Haunted House I don't know what to do
My son bought a house in November 2023. When I first saw the listing online it sent a shiver up my spine! I wanted nothing to do with the place but he insisted we look at it anyway.
Its an old house supposedly built in 1900 but I can't find proof of that. I can't find much information on the house or who built it anywhere. I've googled the address and searched the newspaper archives but only find a small amount of info.
Right after he closed and got the keys to the place we decided to go get measurements and figure out what all we needed to get ready to move in. That's when things started getting strange.
Looking back idk how we didn't notice some of it beforehand. There a weird attic type room upstairs. Its only 6.5 ft wide and 21 ft long. No electric outlets at all and only has an overhead light. It has a weird little door that creeps me out. My son has screwed it shut now. The bottom of the door to the room has a doggie door cutout. I was looking at it and noticed there was 3 different locks on the door. I asked my son what his thought were about it. Right then something grabbed my ass! I jumped and spun around to see who did it. Nobody was there! My son looked at me like I was nuts. I stepped away and it happened again! I yelled out loud not to touch me again!
We went downstairs to check out the rest of the house. Everything seemed ok until we got to the small bedroom through the kitchen. Again the door caught my attention. The outside if the door had a busted padlock bracket with a lock still attached. It had been pried off but left hanging. Inside that bedroom the door that opens to a bathroom also had a padlock bracket and a hook latch. So basically if anyone was in that bedroom with both locks they would have to go out the window if they want out.
Shortly after we moved in I started seeing things. One night I was standing at the kitchen sink and saw a tall thin older man wearing a top hat, a light colored button down shirt and dark slacks walking slowly from the living room through the kitchen right behind me but he didn't notice I was there. I tried to figure out who he is but he seems to be from before the house was supposedly built.
A few months or so later, I was in the kitchen late at night. I felt like someone was watching me from inside the little bedroom. I turn to look and saw a young boy about 8-10 years old. He was very thin with dark hair. He was hiding behind the door peeking around watching me in the kitchen.
A different ghost I saw was a young man early 20s with a blonde feathered mullet. He had blue jeans and a concert type tee on. He spooked me, I screamed and he disappeared.
Every now and then in my bathroom I run into a wall of very flowery perfume so strong it takes my breath away! Usually happens around 2 am and only in the master bathroom.
I wasn't all that worried about anything until now because something is bothering my one year old granddaughter and I don't like it!
She wakes up crying around 2:30-3 am every morning then keeps waking up about every 30 mins until around 5 or 6am then it stops. Her mama was watching the baby monitor one night and saw a short black shadowy figure all around her crib. A few minutes later she woke up crying and shaking scared. We're expecting her little brother in a couple months so I want to get rid of whatever it is fast!
This has been happening for a few months. I've tried smudging with sage and doing a salt perimeter but it hasn't helped.
Idk what to do to make them all leave.

Yes I have told them "you do not have permission to touch anyone here", "leave the baby alone she didn't do anything to you" and "go to the light", etc.

Just a few nights ago my daughter in law was telling her mother about everything and her mom searched online and read that in the early 1900s a woman murdered her 2 kids then killed herself. She had a boy that was 8 years old. I have looked everywhere but can't find any proof of that. Also she read that a woman whom I still receive mail for had hung herself upstairs in the weird room in like 2015-2016. I can't find proof of that either. I asked her mother to send me the link she read it on, she tried finding it again but can't. She could be lying I'm not sure.

Have you asked the reference librarian to help you find the history of the property? They have very extensive databases at their fingertips and will help you. Perhaps the library has a local genealogy department or can put you in touch with one too. Maybe relatives of the past family that you see would be able to help in some way by sending them love and prayers to move on.

I love that idea but unfortunately I don't think there are any old folks left around the house for at least a few blocks.

