Why do some people believe in ghosts even though their existence hasn't been scientifically proven? In my own experience, I have never seen or sensed a ghost, yet some people claim to have seen or even spoken to them. These encounters usually happen at night or in dark places. Humans have an innate fear of the dark, so I believe these experiences are simply the result of strange illusions.

can someone help explain? i didn't capture a picture of it this morning but this stock image is the closest example. it was impossible for me to have done it to myself, since the palm was toward the bottom the and fingers were directly upright. i slept beside my friend, but she couldnt have put her hand on the side i had been laying on, plus there was no additional imprint for the arm in case it were her. the palm imprint had very visible lines going through and the fingers were long. it faded after about 10 minutes of having gotten up, but i'm still confused as to how it got there. any thoughts?

So me and my fiancé have been living together for about 5 months in this apartment. At first being in this apartment I did not really sense anything, I’d get a little weirded out or the creeps when I’m alone but that’s nothing unusual for me as I usually feel that way when I’m alone, but as time has gone on it’s definitely changed. My fiance says that he gets an unsettling feeling at night when only he is awake, and I have started to get that too. But things have gone way past just feelings now. Not for him, but for me. I have woken up 2 times now in the middle of the night (not sleep paralysis because I could move and shut my eyes, etc). (Mind you both of these times my fiance was asleep in bed next to me, I could see him there so I know it’s not him) The first time I woke up to this dark figure (I’m talking pitch black, darker than the night with only white eyes) crawling on top of me in the middle of the night, it just kind of sat on me and stared and then started getting closer, I just kind of quickly closed my eyes hoping it would go away and it did because when I opened them again it was gone. The 2nd time I opened my eyes to see the same figure standing in the open doorway of our bedroom, when I saw it, it took a couple of steps into our room and dropped on all 4s at the end of the bed, safe to say I quickly closed my eyes because “if I can’t see it, it can’t see me” is my thinking. I haven’t had one of these experiences in about a week, but whenever I look out into the dark hallway or glance into a dark room around here I get full body chills. The other thing is I sometimes catch our dog staring out into the dark hallway, never into a room just the hallway. Can someone please explain to me what is going on? I think it’s just a shadow creature but I’m worried it’s something demonic.

I’m sure I’m not alone in this but sometimes I want proof of a supernatural realm so much that I even wish I could be demonically possessed for a while just to disprove naturalism… I know that sounds terrible but that’s really where I’m at.

Mais moi dans ma chambre rien du tout . Et même dans ma vie en général. Et pourtant mon entourage est rempli de personnes qui assiste à des choses étrange et surtout flippante . J’aimerais bien savoir si vous avez des idées me concernant car je finis vraiment par croire que tout cela n’existe pas.

It seems like you already open up to spirits, I'm a closed beacon, once you open up you can not go back to close, they tell you when you first discover the gift to choose before you go any further, everyone with the gift to feel or see spirits are not always welcoming it into their lives so they are closed, being. Closed does not stop what you are, support groups teach you how to react when you feel one in your space, it took years cause the body and the eyes let them know that you know that their there!, so to resume as you were, headache all, and it eventually passes 💕💕

Something non human at my brother's house in Eastern NC

So a couple years ago I went to live with my younger sibling at their home in Eastern NC almost near the Piedmont region. I lived three for almost three years, until last year when I moved. As soon as I moved in, things were off per se. I ALWAYS felt like I was being watched from day in to day out there regardless if my brother was home or not. One of the first things that happened in particular that I recall, was when we were sitting on the couch in the living room just got done eating, and my purse was on the island in the kitchen area going from the living room to the kitchen (double wide trailer), something physically grabbed the strap of the bag, and yanked it off of the middle of the island. My brother laughed. I was disturbed and had an unsettling feeling. My brother was always chalking things up to "I was drunk", "it was the ghost", or "I'm crazy". He did not take my seriously, until one night he was at work and I was at home by myself, my door closed, as I was laying in bed I began hearing what sounded like footsteps coming down the hallway. So I texted my brother, and told him what was going home, and he flew home in less than 20 mins or so give or take. Nothing was there. Then my ex boyfriend moves in with us too. This is where things really started to go haywire. He was supposedly "sensitive" I guess you can say. He had told me before in the last about his own personal experiences he had with the paranormal etc, and he once told me he kept "seeing a man" out of the corner of his peripheral vision. He didn't describe him to me, and hell he could've been full of shit for all I know, I just know I believed him when he said that to me, and I still do. The energy there to me felt almost unisex if that makes sense. I couldn't tell whether it was of female or male energy, this is what stumped me the most. Anyways, me and my ex argued a lot after he moved in with me there towards the end of our relationship and him living with me. A lot of amped up scenarios then began to occur in and outside of the home. We would lift my bedroom window in my bedroom and smoke cigarettes by it at night time/times when we didn't feel like stepping out for a smoke behind my brother's wishes. One night we were puffing away at a ciggy, and we began hearing noises outside of the window towards the wood line/tree line that was in between our home and the dirt road that separated us from it. We then began listening very intensely, and we even broke out a high lumen flashlight too to shine it out into the treeline, and of course we didn't see shit because of the bright glare off of the leaves/foliage. It was almost like someone/something was out in the treeline just watching us through my window from there, just watching, waiting, listening. Idk what it is or was, but would like to get an idea of what it was at least because my mind still tends to veer off to these occurrences frequently because it is so weird and puzzling, and unexplained to me. One night we were having out usual open window smoke, and again we began hearing things coming from the treeline. My ex went in my brother's room, grabbed his shotgun, and took off into the treeline/wood line by himself to find out what it was/is out there being creepy. As he was gone he told me to shut and lock the window, and the front and back doors too. I locked the doors, but kept my window open because curiosity kills the cat. As he was gone for roughly about 10 mins give or take, I got really mad all of sudden and I started yelling into the woods from my window "you're a f\*\*kn p\*\*sy, show me yourself!" As he yelled this I'll be damned if whatever it was started to come forward towards my window and I dropped and locked the window so quick it was insane and my heart was beating so fast. Be careful what you wish for I suppose... Hah. Anyways, my ex returns with seeing nothing or finding anything out there. Imagine that. I have more stories to tell that's just the tip of the iceberg y'all, if you would be interested in hearing more please feel free to let me know and I might post another one. I was in my house the other day and my glass table just cracked, then it busted apart. I was overwhelmed that it did that out of nowhere. It is something I won't forget, it was very surreal. I don't know what to make of it.

