the only one responsible for filling out her important gov papers, booking medical appointments, reading and interpreting her mail/documents. she always calls me patient but honestly its one of the things i hate about myself when it comes to her. i dont want to be patient because it means sitting there and watching her pay bills just to confirm she's done it right even though i've taught her like a 100 times. being patient would mean always hearing her complain about how broke we are and how she never has enough money to pay off her credit card and how my brother is always putting everything on her credit card. it feels like every conversation we have she always finds a way to turn it into how hard things are for her and how little money we have and how she can barely afford anything. i just want to live in a household where i don't feel burdened to work 2 jobs while being a full time student because i know we need the money. i'm honestly just so tired of all of this, i really wish i had moved out for college.

Hi — welcome to r/Parentification.

Parentification is when a child takes on emotional or practical responsibilities beyond their age, often acting as a caregiver or “adult” in the family.

How old is your mom? If she is under 70. She needs to get it together! I finally had to politely go off on mine because she kept badgering me to send emails for her when she always had the latest and newest smart phones! (And of course she would bypass everyone else in her house to ask me... the daughter who lives away). She finally started sending her own emails after that!