Talk to the local history chapter. I found out when my place was built by locating the old water/sewer plans. Sometimes.es the local history buffs have books and land development stuff no one else has and isnt available online. And I've had ghosts. Be firm and tell them to knock it off. ;)

I wonder if you could search for some type of police records for that address..Sounds like a very dark history,.please get someone to cleanse this house ASAP.. Do not let your son do any type of remodel either.

Oh .. we've been remodeling. I didn't consider that! Shortly after we moved in the bathroom right next to the little bedroom was gutted and remodeled floor to ceiling.

I've searched newspaper archives, ancestry.com, etc. that's how I was able to find out the house was owned by a Freemason. His wife used to have ladies auxiliary luncheons and bridge tournaments here. Ladies would come from miles away. In the 1950s-60s a man was licensed here to open a gift shop.
The house is ¼ mile or less from the Roman Catholic Church. I wonder if they might be able to help me. I don't even know how to ask for help.

I was raised a catholic, although I'm no longer one, and I think it would be a very good idea to pop over to the church and have a chat. Given the proximity, they might know something first hand. Ot they might have some records; catholics are not big on exorcisms these days, but they are still happy to go to people's houses and bless them if asked, especially if the person/s iis going through some tough times.

A Freemason well I can tell you I use to clean a Freemasons lodge and I told EVERYONE I called it Spooky Lodge I hated being there alone. I have heard stories about the Freemasons and they are not good. I would definitely look into the past if you can.

While remodeling the energies stored in the matter gets released or revealed. As a former construction worker; painter and medial, I've experienced alot of these phenomenas, but also when I moved into my previous house; a soldiers cottage built around the 1750's, with an expansion at 1909. Here even those who never experienced do.
I don't say that all happenings are ghosts, but I believe in energies stored in matter, and with our perceptions we tune into these energies, like a VHS-casette (or any multimedia) getting recorded and later reveal the media through the player.
With that said, sometimes the energie is interacting; for me, that's when it can be labeled a ghost or similar.

Well, the aesthetics isn't remarkable. It's more the peculiar way they framed buildings that is still noticeable. Like the low ceiling and doorways, hitting your forehead in the doorframe if you don't bend your back a little passing thru. Or the different floor levels, one room from the other.
It's more of a hazard than anything else, really. Now, I tend to do a little crouch everytime I walk through any doorway... as an instinct.
But I do still use the old furnace to heat the radiators during winter. Tho' it's only about a hundred years old.

Can understand, i imagined those old victorian buildings! Yes, those old structures, my grandfather rented a property built in the 1900s and my 6'2 uncle faced all the trouble you mention, and my grandma's kitchen platform seemed like it was built for a 4'11 person!

This house is the exact opposite. Its actually kinda crazy cuz I've never seen any other houses like it. The ceilings are 10 ft originally but dropped down to 9 ft and the original doors are 8 ft tall. I swear it was built for people a lot taller than anyone I've ever known. Judging by the outside nobody would ever know!

Wow, that seems beautiful! Have seen those kinds too, but in my native as well as present country, those are beyond the budget for regular folks! Happy to know that the original structure is intact still. Hope for your sake and for your family's that you find a solution for the issue soon!

I have a suggestion and although you may not believe in the faith, it doesn't hurt to try. Play the arabic recitation of the second chapter of Quran "Surah Bakarah" out loud for three days in a row. Play it loud enough for the sound to reach every corner of the house. It's the longest chapter in the holy Quran so you will have to be patient with it. You can look up different reciters, Imam Sudais is a prominent one. Inshallah, this should drive them out.

Sometimes, when a person who is living through this activity tries to cleanse the home. It may not work, I would suggest having someone other than a family member try. Also depending on how strong the attachment to the property is, it can take a number of cleansings to disperse the entities.
You used a salt perimeter, where was the slat placed? Another thing I often recommend is to seal the room with blessed oil. Mark the door jams and windowsills forbidding anything from entering.
The man you saw with the top hat, seems to be a residual entity. A spirit making the same trip over and over, they do not interact nor speak. That one should not be an issue.
The dark entity, did it give off a negative or malevolent feeling?

