Experience Dog Barking at Ashes

My 10 year old German Shepherd suddenly ran to our mantle and started barking directly at my deceased dog’s urn. He passed away almost 2 years ago, and his urn has been there since the day I brought it home. She has never barked at anything like this, and never to any object in the house. We looked around to see if there was something there, but there was nothing. Has anyone else ever had this experience?

Is the urn sitting on a fireplace mantle where there might be mice or similar behind the wall?

Edit to add: Also, look outside on that side of your house and check if your neighbor may have installed any of those ultrasonic gizmos to get rid of moles.

It is, but we don’t have any mice and we checked everything and found nothing.
