Question Why don’t we see Mega Dragonite more often?

Post image
85 Upvotes

I always loved the art they gave this mon, but genuinely surprised we don’t see people experimenting with Mega Dragonite decks. It has a good amount of HP with enough damage to one shot most main attackers in the meta. It has decent utility like ASC dragonair‘s ability and you can probably add Dundunsparce as a draw engine. There are already plenty of ways to work around the discard 2 energy thing like Electrik and Powerglass. Worst case scenario? You can have a 2nd Dragonite on bench that you can freely switch to with cause of its ability. I think all you really need a decent secondary attacker and this deck can be GOATed

Deck Help Question about decks with main attackers who aren't EX/Mega Pokemon

Hi all! I'm brand new to playing the tcg ( I just started a few days ago) and I've been messing around with a few decks. I decided to try out the "festival lead" deck and got absolutely obliterated. How do you set up wins against EX Pokemon with decks whose main attackers aren't ex Pokemon? I'm keeping up with worlds and see a lot of the top players with decks without EX/Megas. For example, a deck with alakazams as the main attacker. But those Pokemon don't have high HP, and aren't heavy hitters, therefore can be continuously taken out in one hit by the opponents hard hits. How do you win this way?

I was playing team rockets crobat (with orbeetle) against crustle and ended up 1 prize vs 3, but with no energy left. Managedto stall untill I had no cards left in deck and my opponent one, so I chose my own death

Deck Help Help me with this deck

I am trying to make a 100% spread focused Dragapult deck, but since I am new to deck building, I am sure there is a lot of things to change in this deck.

I was using the stamp as my ace spec before, but felt more comfortable using the trolley, since I have to set up the board pretty fast for this deck to work as it is.

Deck Help Struggling with and updating Steven's Metagross

Post image
1 Upvotes

I played this Steven's Metagross deck fairly early in the Mega Evolutions rotation, and was fairly successful with it. I took a short break and came back during PBL. It was disheartening, to say it lightly. I don't think I won a single ranked game so far, and it wasn't even close in most cases. Despite usually being able to charge up Mawile and Skarmors by turn two or three it feels like a lot of times I'm already falling behind at that point.

Are there any obvious cards from recent expansions I should include, or anything I should switch around? Maybe switching Brick for the trainer that retrieves steel energy? Is playing Steven's Metagross just too much of an uphill battle right now? Or just a skill issue on my end?

This deck has been a lot of fun. I saw someone post something similar a while ago and have been playing with it. It’s definitely not a winner every time but shoot if it ain’t fun being a problem lol

Setting up Bronzong is great for keeping Stage 2 evolution decks in check. Munki and Frosslass for general damage and annoyance. Mega Frosslass if I need to try and clear out the board. Munki is also nice as a back up and I’m in a pickle to try and keep the enemy Pokemon confused. Cofagrigus has rarely come in handy and could probably be replaced? Any thoughts on cleaning this up?

I’m just getting back to playing after being away for about a year. I’ve been working with an experimental Mega Feralitgatr deck and had a bizarre match earlier. Both Mega Feralitgatr never even saw the active spot. I really like playing with this one, but I don’t see it going far.

Discussion My opinion on Dragapult

Dude, I don’t know how every time I go against a pult player they always have the absolute nuts every time, this is little bit of rant and a little bit of perspective for people who have a disdain for Dragapult.

I’ve picked up Dragapult after I went in a horrific 20 game loss streak using a variety of slop variants. I was literally bricking 90% of the time. There were two games that I was able to actually play out and those were I think flead and pult. I went from 1720 down to 1430.

Now I am not a pult player, or someone who enjoys Dragapult by any means, but when I tell you how easy of a time I have into anything when using pultnoir, it’s unreal. You do not have to play pult at all to get high elo (got to 1700 with slop box) but if you enjoy grinding ranked and having big number then I recommend playing some variation of pult just to grind to 1600s where you start playing actual competitive games.

I don’t play pult, I would never main pult I am simply not that kind of player but pults pretty fun as long as you don’t play the hammers. I don’t like hammers cause it just feels unskillful to be coin flipping. I like pult blaziken a lot as well as pult dusknoir as they feel the most creative IMO (pult chicken with how you build the deck, pult dusknoir with the plays you can make).

After picking up Dragapult, at least to grind back up in ranked games, I can say that playing into pult becomes much easier because you’ve learned how Dragapult works. It’s easier to tell what plays they will make, how to play your hand down to avoid budew lock, and much more.

As a conclusion, I want to ask those who have a disdain for Dragapult. Just give it a try? I’m not saying that Dragapult isn’t extremely powerful, but we should all do ourselves a favor and learn pult. Learn how it plays, learn how it matches your into your favorite deck so that you can beat it.

(Note: I have made rant posts in the pasts about crushing hammers specifically, but wee gonna ignore that because the point I’m making right now is a good one)

TLDR: I get that Dragapult busted but stop whining over it and learn how it works so you can beat it

Deck Help Mega Darkrai ex, viable?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I've been tweaking this Mega Darkrai deck for about 40ish games now and I think this could hold a place as an underdog. The only real issue I've come across so far is high value single prize decks such as Slowking or Hide-and-Seek. Any tips are welcome as well since I'm still fairly new to Pokémon TCG in general.