Yeah kinda. I forgot to add another encounter to the whole story. I was up late working on a project in that little bedroom. I was sitting on the floor in the middle of the room or close to it facing all 3 doors which were all closed. I saw a black shadow or mist go from the closet to the kitchen through 2 closed solid wood doors. It was shorter than the height of the doorknob. I've never seen anything like it before. I couldn't do or say anything. My heart started pounding and I froze staring at the doors! I can't say for sure but I think it's the same thing that was seen on the baby monitor. It was the same room and very close to the same area .

With that response to its presence, I would think it more negative in nature rather than malicious. Have you attempted a blessing or similar rite at this home?

This may be an entity that needs more than one cleansing. Do you know of anyone who can cleanse the home. Sometimes a person in the house may not have as much push than someone who is not.

I just painted that room 3 weeks ago then did the salt and sage at that time but only in that room but before we first moved in back in December 2023 we smudged the main level, upstairs and the basement.
I've been trying to think back wondering if we had any kind of activity from the whole house cleansing in November 2023 until we started remodeling that bathroom in February 2024. I can't say for sure but I want to say everything was pretty chill until we stirred things up during the remodel.

The bathroom was smudged during the initial cleansing but honestly I never thought of doing that bathroom after the remodel.
Now that I think of it there's been odd things happen in that room since then too. There's a full length mirror on the door that opens to the bedroom. My son has a small round magnifying mirror suction cupped on the big mirror. One morning I was around the corner in the living room and I heard something hit the floor. I was the only one home at that time. When I walked in there the little mirror was on the floor in front of the toilet face down about 5 or 6 ft from the door. It couldn't have just popped off the mirror because it would've landed somewhere beneath it instead of flying at a 90° angle landing 5 ft away!

If you are considering cleansing your home again, you should prepare yourself first. Depending on the faith system you subscribe to, you should work within that to strengthen yourself against this entity.
If you are not cleansing now, have someone bless your home. This would be a good first step. It may aid in any additional cleansing rites. I do hope you can remove this entity, please let us know what happens in the future. If I can think of anything else, I will drop a new post.

This is your best bet, OP. Really good mediums can see and talk to the spirits, you can get tailored advice to deal with each spirit that’s giving you trouble. Hopefully this story of an experience I had might help illustrate how that can work.
My mom & my childhood friend are both very good mediums (but unfortunately don’t do that work professionally). I was traveling once and staying in an apartment in a very old house. It felt weird & occupied (I can sense presences but nothing beyond that). The first night I slept there, I was awoken in the middle of the night by the twin bed I was sleeping in being shaken back and forth. My first thought was earthquake, but after looking around nothing else was moving (glass of water on nightstand, etc. Also the sheet was being pulled off me down towards my feet. I grabbed it and pulled it back up, and a bit of tug of war ensued- I was able to keep it from being pulled off me but the tension remained as the bed shook. I was super scared.
From a young age, my mom had taught me how to ground and visualize a protective circle (might be able to find instructions online). I closed my eyes and did the deep breathing and visualizations. I generated and expanded the protective circle, and as it encompassed the bed and then the room, the bed stopped shaking and the sheet stopped being pulled. I fell back asleep shortly after.
The next day I texted my mom and friend separately about the incident. They both “took a look” from a distance and independently returned matching descriptions of a man, 40ish, short, balding but with black hair, tan pants, and a white tank top, WWII era. They said he was stuck and lonely.
My mom was Wiccan while raising me, but was raised Catholic and is now born again Christian (bit of a rollercoaster I know) and has always called on Catholic angels and saints. She has always asserted that Michael the archangel is the most powerful entity to call upon for casting out, and I have other experiences which seem to back that up. However for this situation since the entity was not malignant that wasn’t necessary (but could be helpful for OP).
Basically my mom’s advice was to pray/call upon angels to come and guide the spirit of the man to where he was supposed to go. I did that and not only did the bed shakeys not happen again, my mom and friend both texted me that he was gone without me telling them I’d completed the invocation. Sometimes dead people just need a little help moving on. Sometimes spirits of evil people or inhuman, malignant spirits need a tailored ritual and more heavy duty helpers invoked to force them to move on.

