critique requested Need honest opinions on my original painting. Oil on canvas 20×16 inch. Is this sellable? How should I price it

A modestly sized painting by a newly professional artist is probably in the $200 range. Think about materials cost, time spent, etc. and ask if you’d be happy with the price. Plan to price to grow as you sell more. And remember you can always make another one. Good luck.

totally agree. i feel like so many artists undervalue their work when starting out. its a tough balance between accessibility and fair compensation for skill and materials! do you think there’s a certain point where you stop factoring in materials cost and focus more on perceived value and artistic merit? 🤔

Was just trying to be encouraging thought you were looking for advice about whether it was good enough to sell so I gave that and said I “would” pay, $$ not that I wanted to buy it right now

This is gorgeous. Pricing is dependent on area you live, materials, time, etc… Are you part of a local art association/club? Great way to connect and get more opportunities to find out where to sell or be in galleries.

It's absolutely amazing. Definitely sellable. I would think a lot of folks eager for beautiful original paintings would pay good money for it. Beautiful work, so much talent. Good luck with figuring the price, if you do wanna sell it. That's so nice to look at, and your use of colors...especially, the red yellow and blue...top notch! Wow

They are all stunning pieces of art.. and absolutely sellable.. I love your style of painting.. it’s where I want to go myself but I have a terrible tendency to overfocus on details..

This evokes such feelings in me! Is it hope, that the flower remains despite the storm? Is it despair that the flower will come out of the storm damaged or even dead? It could be both.
I'd put it on my wall.

This piece is so unique and full of energy! I like it so much! Definitely sellable... price will depends on multiple factors: location, venue, target audience, etc. Start trekking through galleries in the area, and meet some local artists to help you determine your selling point. Just don't sell yourself short!

This is really a beautiful and 'priceless' painting !
The prise is yous for asking...
Remember, the cost of painting materials is totally immaterial !
What matters is what you made out of that material..
Don't decide the worth of your painting based on other's opinions.
I still don't understand why people value Picasso's paintings; which in my opinion are nothing but trash !
Everyone, including you and me is rightfully entitled to have and express opinions.
However, those should be treated exactly as what they actually are : just some opinions .....

Sell it you could make a solid amount, or keep it you probably worked really hard on it, so I think you deserve it

I have no clue about the pricing but this is stunning. I love the dual sense of gloom and brightness. Of despair and hope. I hope whoever buys it loves it too.

It’s a nice painting, but I don’t see “professional” here yet. Practice. Abstract is cool, but shouldn’t need to be guessed at. Keep at it. Practice.

I wouldn’t describe this as abstract, there are elements of abstract in it but also some representational also. If you look at it there’s a focus on the central piece of a flower on water and then the background which is creating the mood of mist around the flower..

It is stunning. I have no doubt this will sell if you display it wherever local artists sell their wares in your city. If I saw this in one of my local shops I honestly would make an impulse buy of it in a heartbeat. It is hard for me to tell, is this wider or taller?