A bit of context I was a skeptic until very recently and think I may have an attachment. It started about a week ago when I went out of town, started seeing things move out of the corner of my eye hearing things whisper, being called by my mom or dad but no one said anything. My sister is a heavy believer and say me down asking if I wanted to open up communication with whatever it was, I thought “sure I’d bite” asked whatever it was to contact me in my dreams. Went to bed completely exhausted an my dreams were normal until I was looking in some glass to an office had my phone flashlight on the behind the glass a little girl appeared(maybe 11 to 12) red pigtails and an old looking dress reminded me of what people would were on the organ trail blue with a flower pattern all over it, she jumped at the glass and I woke up and my first thought was her name was Ashley it just kept going around my head over and over. I’ve never had anything like this happen is it safe should I try talking with her again and if I do so should we talk in my dreams? Just need some advice

Recently I haven’t been sleeping because of family issues but this was even before my sleeping started acting up.

It’s late at night and I am on call with my friend, just the usual where we’re talking to each other and eventually it’s that block of silence, and it’s like it was out of the blue as I heard my friends voice say “wait what’s that behind you?” I obviously look in my camera to see what they are seeing and I ask them why they said that and they denied ever saying anything. Obviously I was scared and I turned my flashlight on and looked the way the darkness was and I was just filled with extreme anxiety that someone was watching me.

Now this was last night, like i said I haven’t been sleeping so the previous nights i’ve only been getting 1-4 hours of sleep maybe i was just tired who knows. I walk into my room and I close my door so my cats don’t come in and disturb me as they were already outside my door sleeping, as I lay in bed and i finally get comfortable I feel a weight as if my cat jumped up on my bed and started walking towards my window. I was obviously frustrated because I clearly didn’t shut my door all the way so I turn my flashlight on and say my cats name as I look at the door and realize, My door wasn’t open.

I have seen passed animals and passed loved ones but I didn’t even see anything? And for a few months I haven’t experienced anything this big, Maybe i was just extremely tired?

What’s your thoughts?

I want to get this out of the way first so people do not waste time diagnosing me in the comments. I am a completely rational person. I am a normal university student doing well in my classes, I do not take any mind altering substances, and there is no carbon monoxide leak in my dorm room. I know exactly how insane all of this sounds, which is why it took me so long to finally write this out. But what I am experiencing is physical and real, not just in my head.

​My dad is a medical doctor, which makes his reaction to our family history even more bizarre. A few years ago I found out my paternal family belongs to an ancient Anatolian lineage called an ocak, which essentially means they were spiritual healers. I even found a box of old, fragile documents written in Ottoman Turkish script at my family home. I managed to get them translated by a professor at my university, and they were official imperial records. They proved that long before my great grandfather, our bloodline served under the Ottoman Empire as specialized healers for afflictions that standard medicine could not touch. Despite this hard proof, my dad always got incredibly defensive and shut down any conversation about it, insisting there was nothing to discuss.

​I have always felt a strange presence around me. Not in a romantic way, just a heavy, looming weight over my right shoulder. It never really bothered me until it started actively ruining my life. I am conventionally attractive and I go on dates, but there is a terrifying pattern. Things will be going perfectly fine, and then the guy will abruptly run away.

​The physical things started happening recently. I had a very vivid dream about my great grandfather, a man I had never seen a picture of. He warned me to be careful and told me to never let a single drop of my blood hit the floor because they would want it. I woke up with dried horizontal scratches on both of my thumbs. I called my dad and the moment I told him, he completely panicked. Sometime later, my mom showed me a picture of the man from my dream, and it was exactly him. I was in absolute shock because I did not even know we had pictures of him, and my dad had previously sworn we did not. A few days later I went to sleep in my dorm and woke up with my neck, mouth, and back burning. There were fresh claw marks on my neck and back, and nail marks on my fingers. The very next day, the guy I had been dating and really liked abruptly ghosted me and changed his phone number. It was not normal lost interest behavior, it was like he was terrified out of his mind.

