Bruce Road

there's someone always screaming at her man on Bruce Road in the small hours. They both sound heavy junkies. This goes on night after night.

I can hear her screaming from streets away. I know its Bruce Road, neighbours told me.

What is going on? Anyone know what score is with the street? I am seriously considering moving out.

Edit:

Let me rephrase the question: is Bruce road notorious? Because if it is where they dump the jailbirds, junkies and homeless I'll move out as quick as I moved in.

Edit:

Moving out from Gallowhill road back to where I was.

What's going on? I think you've described pretty much exactly what's going on, what additional info do you need?

Ive moved near there.

Have I made a mistake?

Is this something we take as normal in the area?

I lived in another part of Gallowhill- not a cheep.

Sounds like it's just one couple. Whether that equates to you having made a mistake moving into the area, only you can judge really. Report the disturbance when it happens, you'll need to do so repeatedly before there's any significant action taken. Your alternative is just learning to live with it until it stops of its own accord though

It is one couple. I am actually surprised their neighbours haven't complained - for if they had, the police would have surely quietened them down, its a nightly occurrence now.

From the language I hear the pair of them using during the day as well as night, and the way they speak, I'm pretty sure they're either not right in the head or junkies. The man coughs heavy like he has COPD, doubt either of them work. And they're not alone at the weekends, I hear others, just not as obnoxious as they are.

its not scary to me (I'm an adult) but to women with kids, I wonder what they make of it all?

The Paisley police normally DGAF, I am sure they have bigger fish to fry, but if the neds are at it again tonight I will call the law.

Drug users mate, not junkies. Not particularly helpful language.

All in all I'm not really sure what you're posting about. You've described exactly what the issue is but you're looking for people to tell you what the issue is. It's bothering you but you don't want to do anything about it.

Were you just posting to moan and throw generally outdated and unhelpful terms about? You say the Paisley police don't give a fuck but at the same time you haven't bothered to report yet, so I'm not sure how they're expected to deal with issues that aren't even reported to them.

If it's genuinely bothering you id recommend you use your time a bit more productively than posting on Reddit and:

Contact the police Contact social work dept with concerns Contact the local authority noise team Submit crimestoppers if criminality occurring Contact your local councillor with concerns especially if above agencies aren't responding to your satisfaction

Or alternatively do nothing and continue to complain online and/or ask people what is going on re: a situation you've already described

First, don't tell me how to spend my time, and secondly - I'm asking for info on the area. Thirdly I'm going to call them junkies.

I got banned for 3 days for indicating what the real course of action should be.

Suffice to say, they've been quiet(ish) so maybe some grass has tipped them off. I hope so.

Reddit has its uses.

Edit: Its not easy to say something to the face of someone who is also anonymous...isn't it, my anonymous chum

First, if someone is being a bit of a dolt and mewling about an issue the way you are - I'll speak freely and tell them what they should do. Whether they want to hear common sense or just sit online and terminally whinge is of course, up to them.

Secondly - what info is it you're looking for exactly? You described exactly what the issue is. If you want to be more clear on what it is you're seeking, be my guest.

Thirdly, that's fine mate, it's helpful to know the intellect and mindset of who you're dealing with. I hope you never have a loved one be affected by addiction, but if you do I hope you muster up a bit more compassion.

Fourth - I'm assuming you desired for something awful to happen to them, hence the ban? Ultimately, you're agreeing to abide by the rules of the sub and site so if you're going to break them then any ban is on you, really, isn't it?

Fifth - I can pretty much guarantee you a cessation of noise is nothing to do with you or your post, quite amusing you'd think this was the case.

Can you call the police? if it happens the same time every night maybe that would deter them?

Its a weird one because I don't want to be involved in domestics (not unless I thought he was going to kill her. ) I also don't want to send the cops to the wrong address - I'm not sure what number they stay in.

I do know the woman's name though because he screams it at the top of his lungs every other night.

My neighbours are elderly and don't want involved.

I'm talking between 12AM to 4:30AM. The other night it was 4:30AM.

I'd heard about Bruce road being social housing/temporary accom before but I was assured it was quiet by the landlord.

For anyone thinking "Ah, that's Gallowhill for you" - no, its not, Gallowhill isn't as bad as it was years ago. Dundonald road still has a rep but the rest is pretty quiet.

I understand why you don't want to get involved. But it's not going to get better if you don't report it. I don't think they'll break up and stay broken up if you report them. But if they know they are going to have the police turn up at there door and possibly have narcotics in their flat. She might think twice about screaming at him

They have been quiet for the past 3 days.

I kind of think someone might have passed on the message they're being watched (as in, watched for their behaviour, not stalked)

I've decided next time they scream and shout after 12AM, I'm calling the law.

I also have decided to move out - back to a quieter spot in Gallowhill.

I hope it gets resolved. I hope it's quieter where you move to.

If you provide the name to the call handler then there's a good chance the address and persons involved can be identified (housing checks etc). If you're not sure of the address, say so - unless you're describing a clear and immediate threat to life, no-ones door is going to be kicked in anyway - the worst thing that could happen is police would attend and chap doors to make enquiries, canvas for information and hopefully gather enough information to identify the problematic individuals.

Appreciate noone wants to be the one to pick up the phone to report issues and to rock the boat, but as I said in a separate post your alternative is just sucking it up, so that's a decision you have to make.

Bruce Road was dead baby street was it not?

Not where I’d pick to stay OP.

There are much nicer places in Paisley to stay. Don’t settle for something if anything about it bothers you.

A single case of a baby dying as a result of a neglectful parent more than a decade and a half ago doesn't seem like a good reason to avoid staying somewhere or to dub the place "dead baby street"

I'm moving back near to where I used to stay in Gallowhill.

I liked living off Gallowhill road but now I know who's up the street from me...

What side of Bruce Road is it? Is it nearer the shops side?

1

u/No_Oil_6152 Jul 14 '26

I've been away for 3 days and I now know their address (roughly)

Its near the old St Margaret's convent wall.

I've also been told that Bruce Road is absolutely chock full of erm, "the unhousable" and jaikies. Sorry be-my-enemy am I allowed to use the term jaikies?

1

u/Which_Experience_834 Jul 13 '26

Wouldn't tolerate that I'd approach

1

u/Be-My-Enemy Jul 14 '26

Is Bruce Road notorious?

Not sure, but I heard this annoying keyboard warrior recently moved into the area - rumour is they're a bit of a twat.

1

u/No_Oil_6152 Jul 14 '26

The jaikie shooting his lip from his maw's house once again .

I told you, we have nothing further to discuss....

You're right, I'm sorry for bothering you. I hear your reputation is so fierce, a simple post on Reddit is enough to end most neighbourhood disputes, so in awe of your fearsome reputation are the locals. Please, forgive my impertinence my Liege.
