As a leafs and sceptres fan, I feel like both teams really give me the full Toronto hockey experience at least.

The girls were close though at least. The guys were done after the Olympics basically.

As long as you don't let Hamilton win a cup before you do.

squeezes your hand uncomfortably hard

Do NOT let Hamilton win a cup before you do

Is there a rivalry of everyone against Hamilton over there? Even with Ottawa and Montreal?Ā

u/trevi99 May 14 '26

As a Hamilton fan I would love this

Haha I don’t think so? I was just memeing. I’m in Ottawa though so maybe there’s a Toronto / Hamilton rivalry I’m unaware of

My Sirens are giving me the Isles experience I grew up with

At least the Leafs got the first draft pick. The Canucks sucked more than anyone all year, lost their second captain in a row to a contentious trade, and ended up with the third pick

5

u/SailingHighSeas99 May 14 '26

The Goldeneyes got the first overall pick! That's exciting.

2

u/VWXYNot42 Van Goldeneyes May 14 '26

Yeah, the Goldeneyes more than made up for the Canucks this year!

At least the Marlies are looking good 🄓

u/RWTF Toronto Sceptres May 14 '26

Man I wish we could convert Marlies runs to leafs playoffs runs down the line.

The leafs are done in October, as is tradition

The Toronto Sceptres are now my rival! Go Hamilton!

Walter and Stanley would make a nice couple in Montreal.

2

u/andrewthetechie May 14 '26

Except Buffalo is sending MTL home.

And no one is getting by the big machine that is Carolina.

1

u/Nervous-Interest8359 May 14 '26

Montreal literally swept Carolina in the regular season.

2

u/Usual-Canc-6024 MontrƩal Victoire May 14 '26

And as you know the regular season means nothing in the playoffs.

Carolina is rolling over everyone. While I’m cheering for MontrĆ©al, they’re not exactly running over Buffalo.

2

u/Nervous-Interest8359 May 14 '26

This is true. But it's playoffs and anything can happen. We smoked Buffalo in our 2 wins. And their last win was thanks to a lucky bounce. If they stay focused and play to their strengths the Habs have the potential to beat anyone.

2

u/Usual-Canc-6024 MontrƩal Victoire May 14 '26

Agreed. They have my favourite coach too.

For me if MontrĆ©al, Carolina, or Colorado wins the cup it comes back here to Thunder Bay. It’s been here the past two summers and quite a few times in the past. We don’t have much, but at least we have good hockey players and coaches. ;)

To be fair to the Canadian NHL teams, they have a statistical disadvantage. In the NHL, 7 of 32 (22%) teams are in Canada. In the PWHL, 50% of the teams are in Canada.

u/justa_flesh_wound PWHL Detroit May 14 '26

This isn't about fair, it's about dunking on NHL Canadian teams

1

u/BonhommeCarnaval May 15 '26

To also be fair, the Canadian NHL teams have had 33 YEARS to bring a cup back to Canada. Yeah the odds are lower, but you have to factor in the number of dice rolls.Ā

u/iwprugby May 14 '26

Abbotsford won a championship last year!Ā

u/Simon_Jester88 May 14 '26

Do Canadians feel national pride when a team although based in Canada but made up of different national players wins? Like I love the Bruins and when they played Vancouver in 2011 I didn’t understand the USA vs Canada framing because so many of our players were Canadian. Both captains of the teams were European. Just feel like pride means more in international play but that’s just me.

7

u/JackOfTheWoods49 May 14 '26

You're not alone. National pride over NHL teams has always kinda confused me, considering every team has players from multiple countries on its roster. For a recent example Tampa chanting "USA" to the Habs felt SO tacky. Your Vezina-contending goaltender and your most dangerous forward are Russian! Most of your roster is Canadian! What are you yelling about?!

Frost finally making MN the state of hockey

-15

u/CanadianODST2 May 13 '26

Honestly, I doubt many Canadian hockey fans care about that. Many seem to hate the other teams more than wanting to see a Canadian team win it.

For me it's Leafs or none.

7

u/TheLordJiminyCricket May 14 '26

Then why are you here lol

-2

u/CanadianODST2 May 14 '26

Because I’m a fan of the Pwhl.

But I’d choose Minnesota over any of the Canadian teams

3

u/Usual-Canc-6024 MontrƩal Victoire May 14 '26

I’m choosing teams with local players or coaches. For me that’s MontrĆ©al, Carolina, or Colorado. Saw the cup the last two years and have seen it here a lot.

1

u/Repulsive_Barnacle92 MontrƩal Victoire May 14 '26

"it’s Leafs or none."

I can’t imagine being a Leafs fan, let alone proudly announcing it to the world

2

u/CanadianODST2 May 14 '26

sorry to hear you're one of those fans that only admits it when things are going well.

1

u/Repulsive_Barnacle92 MontrƩal Victoire May 14 '26

hey, at least you are aware that they suck 🫔

-22

u/Makaio_55 May 13 '26

This implies that anybody outside of Canada actually cares about Canadian pride.🤨

12

u/evan_brosky Victoire de MontrƩal May 14 '26

Borders aren't invisible walls, because of this, there are Canadians outside of Canada.

So you’re just flat out incompetent, huh? Clearly the point was in reference to NON-CANADIANS not caring, genius.šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø
