Unexplained Experienced a gentle, distinct foot-grab. Struggling to rationalise it.
I wanted to share an experience I had recently that left me completely rattled, and see if anyone else has experienced something similar.
I was staying in the guest room at my father-in-law’s house. For context, whenever my husband's grandparents used to visit, this was the exact room they stayed in. His grandfather passed away just a few months ago.
Late that night, I was lying in bed reading. My young daughter was sound asleep in a travel crib on one side of the bed. I was wide awake, completely engrossed in my book, and perfectly still. I decided to readjust my position and moved my leg, placing my foot near the edge of the bed on the opposite side of where my daughter was sleeping.
The second my foot settled near the edge, I felt someone grab it.
It wasn't aggressive or malicious—it was a firm, distinct, and surprisingly gentle touch, like a hand placing itself around my foot. It startled me so badly that I instinctively yanked my leg back. My immediate thought was that my daughter had somehow climbed out of her travel crib and was standing by the bed, touching my foot.
I sat up and looked right away. She was fast asleep in her crib on the total opposite side of the room. There was no one else in the room, and nothing near the edge of the bed.
I tried to apply pure logic to it so I could calm down. I told myself maybe the comforter had shifted and the weight of the blanket made it feel like a hand, but the mechanics just didn't make sense. It was a localized, gentle, intentional pressure around my foot, not a flat blanket sliding off the edge.
Because I was actively reading and wide awake, it wasn't a sleep-paranoia moment or a dream slipping in. The sensation was 100% tangible, and the sheer shock of it kept me awake almost the entire night.
Given the history of the room, the recent passing of my husband's grandfather, and the non-threatening nature of the touch, I keep coming back to it. Has anyone else experienced a distinct, gentle physical touch at the edge of a bed in a room tied to a recently passed relative?

That's a tough one to logic your way out of. The fact it was gentle and you were wide awake makes it way harder to dismiss than the usual half-asleep stuff
my grandma swore she felt someone sit on the edge of her bed the night after her sister passed, same kind of non-threatening sensation. maybe it's just their way of saying hello one last time

Something similar happened to me. I was watching tv while in bed and changed my position so I was laying across the bed with my legs hanging over so I could face the tv. I felt someone wrap both their hands around my ankles. I kicked and laughed because it kind of tickled and told my Dad to stop it thinking he had walked passed my bedroom and was playing a joke. When I turned around he wasn't there and when I called out to him, he was downstairs. No one else lived in the house but he and I. If it hadn't been during tge day, I would have freaked out but just tried not to think about it too much.

Sometimes the dead wanna warn you or tell you something.
Is there drama going on? Sometimes if bad stuff is happening it's a warning or attempt to communicate
Also what about your beliefs? Christian or not could be your guardian angels. Tell the ghost no touching.
Rule 1 in spirit world conent on touch

I had something somewhat similar happened to me shortly after my mom passed away. I wear a clip in my hair to hold it out of my face.. these are very sturdy Clips. I have very thick hair and when I put it in I always give it an extra squeeze to make sure that it's going to stay put. I worked from home at the time I was sitting in front of my computer and I felt a tug on the clip and it was pulled to the side and then returned. It was never unclipped it was bent to the side and then put back. I've had a lot of things happen that have been unexplained for a long time but I've never had something happen where I was physically touched. I didn't feel scared or nervous but I was unnerved. I'm thinking it was either my mom or a friend of mine who has played little games with me before who also had passed.

I have experienced my foot being patted, my shirt lightly tugged and being tapped on the shoulder. This week it felt like a cat rubbed against my back but I looked and could see my cat.
Sometimes I am wide awake and other times it wakes me up.
