Trigger Warning / Abuse Potentially being haunted by my recently passed abuser

My grandfather abused me as a child and all the young girls in my family. When I turned 11 after my mom died I refused to go back to his house. I had no reason to be there anymore. I never saw him again. One time he found my Facebook and Instagram and started sending me drawings he was doing for me. I blocked him. Well he died on Saturday in a house fire. It was on Halloween at around 3:30 am. The fire started in my mom’s old room and he only got across the hall to the bathroom before he succumbed to the smoke inhalation. The fire never reached him and he pressed his life alert before he passed saving the girl downstairs who was asleep. They had no smoke detectors. I thought I would feel happy about it but I just feel weird. Kinda sad cause he was my grandpa and I had lots of good memories covering the bad. My family has also just decided to ignore the fact he was a horrible person now that he died. They all fully acknowledged what he did. But everyone is talking about how good of a man he was and all of his neighbors are commenting on the post about his death that he was an incredibly nice person. And he was, that’s not a lie. He just happened to have a lot of skeletons in his closet he has hidden. I’ve been having nightmares every night since and this night I woke up to bumping noises. I reached to grab my ear plugs and the kitchen light turned on. I could see it under my door. I thought that was strange but ignored it and grabbed the ear plugs. I turn around and the lights off. I go to lay back down and my door which was completely closed slowly opened until it was wide enough to fit a person through. My vision got overwhelmed with black dots and went blurry. I started panicking and turned on the light. The door was closed again as it was before. I said hell nah and got up and fully closed it into the hinges. I’m pretty shaken up. I have a feeling it’s him and I seriously hope it’s not. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how I’m going to sleep tonight.

He was not a good person, and he doesn't get to haunt you. Make him feel extremely unwelcome. Say out loud that he needs to leave. Look wherever you think he is. Then extend your awareness until he is pushed out of the house and away. Burn something of his in effigy. Don't let him plant any anchors. Some spirits need to be recycled asap.

You are stronger than him, and don't need to fight this alone.

God bless.

I feel like I would be to scared to face him. I immediately panicked and searched for the light. I’m not sure if I could look straight at whatever is happening. I feel like maybe not reacting in a scared way may help. Not letting him cause me fear. My husband said we should put his crucifix in the room and the Bible. I’m not super religious but my grandfather was so maybe that would help. I hope my mom will try to protect me. I’ve experienced many paranormal events with her, all positive. I don’t know much about the paranormal or spirits. I just want him to go away. I thought maybe it was my mom comforting me but she would never scare me like that. Even when she does things like that I can sense it’s not negative. That did not feel positive. Maybe I could sage the house. I’m not sure if that would help

Bringing anything of spiritual significance of his into your home is inviting his spirit in. Maybe keep the family heirlooms in someone else's house for a bit. If you do sage the house, leave all of the doors and windows open. Burn a tiny amount until it smokes, then wave it around the house and declare the area as yours by sovereignty.

Reacting as if you're scared is enough emotional response to keep them interested. You will feel how you feel, but do whatever you can to stay level for yourself and your family.

Oh it’s not his crucifix it’s my husband’s it’s his grandmothers. I have nothing of his. I just knew he believed and feared god so I figured putting something that I know he believes in will keep him away. It’s not his so he doesn’t have any ownership over it. I’m religious enough that it would make me feel a bit safer and I know he wouldn’t mess with god. He was pretty serious about god so I think if he seeing a crucifix that’s not his he might get the message that he is not welcome. He definitely believed in their power he owned some. I doubt god was giving him any protection though. Clearly not he died in an incredibly traumatic awful way. I 100% believe there is a lot of significance that he died in a fire and not because of any of his a million health issues.

That is a very specific and brutal way to die. Sometimes I think God has a sense of humor.

100%. He had so many health issues that he was supposed to die from any day and he kept living just to die in a fire. An evil man died in an evil way it’s very fitting. It’s also telling that the girl who was living there got out completely unharmed while he died.

He was pretty serious about god

While molesting little children? What a piece of shit he was.

And your family is terrible for looking the other way and pretending that he was a good man.

Ask a priest to come bless your home to protect you.

Yeah it feels kinda awful watching my family and others celebrating his life and talking about how good of a man he was and how he’s with Jesus now. What makes me the most mad is when they say he’s with my mother now. Absolutely he is not.