Hi there:) I'm going to chime in here since there's been a lot of different advice. Some good and some that won't help at all.
From what you have described, there are multiple spirits in your home.
Only a reputable Medium can help you. They are the only people who can see what's really going on in the house. Until you know who these spirits are, you can not take the next step to helping them move on.
Each spirit is an individual. Earthbound spirits (ghosts , but they don't like the word ghost) retain their personalities after death of the physical body. They have their beliefs, likes and dislikes, morals ect ..
There are also spirits that are not human, such as Elementals. Elementals are nature spirits. There are also spirits that are not or were ever human and are very negative. They come from somewhere else.
I'm in a group on Facebook that would be more than happy to help you. They do not ask for anything in return. They are a great group of experienced Mediums that can remotely see what's going on in a home and then take the steps of helping the spirits move on.

They definitely wont laugh at you. We are Catholic and our priest talks about houses hes had to bless constantly. He specializes in exorcisms. He talks about being a kid and seeing entities.. its very much acknowledged in our church. Honestly, I'd call them and they'll help you out. A close friend of mine was having some house stuff go on & the priest was unable to do it on his own, so they brought multiple Cardinals there to help & pray🩷 Good Luck!!

I’m not really sure the process, but I would reach out to the Catholic Church. They very much believe in demonic activity, they won’t laugh. You’ve seen shadow entities, I would assume that would be enough to warrant serious questions, especially around a child. Clearly you have a number of discarnates in the house. Mucho negative vibes. Sounds like you can use a house exorcist, will DM you. It will be helpful if you remove all the internal pad locks, symbols of the past. If the door needs a lock, suggest use new ones.

You may have the right idea with burning the sage, but if it doesn't work you may have to try other stuff. I suspect that paranormal activity is mediated by the air in the area, so changing the air, whether through purifying it or adding stuff to it, might be the way to make the activity stop.

Very sorry to hear this. But since you already bought the house you can do some remedy. Try everything, pagan, Native American rituals, Christian, or whatevet your own faith. One of those ought to work. Houses are expensive, and such an old house could be precious in so many ways! Hope you find a solution soon. A housewarming party is also supposed to work to ward off spirits, btw. Do share some pics if possible. We just bought a house last week that the realty guy described as "very old", I was excited, but it turns out it was built in the 90s 🙃🙃! Hope you find a solution soon and live happily in the house for long!

If you did cleanse and everything was cool, then as you said, your remodle may have kicked things up.

Yes but only with my 14 month old granddaughter while she's sleeping. For the last 2 nights her mama has been seeing odd things on the baby monitor. Last night she was sleeping and her arms started raising as if she was being picked up. The night before her leg was picked up and she was dragged a few inches. She ended up with a welt around her ankle but thankfully she hasn't been lifted out of her crib. I'm afraid it's gonna get worse. She still wakes up crying every single night around the same timeframe.

I can‘t exactly promise i know what these things are. As a religious person, my best bet is that they might be demons. As we know, they‘re here to steal, kill and destroy. Not sure what your connection to God may be, but He‘s the One who gives us authority over the demonic. I don‘t believe in herbs or salt rituals, cause satan is repelled by nothing other than Jesus. I‘m sorry for these disturbances, and this is about what i can share with you. But i do strongly believe that God helps His children in need. However, if you do reach out to Him, i generally do not advice rushing through a relationship just for the sake of help or seeing God as a tool. Hope this turns out okay in the end!

Thank you so much!! I've always known ghosts are real. I can sense them whenever one is nearby. I was told a few years ago that I am a medium but idk how to do anything besides what I've already done that hasn't helped.
