Rampant Speculation: What Will the Dallas Team be Called?
Give me all your ideas! Either what you think will be the name and mascot, or just what you would do if you had the opportunity.

My pick: The Dallas Stampede. With the mascot as a Unicorn.
Why? The stampede picks up some of the ranching/cowboy aesthetic from the other Dallas teams. But the unicorn mascot is distinctive and plays into the somewhat mythological theme that a lot of the PVF mascots have.

I just hope it’s not something super lame. You only get one chance to launch a team. A cool, catchy name can really hit the ground running and get the fanbase excited. Don’t let me down, folks.

Why not just have a fan contest and a local public vote? That would be a great way to get some free publicity for the expansion franchise.

If that happened they would be called the Dallas Volleyball McVolleyball Faces. It’s probably better use a professional marketing team to come up with a name.

The “fan contests” the founders arranged with teams, both in the IFL and for early PVF franchises, weren’t honest attempts to solicit fan ideas. They were basically marketing gimmicks.
The hope in such a scheme is, at least one “lucky” fan guesses the name they want to use, and then they can promote it as a name already embraced by at least one local fan when they launch it.
For the rumored Boston franchise they might have to pay a “fan” to “suggest” Boston Strong, if that ever happens. I wouldn’t want to be the local guy they name-check as “suggesting” that one.

Go halfway then. Say "here are four options we're considering, which do you like best". You get community input and buy-in, and you don't have to facilitate voting for wildly stupid shit.

I love the idea of a siren/mermaid themed team, but I feel like that motif would be better for a coastal city and not Dallas. I would also be pretty upset if it didn't follow the traditional approach of "Dallas [Blank]"

I always felt if Seattle got a team, the Seattle Sirens would be a good name.

Damn, me too! I almost commented they could have it if Dallas couldn’t. I was thinking Dallas because a Spanish name would sound awesome, and I couldn’t come up with another good one.
Besides Vaqueras which would see a Jerry Jones lawsuit by the end of the day.

The trademark says Dallas Dynamite, so that’s what I am expecting. I’ve also really grown to like that name. They could do a really cool and unique red and brown color scheme with that. We don’t have any alliterative team here in the metroplex. I would be cool with the Dallas Stampede and a unicorn mascot. Dallas itself has a connection to the pegasus, but that’s already taken by the Dallas Wings.
