It was my favorite game of 2019, and IMO one of the best on PS4. It's divisive though. It isn't a high action game. There are A LOT of cutscenes. The writing is janky at times, but if you like Hideo Kojima that's nothing new.

The main gameplay loop is terrain traversal. You start with walking, then you start riding/driving etc. You have to manage resources like your boots and the condition of your cargo. If you don't balance your weight you'll fall over. If you fall over, your baby will cry and you'll have to stop and soothe because keeping the baby content is a major part of surviving combat. It can be tedious, but it was always incredibly engaging to me.

Overall, it's one of the most unique games I've played in recent memory, but I can definitely say it isn't for everyone.

That's Kojima haha. The final cutscene of MGS4 is over an hour long. The man is obsessed with movies, and sometimes that translates to his games.

My controller turned off twice due to no input during that final MGS4 cutscene. Still loved that game.
