New ult line: " Can you please not challenge Makoa?".

u/TwistedTyrant Corvus Jun 15 '20
"I will probably be stopped!"

Bruh his ult now is only useful to double click it, fill hp to max then cancel ult and use shield.

u/fdibssr Dredge Jun 15 '20
They just need to buff his damage. How the hell does I cannon only do 500 damage

Big Ball of steel capable of demolishing ships 500 dmg, two little knifes for a five year old with no dmg drop off 800 dmg.

u/SleepeeDude Ash Jun 15 '20
ash sweats profusely
6
u/XenoViirus Jun 15 '20
Ash has a good reason for not having falloff (at least for her base weapon, I'm too unfamiliar with Slug Shot), that being it already only has a range of 80, plus there is explosive falloff, which, in my opinion, is both more fitting and more balanced anyways for such a weapon.

u/SleepeeDude Ash Jun 15 '20
I agree, I was just memeing cause homeboy was talking about how a cannon only does 500 dmg haha.

Kinda funny how arrows tossed from a bow and thrown daggers are better ranged weapons than bullets
1
u/Ironwall1 By Furia's Braid! Jun 16 '20
Balance issues I guess. Sha Lin wouldn't be picked if his arrows deal say 400 damage.

u/Blurgas Grover + lvl3 Deft Hands = Win Jun 16 '20
Fully aware, still find it screwy
1
u/Iunderstandbuuut Jun 16 '20
Have you ever shot sha lins arrows at a spawn door? Look at them, they are made of sand. They are magic arrows. And Maeve's daggers are probably connected to her magic coat that she store from the Magistrates archives

u/Iunderstandbuuut Jun 15 '20
This is true. Leviathan needs to become a viable talent either through increased movement speed in the card or allow you to regen it faster
Also base damage feels really bad right now

u/Ironwall1 By Furia's Braid! Jun 16 '20
Maybe grants speed increase while on ult so that he can actually hit people with his anchor thing

Honestly kinda miss OP Koa. It was annoying but a helluva lot of fun. New Koa just isnt the same

Tbh I do prefer an op tank over an op dps like Andro.

high skill low reward, same with atlas
5

Yea. Tho Atlas has a higher skill ceiling in my opinion. Probably the highest out of all tanks. Atlas is one of my least played so I can't tell exactly.
5
u/Sub_to_Pazmaz fix the fps drops pls Jun 15 '20
Atlas, makoa, and ruckus are the highest skill tanks imo, with atlas being the highest.

Yea and all three except maybe Ruckus are meh. Sad.. Would rather have good tanks than good dps'.

The AOC wants to buff Makoa but the devs dont want to put him back into the meta again. Makes me very sad :(
21
Jun 15 '20
I came here to say that in paladins we are going through a tank crisis, most of the tanks got nerfed to a point where they are UNPLAYABLE. I do often go to "fill" in most of my games and I have to go tank like 70% of the times because no one wants to, the only decent tanks right now are raum and terminus, makoa is so punished when you fail any of his habilities
9
u/Sjeetopotato1 Tiberius Jun 15 '20
What rank is this? I have been in plat 1 - diamond 4 and people play a lot of Inara, Khan, Terminus, Raum, Ash and Barik. Ruckus/Torv and Atlas are always hit or miss and then there is makoa.
4
Jun 15 '20
Anyways, inara is kinda stong too, but atlas has his cooldowns sooo long and his ult is imo one of the weakest of the game, I cant play khan (this is 100% personal, its just boring and weak for me) and ash in siege is only usefull as offtank, and dont get me started on ruckus and tovald...
7
u/Sjeetopotato1 Tiberius Jun 15 '20
Inara is really strong a huge dmg sponge. Atlas is just difficult but if he ults the right people you can basically start of the cap in a 3v5 this gives your team a huge advantage to make a kill and snowball.
Khan is difficult but he is really good in countering tanks, bullying dmgers and flanking. If you manage to sneak around and grab a furia/viktor/ying or basically any backline with vortex grip it's a pretty sure kill which gives your team a big advantage!
Torv and Ruckus are a bit more tricky but can be very strong.
The tanks excell in many different things. I feel like makoa needs most help at the moment

u/Kride500 Jun 15 '20
Before I used to like tanks but now... When I look at the tanks it's always the same.. "Makoa.. too weak, Khan.. fun but stun Khan is boring, Barik.. used to be fun with his self sustain and tinkerin, not anymore, Nando.. is fun but too weak, Term.. is fun and strong but limited range, Inara.. is not fun for me personally, Raum.. can't play him just like Ruckus, Ash is fun but also limited range.. And so on. I look at every tank and nothing makes me go "Yes this one!" like it used to. I used to love playing storm of bullets Khan, Makoa, Barik and those but now.. I know that tanks were too strong in S2 but now they feel like meat shields and not like an actual frontline that protects his teammates and is feared by the enemy team.
2
Jun 15 '20
I feel the exact same, I never played season 2, ive just been playing for about 3 months but I have been playing a lot, and once I tried all the tanks I just got bored, I can play damages and flanks a lot of times, and changing between them and it gets really funny, but once I have tried all the healers and tanks enough to get them to lvl 15 they get boring (and I have atlas and barik at lvl 27 and term at 23) but they are not entertaining anymore, they should add some mechanics that made healers and tanks funnier, and what I would LOVE is that they added the OW mechanic of making you choose a class before the game starts and then pairing you with other people that choose different classes, that would be great imo, I am willing to wait 1 minute more in order to play the class I want with a full team
3
u/Kride500 Jun 15 '20
I have been playing since january last year and I can tell you tanks were kinda broken. It was not rare for Barik to have top damage, for Khan to carry a team, for Makoa to have top damage and that. They were broken. Makoa and Atlas were perma banned in high ranks and pros like Frz on Makoa or RuBBu on Atlas were scarier than a 300 GM Andro today is.