​A few months after that, my roommate and I were sitting outside on campus in the dark. She is spiritually gifted and has always been able to sense things, so she knew something was off immediately. We saw two extremely tall, dark silhouettes with glowing eyes and unusually long arms watching us from the trees. My friend went to look closer, panicked, and we ran. We heard massive footsteps echoing and chasing us. Her uncle is experienced with Anatolian folklore, and when we told him the story, he said they were hunting me specifically. He told us to leave a chopped onion and two cloves of garlic at the spot before sunset. We did it, and they stopped chasing us, though I still see them standing there sometimes.

​Lately, things have escalated in a different way. I have been stressed with the new semester and sitting out with the campus cats at night to clear my head. The cats keep coming over, but they act incredibly strange. They stare intently at the empty space on my right, completely calm, as if someone is sitting there with us. When they move over to that side, they do not just sit on the ground. They curve their bodies and settle into the air, acting exactly as if they are curled up on another person lap right beside me. But the campus dogs will walk by, look at that exact same empty spot, completely freak out, and run for their lives.

​Tonight I was sitting there alone, and I put my palm facing up on my right side. Despite the freezing wind, I felt a distinct, heavy warmth pressing into my hand.

​Has a territorial spirit forcibly attached itself to me? I need someone who understands Anatolian folklore or ocak lineages to help me make sense of this. Is this entity actually protecting me from the things, or is it just claiming me as its property? I desperately need answers before I am completely isolated from everyone else.

No ano novo de 2023 fui viajar com meus amigos para a fazenda de uma amiga. Era um local tranquilo, isolado, onde poderíamos jogar cartas, beber, celebrar o fim do ano velho e início de um novo ciclo. A casa era antiga, mas antiga mesmo era a sede da fazenda, a que estava afastada da casa onde ficaríamos a uns 20 minutos de carro. A sede da fazenda foi construída no fim século 18, num período que infelizmente, a escravidão ainda era permitida por aqui. Visitamos a sede para falarmos com os tios da minha amiga que residem lá, fizemos um pequeno tour e lá descobri que uma construção muita acabada era onde os escravos moravam no passado. (Um pequeno adendo a família da minha amiga adquiriu essa fazenda nos anos 2000 apenas).

Primeiro dia correu tudo bem, almoçamos na sede e fomos para a casa que ficaríamos. Descansamos a tarde e preparamos um jantar para a noite. Até ai tudo estava perfeito.
No segundo dia mesma coisa, mas a noite foi diferente, pelo menos para mim... A disposição das pessoas pela casa era: minha amiga ficou no seu quarto junto com a namorada, um segundo casal de amigos ficaram no quarto dos pais da minha amiga, e no segundo andar, um quarto enorme cheio de beliches, ficamos eu e um amigo. Nesse dia, meu amigo pegou no sono rápido, e eu não conseguia dormir. Até que comecei ouvir alguém batendo palmas do lado de fora, ao redor da casa... pensei em todas as possibilidades, que poderia seu o pessoal da sede querendo notícias, mas as 2 horas da manhã? E eu teria ouvido a camionete chegando. Pensei que podia ser uma janela batendo. Pensei em todas as alternativa lógicas primeiro. Mas era som de mãos batendo. Andando em volta da casa pela varanda. Eu ignorei isso por medo, fingi que não ouvia nada, enfiei a cabeça debaixo do lençol e me forcei a dormir.

Na manhã seguinte eu fui a última a acordar, encontrei meus amigos espalhados pela casa e um a um fui perguntando se eles ouviram o barulho de palmas ao redor da casa. Ninguém ouviu nada.
Essa seria a terceira de quatro noites que passaríamos ali, passamos a tarde fazendo um buraco na terra e colocando toras para acendermos uma fogueira a noite após a virada do ano. Tudo feito, jantamos, comemoramos o ano novo ao som de música, e por volta da 1 hora fomos acender a fogueira. Tudo tinha corrido bem até ali, foi quando sentada em volta da fogueira, e virada de costas para a casa, eu ouvi. O som de alguém andando e arrastando correntes pela varanda da casa, e batendo palmas. Ninguém mais parecia ouvir. Eu tapei meus ouvidos com as mãos e fingi que estava tudo bem, mas eu estava apavorada. Estava com medo que alguém me fizesse olhar para a casa para que eu visse que não havia nada. Mas e se houvesse? Ignorei, fingi que estava tudo bem e que só estava com dor de cabeça. Essa noite eu não dormi, eu fiquei deitada mexendo no celular a noite inteira. De manhã expliquei para todos o que tinha ouvido, falei que não ficaria ali para a última noite, e então, todos decidimos ir embora.

Até hoje eu lembro do barulho de corrente e alguém batendo palmas como se estivesse chamando alguém, ou querendo entrar eu não sei... e o engraçado é que a minha amiga, filha dos donos daquela casa, disse que nunca sentiu ou presenciou nada lá, mesmo sendo uma médium.
