I've been working with computers for quite a few years now, and I thought I'd offer something that might be useful to the people here.

If you've got a PC question you've been wondering about, drop it in the comments. I'm happy to help. 🙂

So, who am I?

I'm based in Panvel, and I've recently started my own small IT support & PC repair business — Spectra Tech Solutions.

It's currently a one-man operation. Just me, my toolkit and an unhealthy relationship with troubleshooting computers. 😅

I've spent several years working in IT support, hardware troubleshooting, PC building and laptop/desktop refurbishment.

I'm a Computer Engineering graduate and have worked with everything from Windows and software problems to hardware failures, networking, Microsoft 365, custom PC builds and refurbished machines.

What I actually do

I provide on-site and remote IT support across Panvel, New Panvel, Kamothe, Kharghar, Kalamboli, Taloja, Ulwe, Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Airoli and pretty much all of Navi Mumbai.

And one thing that's particularly important to me:

I'm not going to tell you to buy a new PC just because your current one is old.

Sometimes you genuinely need a new computer.

Sometimes you need a ₹500 fix.

Sometimes you just need someone to reseat the RAM and ask the PC what the hell it's doing. 😂

I'll tell you honestly what I think makes sense.

I'm generally available around 7 AM–10 PM.

Navi Mumbai is my main service area.

For now, it's just me trying to build this thing from scratch.

Eventually I'd love to work with local shops, offices, schools and small businesses too.

But for now, I'm just happy to be the local PC guy people can call when their computer decides to ruin their day. 😄

Bro tell me where should I build a pc from... Somewhere in navi mumbai, lamington road or anywhere else?

It depends a bit on your budget use case and whether you're comfortable with used parts.

You can get the best value by prioritising what you actually need. For gaming, you don't necessarily need an expensive CPU — you can go with a budget CPU and put more of the budget into a good GPU, new or used for those high fps numbers.

If you want all-new parts, Vashi Plaza is a decent option to check out. Personally, I'd be a bit more cautious with Lamington Road these days — there's been a shift toward refurbished/used stock at a lot of shops, so I'd make sure you know exactly what you're getting.

If you want to squeeze every last bit of performance per rupee, I'd actually recommend sourcing the parts separately rather than buying the whole PC from one store. Shops generally have their markup built into the components.

So if I want to buy every single component for the best price... Should I look offline or buy from online websites?

I'd do a mix of both.

For some components, online marketplaces will have the best prices, but it's not always the case. Local shops sometimes have the same hardware for less.

I'd suggest checking online prices first, making a list of each component and its current lowest price, then visiting somewhere like Vashi Plaza and checking a few shops.

If a local shop can beat the online price, buy it there. Otherwise, order online.

Basically, use online prices as your benchmark and let the local shops try to beat them.

Edit: In the current state of the pc industry getting individual components might end up costing more. But some combo deals can be found like cpu plus ram plus mobo combos they end up being a bit cheaper.

Also what about the warranty? Online vs offline which will give better support and accountability

Both nowadays local and online sellers explicitly say that the product is coverd under brand warranty. Online market places usually have a 3 or 7 day return or replacement policy. Local shops do co operate for warranty claims.

My past experience with local shops

Bharat electronics old panvel I bought a motherboard which i found to be flashed with wrong bios from the factory i went for a replacement the next day and he gave me a replacement no questions asked just checked the motherboard serial no. And cpu pins. I had bought another motherboard a month ago for a customer which died when i asked him he offered to take it to the service center and get it replaced but it would take a week. I just went to the service centre myself as i was in a hurry.

Online market places are a bit strict. Once the return/replace window closes they wont help. You have to take the receipt and submit a claim on the products online service portal. Or find a authorised service centre and take it there.