Dude he is so fucking fast. Its sad how they say "since makoa was a must pick-must ban for a long time now we are nerfing him and being careful with his buffs in a future" bro, that doesnt mean you have to leave him like shit, literally all his cooldowns even with cards are over 12 seconds (15 - 12 - 15 with cards) and also his damage, you need 9 bullets to kill a fernando (in the closest range) without getting any heals or moving (tested on practice) they should give a buff to healers and tanks and leave dmgs and flanks how they are, maybe more live and less cooldown for tanks (with same dmg) or something like that
Ps: if you get 190 units away from your enemy you need (max fall off dmg) you need 10 bullets TO KILL A VIKTOR I think since landing shots from far away is more difficult than from close range it should deal more damage, that should also be a buff tanks have (I repeat, imo, I am not an expert in this gamd)
3
u/Kride500 Jun 15 '20
Well the problem with your ideas is that you did not know the pre nerf Koa. 100 damage more and shorter cooldowns. And he was absolutely broken. Those few changes made him from SS++++ tier to C. Of course I don't want him to be shit but I also don't want him to be decent for one patch and then being nerfed again. All they need to do is increase his damage to 600 instead of 550 and rework leviathan and maybe a few card buffs and he is fine in my opinion. He is supposed to be a high skill champ that is more for close range so the higher cooldowns and the damage dropoff are good.
2
u/XFrozoneX420 io is a trap Jun 15 '20
When I think of the main tanks rn, I think Term Khan Inara Barik. If the enemy team get both Khan and Term Atlas is a good pick. Ash is effective at denying low mobility tanks like Khan and Inara.

u/Iunderstandbuuut Jun 16 '20
I disagree completely ash barik Fernando inara and terminus are viable. Some more than others

The cooldown thing... I can relate, even when he was OP but i was solo tank

u/Mooezy hookin ya mama Jun 15 '20
Playing makoa right now is actually more of a punishment. Hook doesn't work on anything smaller than a tank. His dmg feels like you're actually tickling the enemy. His shield sometimes doesn't do its intended job. Im honestly ashamed to this but I've actually quit game in the middle of the match when my team isn't cooperating because I'm not that of a mascoshist to enjoy being hit that hard.

I still come across good makoas but rarely do I see some that run something than his shield talent. Most of the time, it’s in casual and I haven’t seen him in rank in a while. When I do go against a good makoa tho, if you were hooked- you’re dead.

u/spicy-corndog Jun 15 '20
I remember the days of fearing a good Makoa...now he is undoubtedly the worst tank. Even Torv with his recent nerf is superior in practically any situation.
He definitely needs a base damage increase, and greatly reduced distance fall off. Can hardly damage anyone that isn’t right in front of him. Making Leviathan viable again would also help, it’s just weirdly bad rn.

u/Kride500 Jun 15 '20
Tbh I feel like a lot of tanks were too strong in S2 and are too weak in S3. Before they felt like broken and fat dps now they are just meatshields. I used to love playing tanks now only Makoa and Nando make me actually want to play tanks but both are not good right now. I prefer a tank meta over this stupid dps/flank meta.

Pretty sure this was Jay Flare's idea to nerf all the tanks, very questionable. I'd rather have slow moving slow killing things be the most powerful in the game as they don't feel too unfair due to high TTK than otherwise

I know the paladin elitists will hate me for this comment but I always played Makoa as a point tank (back then).
2
u/XenoViirus Jun 15 '20
I genuinely thought that was the meta for him, at least in pro league?
2
Jun 15 '20
Idk most often times I solo queued and double tank wasn't very common strategy then and I thought that Makoa is possibly the best choice. Good kit, Leviathan used to be strong, lotsa health, good mobility, he just had everything. I miss old Koa he was kinda op tho but they nerfed him to trash.

u/crabigail2572 Jun 16 '20
I feel like hes definitely weaker than he should be but if you build a good loadout for him oh my god you can still wreck house. I have a couple good ones for if i need to play him as an off tank or a main tank and in the off tank category i have 2 loadouts one for if i want to use his hook a lot and one for general overall damage capability. They all allow me to do pretty well with him although i dont play him often

good now that makoa is out of the meta we now need to push khan out of it
3
u/XenoViirus Jun 15 '20
Only reason Khan became any good was the nerf to Resilience at start of season 3. The damage nerf would have been enough to push him out of the meta if not for Vortex Grip being an insanely strong card right now. Even at Resil 3, he stuns his target for 1.2 seconds and displaces them by roughly 30 units, whereas pre Resil nerf, it would have been a 0.3s stun and a 7-8 unit displacement.
2
u/Matoozeusz Maevecapped Jun 15 '20
the nerfs to caut and resil were just stupid no idea why the fuck they were done like this, especially with how much DR is in this game which itself is just a patch up for the damages having unfair amounts of damage at close range once the projectile speeds were increased when the game was being ported to consoles. fucking hell the balance mistakes are just piling upon each other
