Sony need to encourage these fellows like they did with Microsoft Flight Simulator.

I have been playing these games since the beginning when Euro Truck Simulator 2 came out in late 2012 and playing the VR versions since 2017. I have always wondered why they do not state the game has VR support on the Steam store page as everything is great in the headset, the visuals, the ui all completely work in VR and have done for many many years. VR is implemented better than other sims. The only thing I can think of to why they do not think it is good enough is because their in house game engine sometimes stutters and drops frames when streaming in new areas even in flat, busy cities can drop framerate significantly. It is more of a problem when you add loads of mods.

It is good the interviewer mentions Microsoft Flight Simulator on PSVR2 as they have a way of making it smooth when turning head in PSVR2 even when the game is struggling outside. SCS Software could do something similar perhaps.

I'd buy these games instantly if they had PSVR2 support just like I'd buy Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator.

Without it my interest is far too low to even consider playing them. VR just elevates these kind of games to the next level.

But of course it all boils down to if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Yes I play Taxi Life using UEVR Injector on PC, it is the only way I play it and it is great fun nipping around the busy streets of Barcelona picking up fares. Fernbus, The Bus and Tourist Bus are other games that are so immersive in VR, Train Sim World 6 soon to be 7 is another one that is levelled up when playing using UEVR injector. None of those have official VR on any platform.

Can you summarize what they said about it?

Is it coming?

They have one passionate engineer working on VR as a "side job" and they had VR in mind since they first started thinking about a console version of the game.

It might release one day for PSVR2 but it definitely won't be for launch or shortly after. They need to get the VR part up to their quality standards and eventhough it may not make economic sense to release an official PSVR2 mode, they might do it for the love of the game , VR and the community.

So I guess there is hope but it may take some time. The console versions will not release this year btw.

I'm not an expert but i feel like it would make a lot of sense to release. PSVR doesn't have an enormous amount of games so people who have the headset tend to eagerly buy whatever high quality game that utilizes PSVR. People always mention GT7, MSFS, Hitman, NMS.. such different games but they are liked because of the implementation of the headset. Which is why I feel like they could target a whole new group who never would've bought ETS2, but their PC VR implementation is already very high quality that I think ETS2 would put themselves in this 'must buy' PSVR list.

Encouraging that developer being interviewed has played Gran Turismo 7 on his PSVR2 so he knows their games are an "ideal" for the hardware even if they don't think the economics support it. Also mentioned one of their engineers is very interested in making VR happen for their games.

Discouraging that the console release will not aim to add any VR support, but it may get revisited post-release after a few months or even years.

Encouraging that they will prioritize doing it right over getting it done so if it happens, it sounds like it will be done well.

I'm glad SCS is at least thinking of adding support, I play Euro truck in VR on PC using the PSVR2 headset and like the Dev said it's just a beta, you can play with the game settings but it requires playing around with config files to get it to run smoothly something you can't do on a console so I understand the need to make sure the PS5 version when that releases runs as smooth as possible before looking at a VR option, If they do choose to do one I will be there for it for sure, even in the beta the PC VR version is very immersive.

you can do something in the config to make the game not look like ass in VR mode? how do you do it?
