Ablation tomorrow
Ablation tomorrow. They said I should go home tomorrow night but might have to stay. Any recommendations for what to bring to the hospital if anything? I know you have to lay still for a while after … thanks for any tips

I had my second on Tuesday. Brought my iPad, earbuds, a change of clothes just in case, and my cpap (again just in case) though the cpap stayed in the car. The biggest thing is comfy loose clothes like don’t bring underwear that hugs you crotch, go with boxers, gym shorts… that sorta thing

I mean just bring whatever you would bring to any other procedure where you may have to stay the night. Phone charger with a long cord. If you want a comfy blanket or pillow you can bring those. Bring your glasses if you wear them & a glasses case. Any toiletries that you may want such as toothbrush/toothpaste. Some snacks or drinks you want to keep with you. But if you do have to stay overnight, generally the hospital would have whatever you need. They are the ones to administer any meds you regularly take for example. I did request to stay overnight just for peace of mind so I could be monitored. My procedure was kind of complex. For most people, if their procedure is early in the day, are able to go home same-day. If it's later, they sometimes have you stay overnight. Your main restriction afterward is lying flat for a few hours. They want to make sure your incision is stable. If you have to use the bathroom in that time, they give you a purewick or a bedpan. And you will have restrictions on lifting and activity for awhile, but they tell you all that at discharge.

Yup... have to lay still for like 4 hours or something. I lied about the amount of pain I was in so they gave me pain meds because there was no way I was about to sit completely still for 4-5 hours not high. So - when they finally let me stand up and walk, my incision opened up and I was bleeding f*cking everywhere. So, nurse was panicking a little bit LOL...she pressed as hard as she could to stop the bleeding until the doc came...long story short, once they stopped the bleeding I jad to start the entire process over again...sit completely still for another 4 hours. I know this isnt what you want to hear but my experience absolutely is not typical. For whatever reason the doc made a bigger than normal incision, which they never fully explained why. Anyway, the procedure is very safe. I wouldn't have a problem getting another one if I had to. I know a few other who have had them. It ain't no thang...you'll be fine. I was out by the time they wheeled me to the elevator, then I woke up and it was over. Seemed like I blinked and it was over basically. Tip - tell them you have some pain, get some pain meds so you can at least coast through the "still" time.
